Teriyaki Box serves decent lunch, but it’s always very slow. I recommend avoiding it if you have an hour or less for lunch, because you typically have to wait about 20 minutes to get your food. The menu has been downsized quite a bit. The food is pretty good, but nothing too special. However, it’s less expensive than a lot of other fare in downtown Anchorage, and is nicely casual. The udon is great – I recommend udon soup with eitehr wontons, dumplings, or both.(Cost is about $ 8 or $ 9.)

I like this place and I work downtown so its really convenient. However, they are incredibly slow. I was there the other day and it took almost 30 minutes to get my food. The place wasn’t all that busy so I’m not sure what took so long. I think they prepare everything fresh, which is a good thing, but not if you’re in a hurry. I ordered the Yakisoba noodles with beef and it was delicious. I’ve called in orders before and they’ve always been ready and waiting. I think its probably best to do this if you’re time is limited. There food is really good and so I will be back.

One word SLOW. The food was ok, the wait was horrible, it took over 25 mins to get our food. Also NO parking, any street metered parking were reserved. The parking lot next door, convenient yes. but $ 10 for 0 – 2 hrs. So yeah, not worth the time or expense.

Food is good, but it smells like mop water when I first walked in and the bathroom smelled even worse. The tables were clean, but they were still sticky. I’m wondering when the last time they changed their mop and cleaning water.

During a recent stay at the Captain Cook Hotel, we walked past this place a few times and I was leery of giving it a try because, well, it lacks curb appeal. But we took a chance this evening and found it clean and orderly inside — a good start. We learned that it’s under new management. Not having dined here before, I had no basis for knowing if the food is now better, but if you eat in, they’ll deliver your meal to your table(hmm ok). Of course, they have the requisite teriyaki beef, chicken, and salmon. But the menu also includes sushi rolls and an assortment of noodle dishes. Our meals were quite excellent for the price we paid. Added bonus: The entrees include a side of mixed steamed bean sprouts, cabbage and julienned carrots — not something you’d expect at a teriyaki joint, and surprisingly good.

After reading some reviews of this place I decided to go check it out for myself. Ambiance: Touristy. Downtown location making there money off of court house workers with short lunch hours and tourists looking for a place close to Captain Cook. Staff: A lot of smiles from the two people I seen. Food: Plastic forks and you clean up your own table. I ordered the Combo A(Beef & Chicken Teriyaki) I was completely dumbfounded at how small the meal was. The beef was pretty much jerky. Although the chicken was juicy and tasted OK, it was something I could have made with 50 cents worth of chicken and 5 cents worth of teriyaki sauce. All in all, I left the place wishing I had stopped somewhere to eat lunch. Prices: High Combo A: 11.95 Juice: 2.00 I would leave this place to the tourists, as you can easily find better food at better prices.

I’ll eat here out of necessity but not out of joy. I work nearby and when I don’t bring a lunch, this place will do. But I encourage myself to bring lunch to avoid spending money here. The food is blah — I’ve had the dark meat teriyaki chicken($ 8.50) and the wonton/dumpling udon soup. The teriyaki chicken was fine for fast-food chicken, but I don’t like that it’s cheapest plate on the menu. The wonton/dumpling udon soup was blah — pretty salty and tasteless with overdone dumplings. The wontons are better. It took our group over 30 minutes to get food there once, and for a fast food place that’s simply too long.

I have been here about 10 times over the years now. When it is cold outside their soup is wonderful. That is my most favorite thing here(the Soup). It is a little high priced though. $ 10.00 for a container of seafood soup. It only had one scallop and 4 shrimp. But, it is good and always made fresh. The family run business is nice because, they are very friendly and the restaurant is always clean. I love the décor, heavy wood with big windows looking out on everything around you. Great location, right on the corner. For Japanese food is is a must. The fish is always fresh and cooked when you order it.

My friends insist that it is mediocre food, but I harbor a deep love and appreciation for the T-Box. Their fresh spring/summer roll is generally quite good, their dumpling soup is noteworthy and offers a large portion for your money, and I love the yaki soba noodles with chicken. I recommend loading up on the teryaki sauce and siracha in the little cups provided if you are getting take out. They also don’t have fountain drinks, so I recommend taking advantage of the little water cooler directly behind you when you order.

This little place gave me just what I was looking for — delicious dumpling noodle soup. I did takeout and brought it back to my hotel room. It was pretty empty when I went in, and it took them less than 10 minutes to get our orders ready to go. Staff was friendly, I was impressed with the selection of authentic sauces to go with the meals.

I eat here almost every time I am in town. The soup servings are HUGE, but need seasoning as they are bland. I can’t recommend the tempura vegetables, every time I give them a try they are a big gummy mess. The stand out item here is the freshly made sushi, it just melts in your mouth! The chicken box is usually a safe choice too. I find the best time to get there is around 3pm, or you will be in for a wait!

Not sure why this place is always packed, other than it being downtown near a bunch of federal buildings. The food is mediocre at best. Not bad, but not worth a recommendation at all. The teriyaki chicken I had was very bland, and needed something extra. Luckily, the condiment table had enough stuff for me to concoct a dipping sauce to make it good enough to eat. You’d think the dish this place is named after would be a stand out. I definitely won’t be going out of my way to come back here.

This little place is located in a Prime Location Downtown, in front of the Courthouses, so they get plenty of business from that, and also very close to the Hotel Captain Cook, which gives them alot of tourist traffic. I have not been overwhelmed bu the menu or the items they serve, but they do a thriving business, and have been there forever. I think alot of has to do with their Salmon and Halibut meals, as this is a staple up here, and of course tourists are always wanting to try our local fish. The Box will fill you and do in a pinch, but if you look across the street, you will see some of the«Reindeer Sausage and Hot Dog stands…, no place to sit, but they are damn good…:) Like I said try the box, it might just be me…

This place hit the spot! We were on our way to the Lucky Wishbone when we decided at the last minute not to jam our arteries full of grease, and I’m glad we did. I got the Chicken Box, which came with a sliced, boneless teriyaki chicken thigh, steamed rice, and stir fried cabbage with mixed vegetables. Everything was fresh and well made. The teriyaki chicken was very tasty, but the vegetables on the side were even better. If you’re looking for a cheapish, healthy lunch or dinner, this is your joint.

This is a great place for lunch downtown. The food is all fresh when you order it and the list gives enough options so even vegetarians can eat well. It is located in an area surrounded by government and law/accounting firms so I would suggest you try to get there before 12 or after 1:30 otherwise you will be waiting a while for your food. You can call ahead for your meals and they also have a good sized seating area.

If you have a hankerin’ for teriyaki, why not go here? The food was okay — not great, but I didn’t get food poisoning. We had chicken fried rice, and teriyaki beef. I’ve better, but again, it’s Alaska. It’s in a comfortable spot, and from the front door you can see the ocean(very cool).
