I’ve been here twice. The line has been ridiculous both times. Midday on a week day. They should really install self serve kiosks. So they have kiosks, they’re just inside. I’m never waiting in line here again. Wife had to pee, bought the tickets at the kiosk. Then she went out to where I was waiting in line, and waved me in.

Simple nice theatre. Clean. Nice staff. I enjoyed it totally. But the sign a little skeptical about. We check bags and purses. No. No you will not lol. I didn’t happen with me but that’s peculiar. Especially after I spend my money on a ticket.

Tikahtnu Theater, one of the many Regal Cimenas here in Anchorage. I love this movie theater and I must have seen a dozen movies here over the last year. If you have a Regal Card(which is free– just ask for it at the front counter when you buy your movie– there’s no paperwork or anything involved), you can earn points and redeem them for free movie tickets. You don’t only have to go to this particular theater on Muldoon Road either; you can go to any Regal Cinema and earn points. Anywho– this theater is great. A bit pricey, but not too bad for Alaska. The Imax movies usually cost $ 17 and that’s what I tend to go to. They have a huge curved screen, surround sound, and an amazing viewing experience. Their normal theater rooms are also great. Both the Imax and normal theaters have very comfy seating. The chairs are well-cushioned and spaced out nicely. I have occasionally gotten a ‘squeaky chair’(that squeaks when I move around), but I’m sure that happens when chairs get well-used. The chairs do have armrests that have cup holders. The armrests can also be moved up and out of the way. Not all movie theaters have this feature with the seating, but this is something that I REALLY love in movie theater seating. When I go on a date to the movies– I want to cuddle with the person I’m sitting next to. That’s impossible to do with an armrest in the way, so the fact these can be moved out of the way is a plus in my book. The theater is kept very clean and I’ve never walked in to find spilled popcorn or sticky floors from the last movie played. They do a great job ensuring that the theaters are well taken care of, trash free, and have no junk left behind between play times. The movies always start exactly on time and I’ve never had any ‘technical difficulty’ sort of issues at this theater. The concession stand is very expensive and has a limited array of items. You won’t find traditional candy bars here(like Snickers and Reeces), but you will find normal movie theater food like slushies, hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, and gummy worms. They’re extremely overpriced, as are most movie theater concessions, though. So go in planning to spend an extra $ 10 to $ 20 if you want food with your movie. With that being said, they’re typically pretty good about adequately staffing the concession area, so there’s rarely a long line. The movies play in great quality; very clear picture on easily viewable screens. The chairs are spaced in a way that no matter your height(or the height of the person in front of you), you’re going to be able to see the movie just fine. The lighting is done very professionally(so you can see if you need to leave the theater, but it isn’t distracting). The sound quality is always great– although some action movies can get a bit loud during certain parts. If you are going to see a movie in Imax the seating in the front can get a bit overwhelming because you’re so close to such a large screen. I suggest sitting in the back. The other theaters have comfortable seating at all angles. Overall, though, I love this theater. I’ve had some great memories made here going to movies with friends and boyfriends on different weekends. It’s a fun place, well-maintained, that plays great movies.(And if you get there too early there’s also a sweet little arcade with traditional games to keep you busy for a while!).

A great movie theater for Alaska. I think this is the nicest it gets all things considered. If you’re here for a new movie it’s probably a good idea to watch it on a weekday or arrive early. Speaking of new movies, theater #9 is pretty great. The seats are very comfortable and the screen is pretty generous. One thing I don’t like about this theater is that if you have a question at the concession stand the employees usually don’t have an answer and they don’t even entertain the question… it’s just a simple«I don’t know». They seem to lack in customer service or people skills. Aside from that, this is probably the only nice movie theater in Anchorage. I recommend their rewards program since sometimes you can accumulate points for a few small drink, popcorn, or other things.
