Foot soak plus reflexology for the win! It was a friend’s birthday and I wanted to treat us to afternoon tea. The trouble is that I don’t eat dairy wheat or sugar so traditional tea service is out of the question. So why not get our feet treated instead? This place is adorable — easy to find near Glebe and Lee Hwy. we tried two different herbal teas and then headed to the«sanctuary area» for amazing treatments by the very talented Vital. Wow. He knows his pressure points. I’m still zen’d out and looking forward to my next visit.

Ahhhhhmazing! Jonathan and Anna were very helpful as it was my first visit. I sipped on an aromatic, delicious tea while my feet soaked in a warm, herb filled basin. It was very soothing and rejuvenating. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I will be back for sure!

I have been going to the House of Steep for a couple of years and I still love going there. I love tea and the shop smells so good. It is a place I like to go to when I need to get centered and have a little me time. Everyone is super kind and works hard to make it a great experience. Nancy is one of the message therapists. She is really talented and she helps me feel relaxed and at peace. The other day I dropped in on a Tuesday and Ali Sherbiny was there to offer Tui Na message. I had never heard of it before, but ready to try something new. It was great and I was amazed how relaxed and also strangely energized I felt. It seems like a good addition to the offerings.

My brother and I came here for his birthday to relax and get some tea and foot soaks! We both loved our teas(I got the vanilla chai, he got the digest blend) and then we took turns getting reflexology and massages and foot soaks. The foot soak was very relaxing and nice on a cold day, and the massage was wonderful. The massage/reflexology therapist, Nancy, was amazing. It was the best massage I’ve had! It is pretty pricey, but it was nice for a treat.

A neighborhood gem. Still can’t believe I didn’t didn’t go in before last week. The muscle soak relieved my big toe problem. Nancy really heard what I wanted and delivered Reflexology. So I had to book my next appointment. They are really out to provide excellent service and do!

I absolutely love House of Steep. It is a relaxing environment where you can go, sit, have a cup of tea, and have a natural foot soak. You can pick from a variety of soaks and teas. I like to come here to relax at the end of a stressful work day. I have also been here for a party-which was nice and a relaxing way to get everyone together. They also sell natural foot balms that they make in house and tea soaks along with their loose tea. There aren’t many natural spa-like venues in the DC area so this place is unique and worth it! And it’s cheaper than a pedicure and much better for your feet-no damaging chemicals here! A+ because your feet deserve it!

I had come to this place because it was early in the morning and I wasn’t feeling really great(art classes ya know!). Walking into this place, it was like a zen garden of happiness! The smell of cookies about to be cooked, tea leaves, the sound of water falling, and the calming music made it really awesome! Not to mention the people who greeted me and served me some yummy hot coco and a whole wheat bagel! They also gave me two cute samples of cookies(it had lavender in it so it was yummy from the start) and they tasted amazing! I will definitely be buying their cookies one day! I also noticed certain art pieces that have been hung up and one was sold! One of my friends told me that they support local artists, so I may have to ask if I may hang one, one day! I will be coming back here very soon!

Love this place! Very relaxing, hipster feel. They offer lots of tea options, simple yet good food, and the staff is knowledgeable, warm, and friendly. I’ve always been served my drink with a small lavender cookie which is a nice touch. Having been here several times, it has been consistantly an enjoyable experience. The massage sanctuary is a great feature — I had a wonderful interaction with Nancy(a massage therapist there) while sipping on hot tea and getting my feet soaked and massaged. During the winter this is heavenly. It’s private, comfortable, and very relaxing. I found out you can even book the store and santuary for private functions like birthday parties, girls nights, etc. Whenever I’m in town I try to make it here. Pro tip — you can park behind the building if you turn off Lee Hwy, and down the alleyway between the townhomes and the business building. You’ll still need to walk around to the front of the building, but it’s better than finding street parking in my opinion.

Very cool, very interesting. This little tea house offers excellent selections of tea and food accompaniments. All teas come together with a little egg timer that has suggested brewing times, so you can maximize the flavor. I highly recommend any of the oolongs(I really liked the one with lychee), and the chamomile pound cake. The soothing ambience is complemented with foot soaks, which are performed behind a small screen — fun for a girls’ outing:) they also do English tea time Monday-Thursdays by appt.

What a cute place! It was awesome that it wasn’t crowded on a Sunday afternoon; it really allowed my friend and I to relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere. We ordered some tea and had foot soaks. While I was expecting some super amazing foot soak, I’m now realizing that I have no idea what I was expecting. The soak was nice, but it was simply a tub filled with hot water, rocks, and herbs(based on the type of soak you chose). I could make the same thing at home and save $ 25. We did enjoy the soft slippers we got to wear after the soak, and the chairs were quite comfortable. I was also glad to see that some reading materials were provided! There are many options for tea, and you get several small cups out of one teapot. The biscuit you get is a nice touch as well. We had the wasabi dumplings, and they were decent. Pricing is just right for the area, and the parking is great(free parking in the back, paid 2-hour parking on the street nearby). Bottom line: if you’re looking for a quiet tea shop, stop by. As for foot soaks, just make them yourself!

If you need some relaxation in your life, House of Steep is perfect for you. Whether it’s just a few minutes of quiet or a long foot soak, this mini-oasis will have you feeling refreshed in no time. I’ve enjoyed my foot soaks and my teas(I usually order from the house blends). While I’ve not tried any food yet, I hope to soon. Reasonable prices and friendly staff complete the great experience.

House of Steep is a small tea shop located on lee highway. Its so small, that it would be easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. When you walk in, there are comfy chairs and tables which makes this a cool study spot. The tea menu is great as well. Everything from green tea, black tea, oolong and rooibos. There is usually a special available for samples as well. Besides tea, there are also awesome brewing gadgets, and art all along the wall available for purchase! Basically, House of Steep is a great spot for tea lovers. Its quiet, calm, and a great place to do some work while sipping a hot cup of chai.

This place is great: zipping tea while relaxing your feet in a warm fragrant soak is amazing! We tried all the cookies: chocolate chip cookie from an outside bakery were average; in-house nutella cookies were ok, roibos cookies were the best! Please note that the tea comes with a small shortbread cookie which is very tasty. They have a nice assortment of teas. It was noon on Sunday, we had to wait for the soaks so had lunch first. The lunch food has really small portions, we tried the shrimp rice bowls which was tasteless but healthy. We ordered tea that never came. The soak is nice, smells great and the oils leave the feet very smooth. However, they keep tabs on the time even though there was nobody waiting for a seat. They were pretty quick at removing the soaks right at the 20min mark, it felt rushed. Staff is quite friendly and the place is very clean.

What a cool place! I found it on Unilocal while in town. The husband and I stopped in for some tea and ended up getting foot soaks as well. I had the detox along with a detox tea. Husband had the vitality tea and sore muscle soak. We both loved it and wish we had something at home like this! The service was perfect. The young man working there had TONS of knowledge about tea. He is super passionate and it shows! He was very pleasant and refilled our baths 3 times. If you haven’t been you must!

I’ve been looking at new tea and coffee places to sit down and study at, and when I came across this place, I was confused. Is this a sit down and chill place, or a come with girlfriends and socialize while pampering place? The answer: either, or both! It’s on Lee Hwy and in a row of shops that are actually easy to accidentally drive by(I almost did). There are a couple parking spots in front, but I’m sure you can find more if you park in one of the nearby residential streets. We made reservations to do foot soaks. We all picked different soaks, mine being the Insomnia soak. They partition the room so that you can have some privacy. Whatever teas you order, they’ll bring those to you while you soak. Someone will usually come by to see if you want hot water added to the soak. The soaking tub has stones that you can use as massage, or just to play with. Once you’re done, you can move over to the other tables and continue to enjoy your tea or even have some snacks. They dry your feet and give you slippers that you can walk around in until you’re ready to change back into your shoes. They’ll keep refilling your mugs with hot water as long as you keep wanting to resteep your tea. I loved the veggie wasabi dumplings, and also my cream cheese salmon sandwich, but the sandwich was cut into four little squares that didn’t seem worth the price. My friend is very sensitive to processed foods, so she ordered the housemade hummus and was incredibly pleased at being able to eat it with fresh vegetables. The staff was out of this world amazing. They were incredibly accommodating and just overall likeable people. I can picture myself coming here for a pot of tea to study, as well as to bring some friends again and enjoy the foot sanctuary.

The perfect day arrived for a trip to House of Steep. This place has been on my radar for a while, and having missed the popular Unilocalie event, I was excited to visit them yesterday. The rain was pouring and it was quite cold, so tea was in our future. We struck gold when we found a parking spot right next to the building. I’m not sure where parking is for this building but it would seem a tad challenging, especially in pouring rain. We had a chance to try out a couple of different blends. The hubby tried the Blend Sampler and I opted for ‘It’s a Great Day’ since it was my birthday! HA! I love the little brew timers, soooo cute and it helps to know when we’re ready to sip! They provide 2 cute lavender leaf short bread cookies, and they were very powerful… so full of lavender, such a nice touch. The staff was SO helpful, they came over to see if we needed anything and fully explained the blends to us. The chairs are very comfy and there is even a sofa in the main tea room. I took a walk around the shop and noticed the very serene looking ‘Foot Soak” room. I wish we had the time for a soak but our intent was the tea sampling. The shop sells a bunch of tea and accessories. Again, if I had the time to shop, I’d definitely pick up a few of their goods. We enjoyed our short time there, the tea was amazing, and the staff accommodating. It’s definitely a place to relax and chill before facing that crazy world!

3.5 stars First thing I noticed when I first walked in was how good the place smelled. It felt like I walked into a spa especially with the sound of the water flowing filling the small space. I ordered a pot of Clarity tea($ 6) and quiche that came with a really really small side salad($ 7.99). Prices for their light snacks and bites are steep(!). The best part was definitely the lavender tea cookie that came with my tea. I would happily buy a box of those delightful little cookies! Service was very friendly and welcoming. I was studying here for maybe 4 – 5 hrs and they happily offered to refill my pot with more hot water. Not once did I feel like they wanted to throw me out there. Definitely a good and cute spot to catch up with a friend or get some work done or just chill with a good book(even better if you do these things while getting your relaxing foot soak on!). If you’ve got tea lover friends and family this is also a great place to grab them gifts. I’m not quite a fan yet. mostly due to the underwhelming and expensive food but I’m definitely coming back to try their private foot soak!

This spot has something for everyone. It is not too intimidating for those new to teas, but it also offers interest for tea aficionados. The staff is very nice and all of the teas smell and taste great. The menu has tea on the front and«everything else» on the back. There are house blends, which I highly recommend. I almost always opt for the blend of the month since it’s always changing. They offer tea by the cup, pot, or tasting flight. You get unlimited hot water refills on your tea and it comes with a hourglass and savory lavender tea cookie. The edible part of the menu has room for improvement, but they are keeping with the«tea time» feel. Think — fruit & nutella sammies, rice bowls, and creamy quiche from local LeoNora bakery. There is a separate menu for foot soaks, which take place in the sanctuary towards the back of the space. The chairs are comfy and the copper basin filled with warm water, rocks, and your«steep» of choice hits the spot. Refills on water during the 20 minutes keep your feet from getting too chilly. The staff is very friendly and the chief steeper knows all the properties and uses for the ingredients used in their teas and soaks. I stopped in for some anti-inflammatory remedy and she was full of recommendations.

I figured I should update my review since I’ve pretty much made this place my home the past month while they are doing construction at my apartment building. First off, the staff here is one of the most happiest, passionate, and knowledgeable group of workers I have ever encountered. They are CONSTANTLY refilling my tea pot(to the point that I feel bad about it), offering free samples of their fresh baked biscotti, giving advice on how to detox when you are sick, and asking you to taste their new tea blends for the month. House of Steep gets five stars just for their employees alone. And trust me, I’ve been there for the morning, afternoon, evening and night shifts and they are ALL amazing. Besides the amazing employees, this place has a wonderful calming ambiance that is perfect for catching up with an old friend, holding a book club meeting, or if you’re like me… escaping from the construction guys who are leering through your window while they scale up and down your apartment walls. I love their selection of teas and their light and healthy lunch offerings. Prices are a little bit more expensive than I would have thought, but as I mentioned I take advantage of my multiple steeps of tea so I don’t mind paying for a little bit of zen in my life. Please support this unique, local business!
