This place has probably the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. Perfect mix of ingredients including Linguica sausage, egg, bacon, cheese, potatoes and peppers. Mouth-watering flavor in every bite. The price is pretty reasonable as well. Highly recommended.

Went for breakfast. Based on ratings, we thought this was gonna be good. They offer three items for breakfast. Yup, three. I know it’s a small mom ‘n’ pop place, but three items. Well, we made it work. The food was good. The service was good. Would I go back? Maybe. I just like a little more variety. The three items are a breakfast sandwich: English muffin, cheese, fried egg, and bacon. Breakfast burrito: potatoes, linguica, eggs, potatoes, etc. Then, a granola dish of some sort. Just not my thing, but the food was definitely good if you like limited options.

Not the easiest place to find but by far one of my favorite lunch spots! If Alviso is the armpit of SJ, Lunch with Tony is the antiperspirant keeping it fresh! I would recommend the beef and muenster or the cheese steak! Sometimes I also get the pulled pork sliders. Everything here is fresh and home maid! Lunch with Tony also does really nice custom catering if you’re having a party or event!

I found out about Lunch with Tony from a co-worker who brought me a menu. I do all the catering for my team. I decided to go give them a try and decided that the food was solid. I had a big meeting last month and ordered their sandwiches for lunch one day and their breakfast burritos the next. The sandwiches are good but the burritos were super yummy. Those were a hit for our breakfast and the price was reasonable for the size of the burritos. The service is great. The delivery person was here early and helped me set everything up. They also had labels for everything, which other places normally do not provide. Overall, a good experience and will continue to eat here and request catering.

This is a great«go to» place. Great variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. The sweet potato fries are the best. Don’t forget to use a frequent diner card for freebies. Although I always miss out on the drink and go straight to the lunch.

Arrived to a few customers– 8 – 10 in the place. Ordered hot turkey sandwich to go. They give you a number plate and you sit and wait for them to bring it out. After 40 minutes and most other customers being served, I asked the counter lady if there was a problem. She looked at my number, asked what I ordered and then picked up the box in front of her and said«I don’t know why this is here». Needless to say I said the sandwich was cold and she said«you could put it in the microwave to reheat». Not going back!

I came here on a weekday and it wasn’t too full. We had a party of six so we sat outside; it was a nice day. I ordered half soup half sandwich, and it was more than $ 9 after tax! I got the Italian Panini and the Southwest chicken chowder. The sandwich was pretty good but it was small(I’m really glad I didn’t order just the sandwich), and the soup was okay. Plenty of chicken, but the flavor wasn’t very strong. A small salad came with my meal as well. Ambiance is nice, and food’s average(but expensive!!).

I work less than a mile away so I figured this place would be a good and quick place to stop where I don’t have to take a 90 minute lunch. There was plenty of parking and not much of a line. I should’ve figured it was too good to be true. $ 26 for a half salad/sandwich combo, a salad, and a cookie was pretty pricey for Alviso, but I was not one to shy away as a first timer. It did not take long to get my co worker and I’s food and we were both excited to dig in! He ordered the chicken Cesar salad and I ordered a half spicy turkey sandwich and half taco salad. He said his salad was mediocre but tasty and at that time I had only eaten a few bites of my salad, which sadly looked mediocre but tasted pretty good as well. I go to take a bite of my sandwich and I notice I received the wrong sandwich. All that was on this sandwich was literally a half slice of provolone and one piece of pepperoni. I decide to forego the complaint and continue eating. As I turn my sandwich around, I notice white fuzz all on the side. A bit in shock, I open the sandwich and it’s covered in MOLD! I take it to the gal at the front counter and she apologizes saying they’ll make me a fresh one. I continue with my salad, she brings me the same(wrong) sandwich along with a cookie to make up… For the mold… I am pretty disgusted with it and can’t bring myself to even look at it. I look at my salad as I take my next bite a bit closer, white fuzz on there TOO! I was so disgusted I couldn’t even think so I just ended up leaving with all my food and my co workers food unfinished and walked out. Too bad I had already paid the measly $ 26! I really need to find out how to make a better complaint than Unilocal.Health board maybe?

Another trip to Alviso, tried the taco salad and tuna on rye. Not too impressed with either. I got takeout. Both presentations had flaws for that. They placed the tomato on the bottom of the tray for the tuna on rye. I wasn’t able to eat it until a few hours later. The bottom of the bread got soggy. Unfortunately I hated the salad itself. WAY too sweet. What is it with the sugar? This one is off the list for me. For the taco salad, the tortilla strips got a little stale, again, I wasn’t able to eat it right away. The chipotle ranch was a little too spicy, even for me. The tomatoes weren’t cut in half, I counted six. I was also wishing for some black olives and some sort of onions. Not a complete deal breaker. I know how to cut the tomatoes and slice some onions and olives to throw in and dilute the dressing with some plain ranch, but when I get takeout I’m not thinking I want to do all that. I doubt I’ll get this again either. If I do, I’ll see if they can put the tortilla strips in some sort of plastic on the side. The greens were very fresh and no romaine or iceberg in site.

Very nice place for lunch with tasty sandwiches soups and salads. Had the half sandwich and soup and it was fantastic. They have both indoor and outdoor seating on a patio. Being in Alviso, it’s pretty isolated, but definitely a destination place for lunch. Good change up from the usual Mexican restaurants in te area

What a great place to escape from all the corporate air on North First Street. The 237 marker that cuts through N 1st street splits the area between night and day. Alviso is such a quaint neighborhood. The owner and workers seem very happy to work here. They were super chill. Their paypal system was down and they trusted me to just order first and pay later. Had the taco salad and it was really good. Quality ingredients and left happy knowing I had some good veggies for the day. Parking is plentiful, free wifi, clean and nice seeting — perfect for lunch or a study session!

Went to the first street place with panera, chipotle, all those chain restaurants. looked for parking for over 15 minutes and said forget it. Went down to Alviso, saw this place and a taco truck. Taco truck was packed so I went into Tony’s instead. Line was short so I was happy. I had no idea what I wanted. kinda wanted pastrami but they dont have it. Opted for egg salad and sweet potato fries instead. Waited about 10 minutes and got my food & headed back to the office. The sweet potato fries were good but soggy, I like my fries crispy so that was sad. The egg salad though. omg. SOGOOD. The bread was fluffy cloud-like amazingness. The egg salad itself was perfection. I will definitely be back. Great service, great food.

Lunch with Tony(LWT) is another stop in my continuing quest to find good food in the culinary wasteland that is known as Alviso. LWT was recommended by one of my cohorts friends and I’m not sure why I’ve never tried it before. For the longest time I thought LWT was a catering business only but they also serve up Lunch and Dinner. My first visit was very underwhelming but it wasn’t terrible. So I decided to give it another go. Here’s a breakdown: Alviso Burger– The Alviso Burger is a 1/3-lb patty that comes with cheese, tomatoes, and onions. You can add grilled onions or bacon for an additional cost, but I opted to keep it OG. I ordered it medium-rare but it came out more medium which is not preferred, but not a deal breaker. The burger as a whole was above-average and nothing special. I will give them bonus points for freshness, though. 3.5* Alviso Cheesesteak– The Alviso Cheesesteak comes with Beef(Duh!), melting provolone, sauteed peppers & onions in a roll; it also has an optional pesto mayo that I decided to try. Unfortunately this was a bit of a fail for me. The Steak was cut up into a million tiny pieces; the bread was too«bready»; and the provolone was not melted properly. I did like the pesto mayo and grilled veggies but not enough to save the sandwich. 2* Fries and Garlic Fries– Pretty standard fries that are fried to order. I can’t tell if they’re fresh or frozen but I’m leaning towards frozen. The Garlic Fries have fresh, unmellowed garlic on them but they weren’t as harsh as some other locations(see my review for Le Bön de Cuisine) They also have a nice selection of fancy dipping sauces(e.g., Pesto mayo, curry ketchup & Chipotle Ranch) I didn’t try any because they want to charge you a extra 75¢ and that’s just nonsense. I hate it when places nickel-&-dime you on every little thing. 2* Side Salad– Above-standard side salad that was pretty good and comes with a vinaigrette; I actually ordered it with Blue Cheese Dressing but, apparently, they don’t have Blue Cheese Dressing. So instead of telling me this he just charges me 50¢ and throws a handful of Blue Cheese crumbles on top. Whatever. 3* Angus Beef Chili– My comrade actually ordered this and he only ate about 1⁄3 and asked me of I wanted to have the rest. I obliged him, took a few spoonfuls and said, «I’m good». I’m not sure where Tony grew up, but that’s not Chili. I have entered(and won a few!) in my share of Chili contests so I know my Chili and that, good sir, is NOT Chili. It was more of a super-bland bean soup. 1* Ambiance & Service– I dig the the décor of LWT; it’s very open, clean and reminds me of being in someone’s home. They have a swell patio outside if you want to enjoy the lovely California weather. The service is minimal: you walk in; order at the front; take your number; find a seat; and then someone brings you your food. The soda is self-service which is how I prefer it. 4* I actually adhered to my arbitrary rule of visiting a place twice before reviewing. I really, really wanted to like this place because I’m starving for more places to eat in Alviso, but unfortunately I just can’t give this place a recommendation. So, if anyone asks you if you want to have Lunch with Tony I’d recommend you having lunch elsewhere.

Easily forgettable is how best to describe Lunch with Tony. From the food to the service everything was exactly as I described my meal to my friends, «eh just ok». With such a poor location there wasn’t much foot traffic and the spot is overshadowed by the taco del oro massive following. The layout was cozy, but you won’t be interested in dining in because it was freezing. To end just as I began… This place is already forgotten in my book.

WOW! What can I say, but come to «Lunch with Tony» and experience everything he has on the menu! I’ve had an opportunity to practically try everything on the menu, even his vegetarian sandwiches. FYI: I am not a vegetarian, but the«Grilled Veggie», Grilled eggplant, roasted red peppers & tomato with creamy herb spread & crisp lettuce on wheatberry bread. This item for me was such a healthy treat. Try it! OMG! The Turkey & Cranberry on Croissant light and filling, not overwhelming, but nice. The Tuna on Rye, light and delicious too! Cranberry Salad and the Asian Chicken Salad, whoa! Fantastic! For some years now I have been ordering food from Lunch with Tony’s for our monthly meetings and everyone has raved how much they enjoyed his HOT and COLD sandwiches and the salad too. When you read what is on his menu it is obvious that YOU are going to have a healthy meal, no doubt about it. And try the cookies too, YUMMY!!!

So this is why I give it a 2. The restaurant is clean, and the staff seems friendly enough. My co worker and I both purchased the Italian Meat Panini. It literally had one slice of deli meat per meat in the description pressed by the flattest focaccia bread I have ever seen. Now the sandwich was tasty but for 8 dollars plus tax I could of had a sandwich 10 times larger if I went to togo’s for the same price. I also ordered a half caesar salad because they said they made their own dressing. This also was the worst caesar I had had not out of a bottle in a long time. Needless to say both me and my co worker will never go here again. I also recommend to go anywhere else than here. If you are in Alviso go to Maria Lena’s or even the taco truck next door to this place, you will get more food for your money than Tony’s

A new place in Alviso! I’m happy to have this breakfast/lunch place close to work. It’s open M-F 7am-3pm. There about 4 parking spot in front, plenty in the back of the restaurant & street. Nice, roomy, & clean place. Can hold maybe 30 ppl inside. Plenty of tables & chairs to eat at. I got the ½ sandwich & ½ soup for $ 8 — I picked Beef & Muenster Press. It looked small, but it was full of tender beef and the cheese was melted into the bread & meat. I liked it. Soup I got was the Southwest Chowder — creamy soup w/lots of chunks of carrots, cream, I didn’t notice chicken. I liked it. P. got tuna on Rye $ 6 — it’s a huge sandwich if you get a whole one. It’s pretty tasty. Canned tuna, celery, tomato, lettuce. He also got the Curried Lentil & Spinach soup(Vegan) $ 3 for a cup. I thought it was very light. He liked it. There were samples of the cookies & a scone. I really liked the double chocolate cherry cookie $ 1.75 — P. bought some & it’s huge & nice. Lots of nuts, light cherry taste, very chocolaty. They take credit cards. Separate bathrooms. Women had 2 stalls &1 sink. Go check them out if you’re in the area. Website:

Damn the internet is a cool thing. It allowed me to follow the construction trials and tribulations of Tony’s buildout of his brand new endeavor. Then it let me know I to head down and see the fruits of his labor. Alviso doesn’t have much going on and it’s it good to see a new establishment breath some new culinary options. Packed with mostly friends and family I needed to get a meal in before my last meetings. ran into an old co-worker while I was there and we were both excited to see the new place in action. Soups, salads, sandwiches and a few desserts round out the spread. This isnt your typical deli however. Tony went to CCA up in SF and he’s added some gourmet twists to your lunch fare. Things we had: Beef & Muenster Press — shredded beef short ribs, stacked with muenster cheese & melted into sliced sourdough Southwest Chowder — roast chicken and creamy corn chowder Classic Caesar w/grilled chicken — romaine, zesty dressing, parmesan and herbed baguette croutons I think we were definitely enamored with the sandwich. The short ribs were super tender and tasty. Melted muenster cheese and a good buttery grilled bread definitely satisfied. I’d return if this was the only thing they made. Since it was crowded, our orders lagged behind a bit but Tony himself and the rest of the staff came out and gave us a fruit salad to bridge our time and then some baked brownies after the meal. After chatting with him a while it’s clear that he’s very customer service focused and cooking is what he loves to do. Good debut, and when they get the space and service in order it will be awesome. Looking forward to trying the other items and hopefully the menu gets spruced with specials and new items too. 4.5 stars
