im not going to say names but my experience here was not good, also the job wasnt good. she did a student level job when she is one of the best ones there. plus its not cheap.

First time coming here they are close by to my home and work. Staff is very friendly and the owner Anita is awsome she understood what I wanted. She explained alot since I haven’t got a spiral perm in ages. Anyways she really took care of me.

I made an appointment yesterday for a blowout. It was a small studio in the corner that was difficult to find. The lady on the phone said I could be late since I needed an appointment at 4:30. I finally call to ask for help, no answer. I finally ended up finding it myself, but no one was there! Ruined my day! I now have to SCRAMBLE to find another salon in Napa through this terrible traffic. I can totally understand if you need to leave or whatever but CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW. You have my number for a reason.

Thank you for your reply Emily. If I am wrong I again understand, but I left the salon at 4:25. No one was there. I also have call records for me calling at 4:20. My appointment was supposed to be made at 4:30 and they said they’ll make it at 4 for some reason and that if I’m late that is ok. Which is why I needed the appointment at 4:30. If your stylist said he/​she was there that just isn’t true.

Emily is great. She really listened to what I needed and made me super comfortable. Can’t wait to lighten up this August.

EMILY is the absolute best hairstylist I have ever gone to! Not only is she extremely personable, as well as professional, she is very talented and gives gorgeous highlights and haircuts! I went back to her for more summer, golden-​blonde highlights and a haircut. Once again, she did an exceptional job and I left the salon feeling and looking fantastic!
If you are looking for a stylist that is experienced, professional and does an amazing job — than Emily is your girl! Thank you so much Emily! I love my hair and I can’t wait to come back for my touchups and another cut. I would never go to or trust anyone else with my hair! Emily rocks!

2^nd time I’ve been here with Liz.
She’s amazing. :)
1^st time: I came in to get a trim, she spent her time listening to what I wanted and she consulted with me for a good 10 mins then the cut came. I liked my cut but I loved the experience more than anything. She actually wants to get to know you and I love that. She made me feel so welcome.
2^nd time: I came in with a crazy idea to die my hair an ombré like effect. I have short hair and it’s been dyed numerous times. It had reddish brown tones and if anyone knows anything about dyes, bleaching red out gets a brassy colored blonde. So after 4 hours my hair was transformed. I loved it! Kudos for Liz for staying 4 hours until 10pm just so I could have the hair I wanted. Thanks Liz!!!

Emily did an amazing job on my hair. I love my new look and she was so helpful with her consulting. I actually came in wanting something different and I’m so happy she talked me out of it. Another great thing is that she used great quality products, it’s so healthy and pretty and I haven’t had to wash it in a few days and it still looks GREAT! :)

I am extremely happy with my color correction. I came in a hot mess from another salons bad attempt at an all over red and Liz fixed me. I’ve been researching and hearing everyone say just dye it brown (my only hope), but no… She took her time to go through my hair and find the perfect colors to balance me out! I no longer feel like Ronald McDonald. Thank you Liz :)

LIZ Rocks! Skilled Colorist and very professional. I’m new to the area and had tried a couple other salons who failed on basic customer service. I’m DONE! I found my Stylist/​Colorist. I couldn’t be happier. Nice, clean Salon also. I even called just before closing and she still made me feel so welcome. Call Liz!

This place does not deserve 5 stars due to not calling back to make or confirm an appointment. Called twice and no call back. Not happy.

Another great cut from Emily! You will not find a better stylist anywhere. Emily takes the time to talk to you about you want and what will work with your texture, features, color, etc. Once she does your hair you will not want to go anywhere else. I promise!

Spur of the moment haircut and got an appointment right away. I believe I had Anita? Not sure. anyways. I decided to do something I’ve never done before, above the shoulder cut. She really took the time to ask me exactly what I wanted. I even showed her some pictures I had in mind and asked just cut it to my face shape. I’m very satisfied. Also, I’m awkward when people try to talk to me to make convo, so I’m glad I didn’t have to talk about the weather or the weekend or other normative stranger topics.

Emily is AWESOME! I came in to get a hair cut that took my locks from just above my middle back to Halle Berry short! She did a phenomenal job and was a pleasure to spend an hour and a half with! I am so glad I came to her and I will definitely be back.

Being new to Napa, I turned to Unilocal ratings for direction and help to find a new stylist I could trust… and I am so glad that I did! I took several reviewers’ advice and booked an appointment with Emily. She is AMAZING and so talented. I kind of had «a lot going on» with my hair when I first sat down in her chair. She took lots extra time discussing what I we could do with my hair, since I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted, I just knew I wanted CHANGE! We started with the color /​highlights and while I was processing under the dryer, she sat with me and pulled up different pictures of hair styles that are in style, and that are coming in style for the fall on her phone. From the photos, I told her what I liked about various styles. When we went back to her chair, she incorporated the styles I liked and created her own cut on me. It turned out great and she taught me something I never knew about my hair… I have natural body!!! Emily gave me the option of blowing it out straight, or learning what I could do with my «new-​found body»!!! So I obviously picked to learn how to do my hair with waves, and she showed me all the little «tricks» I can do at home to get my hair to look like a professional did it! (She even let me have a «go» with taking the blow dryer and defuser and trying it myself.) Emily is amazing and it was a great experience from the minute I walked in, until the minute I walked out! Actually the «magic» really began the minute I walked out and took a picture of my new «do» in my car and sent it out to a few people and IMMEDIATELY received all great compliments on my hair! I felt great all day and continue to feel confident about myself (no more grey hairs showing!!!)
I can’t wait to go back for myself and I will be bringing my daughter to Emily for her hair cuts! I highly recommend visiting Studio 29, and especially booking with Emily!

It’s a late review but it’s better late than never. I actually found this salon through Unilocal (thank you) and based on the reviews I called and made an appointment with Emily. I went and was impressed with the overall look of the salon. So clean and have this trendy and sophisticated atmosphere. If you usually go to a salon like the one right next to safeway or raleys, you’re in for a treat. I thought they charge soo much (more than what my previous hairstylist charges) but to my surprise they are cheaper. And Emily, she really took her time and made sure my hair is treated right– no short cuts. I wanted something new and she suggested a haircolor that fits for me. I really love my haircut and haircolor. And I got a lot of complements. No more ponytails. Yes! Don’t settle for mediocre salons. Look for Emily.

Hmmmmmm. Where do I begin? I am extremely excited about this salon!
I met Emily today for highlights. She’s not only talented at her trade but she’s a firecracker and a joy to be around! Her quick witted demeanor and superb customer service skills are a cut above the rest.
The prices are very reasonable and the salon location is very convenient. I WILL definitely be recommending Emily to my friends and family and I will definitely be back for more from the hair goddess! !!!

I just had my hair colored and cut by Emily yesterday and I love it! I am very protective of my hair and am cautious of any hair stylist I go to. Emily is very personable, taking the time to consult with me about what my options were, making suggestions that would best suit my needs. She is very skilled and detail oriented. The end result was a beautiful ombré color and flattering haircut. Thanks, Emily, I’ll be back!

My hair was styled by Kayla. She’s a true professional at styling hair. She’s knowledgeable and makes recommendations that work for the individual. She styled and (color) blended my hair on this visit. It was so perfect that my wife didn’t notice that I had my hair done! I’ve been to other hair stylists who weren’t nearly as good as Kayla. I truly recommend Studio 29 Hair Design and Kayla!
Worth every dime spent!

I have tried this salon out twice, and both times were a disappointment. The first time I made the mistake of not bringing a photo reference for the hair stylist, but I explained the typical «man’s haircut» that I wanted, and she didn’t even use clippers. She seemed hesitant to cut my hair the way I wanted and kept it as long as possible in the most awkward places, and I ended up with some long on top and back with badly cut sides. Basically, a messed up love child of a mohawk and mullet when I wanted something like more pompador/​rockability.
The second time I came in it was with an older asian woman to do a simple a-​line bob haircut, and at the end, I found out they didn’t accept cards, which should’ve been mentioned first! They knew nothing about hair extensions, and I left with something choppy and again not what I wanted even though I brought multiple pictures this time!
Lastly, this place is very overpriced. Simple haircuts are upwards of $ 35, which the stylists I’ve been with butchered ontop of the price.
The shampooing and conditioning were the only parts I actually enjoyed. But again, they don’t seem to know anything about hair extensions, or unnatural hair colors.
Overall, I’ve had disapointing experiences here, and I’m done trying to go to this place.

Emily did a wonderful job on my cut & color. I had very very long hair and my color was faded and damaged by years of box colors and I wanted to do something drastic and new for this year. I envisioned an A-​Line cut with a lighter fresh color. I showed her some pictures of the cut & color I wanted to go for, she took her time to assess my hair and what she had in mind as far as what would look best on me. I knew I was going to be there for a while because of the color processing time and Emily did a wonderful job making me feel comfortable. Overall, I am overjoyed with the results of my hairdo. I can not believe how good it turned out! Everyone I know loves my new look and I am pleased to say that I have my own «hairdresser» now lol :) Go see Emily! You will not be disappointed!
