Their chicken mole is authentic. I spotted a grandma cooking it. It sure has a home feeling being family run.

I’ve known Rosita and her family since I was a kid, living in the area and coming here frequently is a no-brainer for me when i’m hungry. The food is always delicious and on top of that everyone there always make you feel welcome. I always recommend Rosita’s to people in the area looking for some mexican food to fill up on. Bring cash only!

Was looking for different lunch place to go with one of my out of town colleagues that was close to north Santa Clara. Good chips & salsa, mainly liked the red. Had the chicken mole and it was very good. Cheap, simple, tasty, hole in the wall type place.

Delicious and simple: this is a very simple place and the food is really good I just did a quick search in between my meetings and it was on my way. I ate taco salad with chicken and it was a good one– very cheap also

The food is good but the character of the workers or owners I should say are below par. They constantly changed their price on an item I would frequently order and when i asked for extra salsa they didn’t tell me they were charging me extra for it. And they smile all the time but watch out, these people will nickel and dime you. I confronted them about their constant price changing and the youngest of the women that works there argued with me… please don’t eat at this place. The food is good but the workers and or owners don’t have a clue about customer service…

The best way I can explain Rosita’s is that you find yourself transported to a dreamlike state where you can close your eyes and believe you are relaxing in Mexico. The place is homey and lovely, for those who have never ventured to Alviso I must say it is worth traveling to. Away from all freeway noise, Rosita’s is a tranquil sanctuary. We ate on the outside patio and along with the flowers and fresh summer breeze, we chowed down on delicious fresh Mexican fare, prepared to order. The menu is simple but offers all the good stuff. The chips and salsa verde/salsa rojo were so good, just the right amount of spice. I ordered a super chimichanga with carnitas served wet(what can I say, not really on a diet here) along with a ice cold Pacifico. Oh my god, I am not joking when I say that I was having a straight up moment with my food. The carnitas were crunchy yet tender at the same time, perfectly seasoned, and paired with the beans and cheese and crispy tortilla in the spicy salsas and sauce, I was transported to parallel world. It was like taking a mini vacation to Mexico with every bite. The staff here is so friendly and it feels like you have been invited to dine in someone’s home. I am going to return soon to sample more of the menu and to experience more of the wonderful hidden gem that is Rosita’s, and I recommend the same for you. If you are looking for a authentic Mexican meal in the Bay Area, it doesn’t get much better than this!

A nice family run restaurant where you are greeted with a smile and the salsas are home made. My go to dish is the steak(not ground beef) enchiladas with a fried egg on top. Rosita’s is located in a converted house and you can eat inside or at the outdoor covered patio. They offer good food at reasonable prices and friendly service.

This is a CASHONLY place. It’s a small restaurant and parking is hard to find. I’ve come here a couple times. I’ve had the regular vegetarian burrito and the super. The only difference between the burritos is the size and the amount of food they put in. There’s no extra ingredients in there like sour cream or guac or anything. The burritos themselves are pretty decent but I don’t think I’d come back here unless I added the other ingredients. Plus, I don’t carry much cash in general.

Went here for lunch around 1130 on a weekday. We beat the afternoon rush and the food and service were great. «Not blow me away I’ve found nirvana great» but more of a «food, atmosphere, service feels authentic type of great».(oh, –1 star for cash only with no sign or warning!)

Only one cook and it took over 20 mins for 3 orders! Should have called in advance and placed the orders over the phone! There was only one cook but I can’t complain because there was no one there around 2ish! I would give the enchiladas 3.5 because of the big portion! I got 2 enchiladas and I only finished half of one! It was okay, remind me of the Tina’s burritos you can buy at Safeway for .50 cents!

I would had never tried this place if it wasn’t for my cohort who took me here. I don’t usually venture around this area. The food was just average. Nothing really stood out. The chips are store bought and the salsa felt like it was missing a ingredients to take it to the next level. The rice and beans really bland. This hole in the wall is really outdated but very clean. The restroom felt like you were in someone’s house. The price reflects the food and abience. The service was great.

Rosita’s is a really swell little family-run Mexican restaurant that’s located in a converted house at the south end of Alviso. When you first walk into Rosita’s you feel like you’re walking into someone’s house and their abuela is in the kitchen cooking something special just for you. The food is not the greatest Mexican food I’ve ever had but no one I know has ever had a bad meal here. It’s mostly all homemade and you really can taste the authenticity that’s lacking in some of the surrounding restaurants(I’m looking at you Maria Elena’s!) This is definitely one of those places that you have to try a nice smattering of dishes before you can review and I had a good time conducting my research. Here are my findings. Sides: Chips and Salsa– Their Chips are store-bought but I really like the corny crunch they have. Their Red and Green salsas are homemade and they’re both muy bueno! I’m usually not a fan of Green Salsa but theirs might be the best I’ve had. 3*Chips/4.5*Salsa Rice and Beans– Pretty standard homemade Mexican Rice that’s nothing special. The homemade beans are very good. They’re actually quite simple and I think that’s what I like about them; they don’t overpower anything else on the plate and make a nice accompaniment. 3*Rice/4*Beans Tortillas– Their Tortillas are standard store-bought. I wish they were homemade like Lupita’s in North SJ. 2.5* Entrées: Super Burrito– Rosita’s Super Burritos aren’t your standard San José Super Burrito. Usually in SJ when you order a «Super» they come with Guacamole and Sour Cream, but at Rosita’s «Super» refers more to the size. I’ve ordered the Chile Colorado Super Burrito twice and been very happy both times. It comes with the standard Beans and Rice and the meat is fresh and spiced just right; it’s plenty big enough to fill you up. 3.5* Carnitas– This is a very unique take on the classic Carnitas. Typically Carnitas is deep-fried Pork Shoulder and not the slow-simmered stuff you find at less authentic places(still looking at you Maria Elena’s!) Rosita’s Carnitas is very reminiscent of fried pork machaca. It’s a little unusual but very tasty and addicting. 4* Chicken Mole– Rosita’s Chicken Mole is a pretty good version of my favorite Mexican dish. It’s nowhere near as complex, or as good, as my favorite Mole at El Tule. However, this would be a good starter Mole for someone who’s never had it before. 3.5* Service and Ambiance– The inside of Rosita’s is a little rundown and in need of a freshening up. The place is really clean and the atmosphere very casual. The service is very good and the lady who normally serves us is friendly, but not overly so. 4* Rosita’s is my third favorite hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in San José(behind El Tule and Lupita’s). They do a nice job of delivering good homemade Mexican comfort food in a friendly and relaxed environment. Recommended.

We went to this place as a lunch group from work. What I remember most was this one: my buddy dipped a chip into the salsa and scooped out a wad of used gum. We left before the order came to the table. Nice place!

Me and some of my coworkers stumbled on Rosita’s one afternoon! It’s got a quiet and unassuming charm! The staff is warm and now that we go there twice a month greet us with even bigger smiles! Now the food! We’ve tried everything on the menu, and EVERYTHING is awesome, but my usual orders are either the Chile Colorado or Cheese Enchilada! Everything comes with tasty bean and rice! And best yet! The prices are outstanding, but be sure to leave your credit card at home, they are cash/check ONLY!

It’s a little out of the way; but this is my fav Mexican restaurant in the Alviso/Santa Clara area. Half the charm of coming here is during through Alviso — it’s like you are transported to a different time. A little oasis in Silicon Valley. With respect to the food, everything I’ve tried has been good — but I usually stop by for their chicken soup. I’ve never had this type of chicken soup anywhere, lots of vegetables too. It’s so tasty, filling and healthy. And no don’t expect the chicken tortilla soup, it’s not. So different and so much better. Try it.

I can see why the reviewers raved about the carnitas. OMG! I’m not a Mexican food fan but I can see why the carnitas was recommended. Hubby said he hasn’t been here in years and we decided to come here for dinner tonight. I LOVE chimichanga and normally, the chimis I get are deep fried. NO, there cooked mine on the grill. Holy moley, it was awesome. The crunch on the tortilla and the carnitas was awesome. It was tasty and crunchy in some parts. Service was friendly and it was obvious, it’s a mom/pop restaurant. Actually, I overheard a conversation and it seemed Rosita was the cook. I also can see why this place has been around for years. I’m not a big Mexican food fan but for their carnitas chimichangas, I’ll come back here.

Alviso on the weekend is like stepping back in time. Or finding a small town in the San Joaquin Valley from whence we came. It is quiet, laid back, relaxed. Rosita’s is a wonderful respite from freeway driving and afterwards you can hike out on the salt marsh. Rosita’s is located on a corner in what looks to be an old house. The outdoor seating is quite charming, more so than the inside, but either place will get you some very good food. The green salsa is amazing so much so that we had to get some to go so we could share with our son-in-law. Horchata is ok, but served with too much ice. The carnitas are amazing. The beans are spot-on, too, not from a can or overly mushed up and called refried beans. Rosita’s definitely has the feel of eating at someone’s home in another time and another place. It is lovely.
