The food was pretty average and overpriced. But I eat overpriced average food all the time. Their service is what really bothered me. I ran into a major language barrier here.

I just worked a long day and was REALLY looking forward to my carryout meal. I ordered the ginger stir fry w/shrimp thinking i could have some for dinner and lunch tomorrow… HA! Theres barely enough for dinner! The online menu price was 13.95, but in store it was actually 15.95(she explained it was more expensive bc of the shrimp which the online menu stated 14.95 for shrimp– thank you im not an idiot). I figured it would be worth it. Too bad when I got home the container was barely half full. I actually called to complain(something I never do) and the woman said she would issue me a credit except she couldn’t find my ticket. She told me it was very busy and would do it tonight. Not sure how she’s going to give me a credit since I paid in cash. Guess I should go make a pbj for the other half of my dinner.

Really liked the kyushu ramen. The broth was soothing and had a good texture and taste. We also ordered the kampyo pickled radish roll(really good), Redskins roll, and spicy scallop roll(both of which I would have liked to be spicier). The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Even though this is a new place I felt right at home. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing find! Great sushi for a very affordable price. Had the rainbow, spicy scallop, and California rolls and would recommend them all. Also loved the miso and gyoza. Very welcoming atmosphere as well.

It’s definitely a different restaurant than the one that was in the same spot for a few years until recently. I ordered pad thai for takeout and it was ready in qp minutes and still hot when I picked it up. 3 starts because it seemed overpriced for the portion size. I plan on coming back for sushi and if the sushi is good that would bump it up to 4 stars.

I’ve eaten here a few times. It’s wonderful. Tonight I had the miso ramen, because I have a bad cold, and thought the hot noodles in broth would soothe my symptoms. The pork was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The fresh bean sprouts in it were so fresh. Very flavorful. I’ve never been disappointed by anything I’ve ordered here. It makes me want to be brave and maybe order things I wouldn’t normally try. It’s a small location, but the chefs do some innovative things, like sushi specials with pumpkin for Halloween! This place is a sweet little neighborhood gem.

Nestled in a non-descript plaza lies one of Arlington’s best kept new secrets: Maneki Neko Express. Don’t let the extremely-simple décor throw you off. The restaurant only has a table or two that can fit 4. Otherwise, there is a lengthy bar top with a view of the street. The jewel of the restaurant is the sushi. The nigiri is outstanding! I was taken aback at how delicious my meals have been. The fish is plentiful and the rice appropriate I have had simple rolls including salmon and avocado that were lovely. The happy hour nigiri prices of $ 1.25(until 7pm) is a great bargain. The wifey loves their ramen. The stock, as we were told by our waitress(more on her in a moment) is made in house with love and care. Our favorite ramen shop is in DC, however, she has proclaimed this to be a wonderful alternative. A very picky eater, this declaration was a testament to her bowl. The staff at Maneki is lovely. They remind me of my own aunts and uncles. Always warm and welcoming, they dote on their customers. A local small business, we look forward to have Maneki in the neighborhood.

I got take-out here recently. The 18-piece nigiri dinner only had 15 pieces, three of which were sea urchin(1) and roe(2) – which are kind of an acquired taste. The fish tasted fresh, although the rice was bland. The staff are very nice, but they really shouldn’t short-change the take-out orders!

Tried it for the first time tonight and was very pleased with the quality of the sushi. Perhaps a little overpriced for nigiri. The ambiance is nothing special but it seemed clean(I ordered take out). The staff was very friendly. Very pleasant first experience and will go back.

Having enjoyed dining at the original Falls Church restaurant, we were looking forward to trying out the new location for carry out. We ordered 2 pieces of salmon Nigiri, an avocado roll and a shrimp tempura roll, for $ 25. The sushi was prepared fresh and packed in styrofoam with foil trays, soy sauce, ginger, wasabi, chopsticks and napkins. The salmon tasted fresh, and the shrimp tempura was crispy and tasted like it was fried in sesame oil. Next time we look forward to trying the Ramen/Udon soups. This location is smaller than the Falls Church location, there are a few tables, bench seating facing the windows, and three seats in front of where the sushi is prepared.
