All Creatures Great and Small

Our dog loves this place, which means we do too. We have a very extroverted golden retriever, so having other dogs to play while we are on vacation is like a vacation for him as well. The owners clearly love animals and he is treated like one of the family. We now have no reservations about going on vacation.

Had a great experience here! Brought Frankie to stay for about a week while I was on vacation. Though he was a little intimidated by the other dogs at first, he quickly got used to it, and by the time I got back, he didn’t even seem to notice I returned because he was having so much fun!
The couple running this home day care clearly really love dogs! Frankie had plenty of room to run around in the yard.
Would definitely bring Frankie back!

My boyfriend and I took a last minute trip to Chicago, and the usual place (Arbor Dog) we board our lab mix, Molly, was filled for the weekend. Out of desperation we took her to All Creatures (not to be confused with the vet!), an in-​home doggie daycare and boarding run by a woman who seems to have little to no training as a behavioralist. The environment was very disruptive to our dog (lots of noise, little space), and the woman running it could not have been ruder. She did not let us know (after refusing to let us bring Molly by in the afternoon) that we only had a half-​hour window to drop Molly off, and she called in an incredible rush and stressed panic, accusing us of being irresponsible when she did not let us know that she was working on a deadline.
I’m sure this place is fine if you have a very logey/​low-​key dog, but for an easily anxious and stressed pup like ours, the combination of the woman’s temperament and the dirty/​chaotic environment of the house was far too much. Good reminder that we have to do our research before dropping our dog off somewhere; we were lucky we were only gone for two days.
