Walked in and was placed at a dirty table that we asked repeatedly to be wiped down and never was, ended up having to do it myself. Waited 10 minutes to be even acknowledge by the wait staff to get our drink order. Our waitress didn’t show up till another 10 minutes later after we asked another waiter for our drinks. After we finally were able to flag down our waitress to order our food, which took another 10 minutes, we finally received our food. I got the Thursday special, jambalaya Pasta, which is also a chef special. My meal was mediocre at best. The chicken and sausage was way over cooked and dry, the shrimp was rubbery and was not fresh(which is unacceptable considering the restaurant’s proximity to shrimp packers and the bay) the sauce was bland and this meal just did not live up to the 16.95 price range. The place was covered in flies and to be honest the best thing was the cute feral cats roaming around the property(including the dining areas) all in all I would not recommend redfish willies.

The waitstaff were friendly and it’s located with a scenic view. The blackened redfish served with rice and peas was over salted and also the chicken sausage gumbo was oversalted. The flavor was there, but the saltiness took over the dishes. Wanted to eat outside, but there were 2 cats that kept roaming around the tables and that was a turn off.

We’ve been there 3 times in the past 5 months and each time the food was very good(and great depending on what you order), drinks and service were good. The atmosphere can’t be beat and is better than Paradise Key. I love being near the marina, it’s grounds are spacious and good for cocktails, just a beer unwinding with appetizers or the works. Went there 5⁄20 around 8:00 and had entertainment, it was crowded but we got to sit but couldn’t order food right away as they were back logged. Still everything lent itself to a perfect evening with our guests. Good highlights based limited experience: excellent soups, gumbo, salads, fish, and more. By the time we ordered they ran out of prime rib but it looked fabulous as dis the larger baskets. You have to try it out!

We have just returned from Popeye’s with a shrimp trunk dinner. What does this have to do with Redfish Willie’s? Therein lies the tale. Our experience with this restaurant has been up and down over the years. Our last post was after a change in chef(also ownership?). We said we would not go back, but we lied and our return visit had been great. Tonight we took five friends to Redfish Willie’s, a restaurant at which none of them had previously eaten. Each chose a more complicated entrée while my wife and I stuck with the tried and true shrimp basket. The dinners came out for the other five but not for us. After the others had been eating for awhile the server came back to check on us and noticed we had not gotten our order. She said she would go back and«kick the cook in the knee» and our order would be right out. Another fifteen minutes she came back as our five guests were finishing their meals and again said she would go back and«kick him in the knee» and get our order righty out. We told her to forget it, the others were through eating. She then asked my wife and I if we would like a dessert, although we had not had dinner. Therefore we stopped at Popeye’s on our way home to purchase the meal we had spent an evening our waiting for, and got it in three minutes. We will not be recommending this restaurant again to our friends, or even our enemies. A very embarrassing Saturday evening out.

I saw a photo of the shrimp creole on Unilocal.Great presentation but the reality is much less flavorful. I won’t have it again. My friends enjoyed the gumbo. The onion loaf was very tasty although a slow form of suicide according to nutritionists. Our server tried her best but was overworked so we exercised much patience. Overall experience was under our expectations.

BEWAREFOODPOISONING– Took my wife and 2 year old here and within 2 hours my son and I were throwing up and sick from the fried fish. First and last time we eat here and I will tell all my family and friend to avoid Redfish Willies.

How disappointing! Took my family for lunch to Red fish Willie’s today Saturday around 1:00 pm. Place was totally empty, seriously, no one was there to eat, should have read the sings. Never the less, we were hungry and Unilocal had great reviews, did I mention we were the only ones there at lunch time on a Saturday? My son ordered the goat cheese salad which was very presentable and tasted great. Crab cake was some what disappointing, too salty. My wife ordered shrimp creole which was Okay, bot not WOW! But what I ordered was a complete failure. The Grilled Shrimp. WASNOTGRILLED, But Pan sated. Tasted like HEB, VIETNAMESEIMPORTEDFROZENSHRIMP. NOTOUROWNGULFWILDCOGHT. Thanks WILLIEFORNOTSUPPORTINGOURLOCALSHRIMPERS. Carrots were an after taught, Store pre packed, short cut, cracked ends and all. Cooked with a lot of butter. Food was over salty and flavorless. SOSAD! Wont go back, GREATVIEWTHOGH.

This is my second time here and I hope it NEVER closes its doors! I had the pulled pork fries as the appetizer and the Captains Platter, fried of course, as my main course. This platter is a generous portion of food maybe even enough for two! Flavor is a solid 4.5+ and the service is also great. at least on this day.

Great food, and service! Nice view. Outside seating. Bad directions on this Unilocal app. We found it anyway.

Decided to give this place another shot, because they reached out to me and said they had a new chef, so I gave it a try for Friday night dinner. I ordered tortilla crusted ahi with green beans and mushrooms and cilantro rice. It took about 30 – 40 minutes for the food to come out, and I was a little annoyed, but the server did acknowledge that it was taking a while, so I decided to give it a little longer. The plate came out, and it was gorgeous. The fish was crusted with red and white tortilla, lain on a bed of Thai chili sauce, and topped with chopped papaya and red onion(not really a salsa, as advertised). I was very impressed, and took a bite of the green beans.delicious. Garlicy, buttery, and perfectly Al dente. Next was the rice. Stone cold. I think they forgot to heat it up. It wasn’t even room temperature. Lastly, the fish. The crust and the fish beneath it were very bland. No seasoning at all. The bed of Thai chili sauce made up for a few bites. But not really enough for two fillets. Sadly, the papaya and red onions couldn’t balance the overpowering blandness of the tortilla crusted fish either. Still a really nice location, and they had live music on the night I was there. I probably won’t go back.

If you have been here before, you have not been here. Jeremy is the new chef and is upping the game in Aransas Pass. Great food at reasonable prices and Sherial our server made it a wonderful experience. Specials this week include Ahi Tuna appetizer, it would be a meal with a cup of their gumbo, a Jambalaya Pasta, pleasantly spicy, great flavors, creamy sauce makes you anxious for the next bite. The Redfish dinner was amazing, the blackened spices were well balanced, the jumbo shrimp were perfectly grilled and tbe crabcake is literally melt in your mouth goodness. Topped it all off with a bread pudding to die for, you have to come try it!!!

Great food and friends! This is right on the water seating is open to the outdoors or under a ramada. They have live music regularly. The food was excellent but a little pricy. The beer was Cold! Overall, a sleeper in the community with excellent food. Would go again. Gumbo and shrimp are excellent.
