A agree with all the other Unilocalers about the groupon. They don’t know how to handle the groupons even though the groupon clearly says you can get a rice burger they limited me to only the regular burgers and not even the 101 burger. They will be out of business and won’t need to wonder why

RIP Bun Bun. Sincere apologies for not reviewing your rice bun burgers before your untimely demise. Food: Came here with my boo to check out the infamous rice bun burger. The first time I came here, I chickened out and ordered a fried chicken burger with a normal bun( ). I found the fried chicken pretty underwhelming in terms of breading and meat quality. The meat was not only overly fatty, but seemed undercooked to the point of concern. I did appreciate that they serve it with fries and a fried potato ball(good idea, poor execution). My boo did get a rice bun burger of the chicken variety( ). After sneaking a taste, I concluded that whole rice bun burger idea might not be such a terrible idea after all. In any case, I preferred it to my chicken burger. During our second visit, I got the spicy chicken rice bun burger( ) and my boo tried the Taiwanese beef burger( ). Whatever warm feelings I had for the rice bun burger dissolved during this second visit. The quality of the meat put a huge damper on the experience. Each bite was so full of cartilage and tendons that it was a chore to consume. The sauce also tasted slightly different than what you’d expect from the look and not in a positive way. Finally, the rice bun proved technically difficult to eat. I guess to keep it together, they needed to make the rice sort of hard. In certain areas, the rice was hard to chew. In others, the bun fell apart. Despite my complaints, the rice bun burger is a novel idea. I’m a bit sad that Bun Bun closed because I don’t know where to get this now. Atmosphere: I liked the way they dressed this place up. It looked like a sushi restaurant what with all the wood and red accents. I much appreciated the cleanliness, but is also had this weird plastic smell that suppressed my appetite. Service: It was a bit slow at times, but not to the point of frustration. Synopsis: Novel idea, poor execution. Hopefully I’ll find another place to munch on a rice bun burger.

The lady who seems to be the owner is super nice and I think that Bun Bun has a unique menu. When I first visited, I got one of the pocket bun burgers which was really fun to eat, and there was so much meat! More bang for your buck! I vow to try one of the rice bun burgers and the other burgers as well. Their house special sauce is wonderful and they have sriracha too!(plus points ;)) Students get a student deal with their ID too! Yayy! I like coming here very much. The only downside is that it’s closed on Wednsedays, and I always seem to want to come on Wednesdays. Haha.

I think this place was better suited for me when I was back in high school or my early days of college. I came here because I wanted to try something filling, but not spend so much. Food: *Two tower burger: Two patties with a special sauce topped with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes. Comes with order of fries and a cheese potato ball. *Chicken Wrapped: chicken with cucumbers and fries/potato ball as well. *Mango slush milk tea boba. This gave a STAR on its own. If you like mango pudding at dim sum restaurants, THIS taste EXACTLY like it, but in a DRINK. The boba is good too. Service: It was great! Definitely family owned and they are nice. Wait: It was a Saturday night and it wasn’t crowded at all. I was a bit skeptical why it wasn’t, but then I realize all the younger people were probably going to Hardwell ha! Overall: This place is good if I want to grab a Taiwanese burger and stuff my face in it. I will come back definitely to GRABTHATMANGOSLUSH again.

This place can get more customers if it opens at somewhere else — you just simply can’t compete against SimBala(located right next door) and Din Tai Fung(located next to the plaza). If you can ignore somewhat slow service, then this will be a fairly so-so to decent dining experience. Spicy Chicken Pocket Buns(w/French Fries and Potato Ball, $ 6.5) — It’s like eating Kung Pao chicken in a pocked-shaped wrap. Spicy chicken and the sauce for french fries were pretty decent. Once I took a bite of the potato ball, I can see cheese oozing out. Overall, nothing to go crazy about.(3.5÷5) If I feel like to try something different, I might come back here for their unique rice bun burger. If I have a choice between SimBala and Bun Bun, I probably choose SimBala 9 out of 10 times.

This place is a great place Taiwanese Burger joint! They have delicious burgers and good drinks. They have a new special menu that includes: fried cheese sticks, Chinese chicken salad, curry burger, Taiwanese veggie pancakes, etc. Their burgers comes with a fried egg, some mysterious sauce, fries, and this carby but delicious potato ball filled with cheese. Bun bun is also a good place for vegetarians/vegans. Their veggie burger is phenomenal! My absolute favorite thing here is their veggie peanut butter burger(not on the menu, but they can replace anything with with a veggie patty). Their plant based meat tastes so real and it doesn’t taste like those generic Morning Stars stuff. They also have veggie egg rolls that are okay. They also serve cold noodles and udon. My friend wasn’t a fan of their curry burger and she likes the 101 tower burger… Which is basically a double cheese burger(you can get a beef or a pork patty) There is limited and awkward seating arrangements since there’s a big fixture in the center. Come here and try it out! CASHONLY and this place closes on Wednesday! P. S. It also gets pretty cold in here since they like to blast the AC.

I was first told about this place when my friend described how good the burgers with eggs were at this place. I thought it was interesting(with an egg in the burger?) as I was salivating over her descriptions. Then when someone else suggested going to this place, I had to say yes! The burgers were so good and the patties were marinated differently than what you’ll probably ever try. I always get the 101 burger which comes with two patties of either pork or beef, an egg and your usual condiments. Each burger comes with fries and these cheesey potato balls. I think only once, my bf got his burger with RAW meat inside and they tried to make up for it with a decent salad that we would never want to order if they offered it on the menu. sorry! =T I also suggest getting the Big Daddy burger(with cheese inside the patty) and the curry burger. There is also a special for students that you’ll see on the wall. The only thing that they can highly improve on would be their drinks. Their tea drinks are so watered down and the mango drink that was seen on the menu really does not look like that. Oh, and that is kinda watered down, too. We now never order any drinks here and we’d rather drink water or our own saliva(do not like the taste of tap water lol). Fix your drinks!!!

This place stuck out to me because I used to call my Holland Lop bunny«Bun Bun» as his nickname. «Oh how cute, ‘Bun Bun’». Who would have thought that they sell burgers here and Taiwanese style burgers nonetheless! Anyway, came here one day with 4 of my coworkers for lunch since a couple of them had been here before and wanted us to try it. Upon entering, it smelled so strong of cleaner and/or bleach. The smell really threw me off. OK, I’m glad that they are cleaning the place, but I didn’t want to have the smell lingering while I’m eating. We had to move some tables together to be able to fit our Party of 5. The tables weren’t very big and the wood seats are small, awkward and uncomfortable to sit in. Our group orders: (2) Taiwanese Beef Burger $ 6.50 101 Tower Burger $ 7.75 Taiwanese Style Fried Chicken $ 5.95 Black Pepper Beef with Egg Rice Bun $ 7.25 After 10 minutes of ordering, we were notified that the boba was not ready. Two of us had ordered a drink with boba but we stated that we would wait 15 minutes for it. One of my coworkers orders hot water and our server stated that it was in the microwave and then brings it out in a tiny Styrofoam cup for her. The food actually took a really long time. We waited about 35 minutes before the first burger came out and one of our poor coworkers didn’t have any food in front of him for a good 45 minutes. As soon as I pick up my burger to take a look at its contents, I notice a strand of hair staring right back at me…(great) The boba drinks came out halfway through our meal and I didn’t think they were anything special. My coworker got Iced Fresh Milk with red bean, honey boba & caramel and from the looks, I’m not sure she quite enjoyed it. I don’t dislike«fusion» food, but everything they served here was just not my thing. The burger was too sweet for my taste, the fries & potato ball were too oily and the drinks weren’t that great. The service was super slow so this wouldn’t make a great place to come for lunch during a work day if you have to get back to the office. If I’m really craving a burger, then find me at In-n-Out!

oh man, if you go here please get the potato balls! Careful it’s hot. Parking: sucks during busy hours, best not to look for parking when you’re hangry The burgers were yummy, the taiwanese burger and the big daddy burger tasted the same to me. The only difference I noticed was that the big daddy patty was bigger. The burger meat was sweet and delicious Service was great.

Groupon Deal: $ 10 for 2 Burgers, 2 Fries & Potato Balls and 2 Drinks! *CASHONLY* We came here a lil before they opened and the owner told us we could wait inside while they were setting up. It was raining outside so it was really nice of him =) Ordered: *Taiwanese Beef & Juicy Pork Burger: I’m not a fan of their patty. It’s a weird texture, kinda rubbery, yuck! The bun was good though =) *Fries & potato ball: Ok… I’ve had better. Their house dressing was bleh… *Iced Green and Honey Lemon Tea: Both were good. Tip: Be patient. Why? It takes about 15 mins for the food to come out and probably longer if it’s busy… Service: Good Parking: shared lot with other businesses. Avoid coming on weekends, it gets crazy!

I love Taiwanese Hamburgers. They are absolutely delicious and the only thing that rivals my love for a Taiwanese hamburger is a hamburger from In-n-out.Came here for a Groupon $ 10 for 20 for a set meal. Having just returned from Taiwan, Jessica Y was wondering how much this place would hold up to a Taiwanese burger in Taiwan. I guess there was only one logical way to find out ^_^ Taiwanese Hamburger: First off I want to say that nothing in the US really compares with a Taiwanese hamburger however with that being said this place does a pretty good job with the quality of taste. The potato ball and the tea were pretty tasty as well! Service: Not bad. Spoke Chinese with the owners and they were cool. *They have student specials and specials in general so keep an eye out for that. *Cash Only BTW J Yeezy

After a hike around Sturdevant Falls and Hermit Falls, my friend and I were trying to figure out what we can eat to gain all those calories back that we burned. Hopped on Unilocal and checked for places that I bookmarked. Saw Bun Bun Tea House. I remembered all the good things Michelle K had to say about this place, so decided to give this place a go. Food: Got the Big Daddy Burger, French Fries, Potato Ball w/cheese inside, Onion Rings, and a Iced Milk w/honey boba. The burger was pretty damn good. They inject the patty with mozzarella cheese. Mmm Mmm. GOOD! And they have a new check-in offer, if you check in on Unilocal or facebook you can get a free side or 10% off on a drink. So went with the onion rings. And those were crunch and pretty damn good too! The drink was good too. But I was full from the burger and everything, that I couldn’t finish it. Service: Attentive and good. Parking: Asian parking lot. So park at your own risk. haha jk. Ok maybe i’m not. But yes. You know the deal. Will I come back? HELLYEAH!

I have always wanted to name my future fat cute bunny, Bun Bun. So as my friend suggested this location, I was intrigued and perplexed by the name of course. ANYWAYS, to be honest, I went to this restaurant about 4 years ago. However, I still remembered my order of the #3 Taiwanese Burger. Their juicy homemade patties and homemade bun bun sauce definitely hit the spot as I went for my 2nd or 3rd dinner that night. It destroyed drowned-in-oil-McDonald’s-burgers. Of course it costed more than the $ 1.16 burger, but it was well worth it for the quality. BUNBUNSAUCE, what are you? Because I used every drip of it for my burger, fries, AND potato ball! Customer service was awesome. The staff was friendly, and welcoming. The tables are a bit weird and interesting as we were seated in the middle one. The staff were not rushing or pushing us to get out as we played monopoly deals for 3 hours. Looking back, I wish I had revisited this restaurant more when I went back home!

I’ve loved Bun Bun Tea House from the beginning and I like to bring my friends here. It’s never terribly crowded, I can just order my drinks and be on my merry way. Their staff is very friendly and are helpful. I’m not impressed by their Taiwanese(meat patty ) burgers or appetizers, but the have been a hit in the community of Arcadia. There’s something about sweet meat in the form of a hamburger patty that just doesn’t do it for me. Their drinks are great, though I usually order mine less sweet. I recommend their passion fruit or peach black tea or their iced milk drinks which don’t have tea(you can pick from a combination of three items like pudding, caramel, boba, coffee jelly, mango).( ) They have a stamp card, buy 10 get 1 free. You can still get stamps along with their Unilocal check-in offer of 10% off your drink order OR free appetizer(fries, onion rings or potato balls). Their stamp is adorable( )!!! Located in the same complex as Arcadia Supermarket, Bun Bun replaced Genki Living.

Came because of the rice buns. We came in around noon? and I guess they just opened because there was no one else in there. The place has like 3 tables so it was pretty small. What we got: Spicy Chicken w/Rice Bun($ 7.50): I don’t know if it was the rice bun that killed it, but I didn’t really like it at all. The chicken wasn’t that spicy and the rice had teriyaki sauce? or something like that on it, but it was… interesting. I don’t think I’d get this again at all. The chicken wasn’t dry, but the flavoring on it wasn’t all that good. Three Flavor Chicken w/Rice Bun($ 7.50): I couldn’t tell the difference between the spicy chicken and three flavor chicken. The spicy chicken was a little little bit spicier, but you could barely tell. And again… the chicken was pretty juicy, but I still don’t know what three flavor chicken tastes like. Iced Milk w/Caramel, Pudding, and Lychee Jelly($ 4.50): they didn’t have boba so they replaced it for me with lychee jelly. The drink is similar to the Iced Milk from Half&Half and which was the reason I got it. It was pretty good, but wasn’t as good as Half&Half. And Half&Half is cheaper… Service: There was one guy taking the orders and another lady in the back? The lady came out and asked us if we liked it and that next time we should try the regular burgers. So I would give it another chance and actually try the regular burgers with regular buns instead of the rice buns. The other guy taking the order was nice as well. He was patient since it was our first time there. Brought us napkins and refilled my BF’s water every time he walked by. So yeah… we will be back to try the regular bun burgers!

Hell yes, rice burgers in America! Closest thing to the MOS burger( ) you can find in Japan/Taiwan while here in the states. If you never tried a burger using rice as its buns, you’re in for a treat. Those wacky Japanese people, who uses rice to replace bread? Ridiculous! I got the Black Pepper Beef Rice Burger which was legit, came hot and juicy after quite the wait. Another item that stood out on the menu was the peanut butter burger, which sounds disgusting, but don’t knock it till you try it. Fries are pretty standard but the one potato ball that came with the burger combo was appetizing in its delicious fried starchiness, order a side of those instead. I don’t have an opinion for their drinks but they have the usual stuff you find at any boba café such as honey boba, tea, slushy drinks, etc. Don’t come if you’re in a rush. The cooking time for the food took a while and prior to even ordering, the one waiter took his sweet time hanging outside with his friends to take the order. Yep, Chinese run place for sure, so expect absolute crap for service. Although the burger isn’t quite the same in taste as MOS, its unique enough to warrant a try. Just cheggit.

Ahhh bun bun tea house, you are so delicious. Had the chance to try the Spicy chicken with egg burger with the crispy rice«bun». The wait took a bit long, but that’s probably because they make the buns and food fresh. The meal came with a generous portion of french fries and had honey mustard dipping sauce that came with it. I really enjoyed my burger. The chicken was flavorful! and it made it all the better that they had a fried egg with it. yum yum yum! My server was really funny and joked around with him as we waited for our food. I wish they had more seating though, they definitely have room for it!

Taiwanese burgers… seriously??? Yes, Taiwanese don’t only make café food(and other stuff i could never name) butttt… they also enjoy burgers! Difference: –They have their own sauce(sort of like in n out spread) which is actually very good! –they put fried eggs in their burgers –they offer ground beef patties they make themselves. or for the non-beef eaters. PORKTOO!(as well as fish. and even a shrimp burger) –Burger + fries + Potato ball +… BOBA… and their tea is pretty good as well. Overall I really enjoy this place and would come back again and again. bring friends, family, strangers even! service is also great :)

Fellow Unilocalers Anthony N, Lei B, Sophia N and I were looking for a place to dodge the heat and a search on the Unilocal app led us to this new Taiwanese café. Their menu includes an extensive list of Taiwanese burgers, appetizers, boba drinks, and shave ice. The rectangular interior is defined by a mural of the Taipei 101 skyline, flat screen TV, small couches and tables along the walls, and an open kitchen in the back. The vibe was festive with lots of young couples and twenty-something groupies hanging out. We shared an order of Potato Butter Balls($ 3.99) that came with six mashed potato balls fried to golden on the outside and soft on the inside. I thought the exterior could be crispier and the dipping sauce that tasted like a hybrid of thousand island and honey mustard could be much improved. Conceptually speaking, it was a poor rendition of the Potato Puffs from Gregoire. I’d be interested in trying their Fried Taro Balls($ 3.99) on the next visit. I also had the chance to try their Iced Milk with Taro and Honey Boba($ 4.50). The price was high but the drink was sizable with lots of boba that floated from top to bottom. They used a mix of fresh and powdered taro to cause the artificial flavor to dominate. The quality of the boba was decent and not the best. There were a mix of boba balls that had the«QQ effect» while I also discovered a few that were undercooked at the bottom. The degree of sweetness for the drink was decent but the use of powder really took away the authentic taro experience. Service was confusing as the protocol was unclear as to whether we needed to order at the counter or wait for someone to attend to our table. Anthony was kind and generous to bus our table at the beginning, and later our serving of boba didn’t come at the same time with our drinks which was a bit disappointing. Otherwise, the servers were friendly, receptive to our honest feedback, and offered to replace anything we didn’t like at the table. Overall, all the signs pointed to their growing pains as a new café. The best part was their ability to take feedback so I hope the service protocol and quality of food can be upgraded by my next visit. 2.5 stars for the overall experience. I’d be willing to come back to give them another try.

I’m SO happy there is a new tea house in the area because all of the other ones are filled with people that smoke outside and kinda ruin it for everyone else. Bun Bun is a nice place to chill at and enjoy quality time with friends. My favorite is the peach green tea made with less sugar. Can I just pause for a second and admire the fact that I can customize the sugar level? It brings a smile to my face. I’ve also tried the mango yogurt slush and it is AMAZING. Tastes like a refreshing mango pudding. The décor is nice. I’m loving the art on the wall and who could resist the cute little cats??? GOGOGO and bring your friends :)
