To my knowledge, the best Chinese restaurant in the area. Food is excellent, service good and atmosphere very nice(much fancier than the typical Chinese restaurant). Wide choice.

I’ve been eating ‘Dynasty’ as long as I can remember. Overall, it is the best Chinese take-out and dine-in in the area. Recently the frequent customer has noticed a dip in the food quality and service. But, a new diner probably would likely walk away very satisfied. Over the past 2 years I’ve eaten Dynasty 15 – 20 times and have been slightly disappointed once, but all other times it has been great.

I am very picky when it comes to Chinese food. I find most Chinese restaurants aren’t great, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find the House of Dynasty a couple of weeks ago. The hot and sour soup was great. I also sampled the Triple Delight and Sweet and Sour Chicken, both of which were hot and tasty, with generous portions of meat. To yop it off, the service is fantastic. The hosyess and waitresses are very personable and friendly. I highly recommend House of Dynasty.

This place is awesome. They don’t offer delivery, but their carryout line is always buzzing… as is there restaurant. They have the best food of any Chinese restaurant in the area. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s the best. Complete hot towel treatment inside the restaurant and sorbet between course too I think. Friendly atmosphere… always busy, but pretty rare that you have to wait a long time before being seated. No need to make a reservation. Enjoy!

Really enjoyed the Chinese food here because 1. atmosphere is not your average Chinese restaurant but more of a sit down type with the nice décor 2. food isn’t too salty but actually fresh(actually takes a while for them to bring out) 3. service is good! they bring out sorbet for dessert & hot towels at the end I was impressed by the egg drop soup because it wasn’t too salty. The Hunan Style Bean Curd was perfection since I was craving Mapo style, soft tofu type of meal(savory, black bean sauce with garlic & veggies). Ask for extra spicy if you like your food spicy because at its original spiciness, it wasn’t spicy enough for me. My boyfriend got the Schezuan style soft shell crab which was the delicious complement to the tofu. it was tangy and sweeter(think a cross between orange chicken flavor with sweet & sour). it was crispy on the outside & soft oyster type consistency on the inside! yummmm

After reading the reviews on Unilocal saying how good this place was, I was excited trying this place out. I wanted to take my boyfriend out for a dinner and got to House of Dynasty around 6:45pm. There was already a lot of people waiting to be seated so I went in looking to talk to someone to take my name or get a number or something. 20 minutes go by and no one even greets us. The assistant manager who was seating people was asking new people who just walked in the door for their name to put on the list and she never asked for mine. REALLY?! I tried getting her attention but she would keep flying by not even looking at us. People were getting seated before us and we waited an hour until we finally got a table. No apology, nothing. The food was pretty good but I honestly don’t know if I was too upset to finish it all or really enjoy the food. The waitress was nice, but she was really rushing us. If we didn’t answer her in 2 seconds if we were ready or if we wanted boxes, she would answer for us and run off. The pu pu platter was pretty good, and the egg drop soup was pretty impressive! I really liked how the tea was free and they give you hot towels at the end. The lo mein was good but at that point I just wanted to go home. We got there at 6:45. We didn’t leave until 9:15. That’s a lot longer I’d like to be at a restaurant. I felt like I was more of a bother rather than feeling welcomed. The restaurant was clean, has a nice vibe to it. It’s a bit dark for a nice night out. The bathrooms are pretty clean. I really liked the food, but the service could’ve been so much better. For my first time being there and reading all the good review on Unilocal,I’m very disappointed. It will be quite some time before I come back here. Take my advice people: if you are dining in on a weekend MAKE A RESERVATION! If I’m getting food from here again, I’m just getting take out.

The best Chinese in the area. Everything is good here so you can never go wrong. Whether I order carry out or dine in, I am never disappointed. Their service is great also.

This place is amazing. It is 30 years old this year, and I have been going there for 26 of those years(I am 41). This was my go to date place in high school, and it is still my go to special occasion place for anything. Heck, I’m willing to drive from my house behind Andrews Air Force Base to get this food anytime. All of my high school friends still love this place. So, that should be a good indicator that you are in good hands and are in for a delicious treat! I originally had plans for 7 for another restaurant on Christmas Eve for myself, my husband, my three kids(ages 22, 14, and 13 — the last one is a picky eater), my stepson(also 22), and my dad(who, at 74 does not want presents but is on a tight budget so he never treats himself to going out to eat; hence, my Christmas gift to him is a dinner splurge). However, the morning of Christmas Eve my spouse was hellasick and wanted nothing to do with anything but theraflu. So, at the last minute I had to come up with an alternate plan since his son wanted to stay home and cook dinner for him(awwww — what a great kid — that’s why I love him!). As the weather was going to be rainy/foggy and my dad’s vision is bad at night I had to pick a place that wasn’t too far for him to drive but was still nice… so House of Dynasty it was. I tried calling for an hour to see if I could make a reservation but couldn’t get through. When I finally did they said that they were full for reservations. I told my dad we were just going to have to wing it and hope for the best. He went down early and when he got there at 5PM the line was out the door for walk-in’s. The person in front of him told him they’d been there for an hour and a half. I was returning from Baltimore and near Mike’s American Grill so I thought I’d check there — since I hadn’t called ahead, there would be a 2 hour and 45 minute wait approximately… GTFOH with that noise. By the time I called my dad back with that answer he said that things were moving much faster and he had put his name on the list and was inside the door so to come on down. We got there approximately 6PM, and waited maybe 15 minutes for a table of 5. Not too shabby! Once seated, we were promptly attended to by our waitress. Despite how crowded the place was(the carryout section had an hour wait for food), we got our food as if they were on a regular business day with no one really in the restaurant. Our meal order was as follows: Appetizers: — Egg Drop soup(the best around!) — Won Ton Soup — Crab Rangoon(which everyone loved including the picky one) — Teriyaki Beef Sticks(for the teenagers who’d never had it before — they LOVED it, even the picky one) — Steamed dumplings(they’re HUGE and everyone ate them which was a shock) Entrees: — Sweet and Sour Chicken for the 22 year old(demolished in no time) — General Tso’s Chicken for my dad(who wanted to eat it all but saved some) — Chicken with Snow Peas for me(it’s worked for 26 years and has never changed) — Beef with Broccoli for the 14 year old(who tore through his plate) — Sweet and Sour Chicken for the 13 year old(new to him but also demolished) Since the teens live with their dad who doesn’t take them to fancier places, they were confused when the sherbet came to cleanse the palate. This is a nice touch I have always enjoyed because you don’t expect it from such a budget friendly restaurant. They also offer steamed towels at the end of your meal, but did not do so on Christmas Eve(understandably so because I don’t think they could handle that laundry). Both teens said this was one of the best meals and experiences they ever had. It was a wonderful and special night for everyone. They continued to talk about it the entire time they were here. Needless to say, I will always be back until I am no longer on the face of this earth.

Not the cheapest Chinese place in northern Virginia but one of the best. They do Americanized Chinese but so so with high, high quality. Relaxing, oriental ambience in the restaurant but typically order takeout. Highly recommend they General Tso’s, which tends to be crispier and spicier than many restaurants in the area, got and sour soup, and the moo goo gai pan. You can order MSG free if that’s your thing and the quality of the food does not suffer. The only negative to report is the popularity of the place — if it’s a popular time such as a holiday like Christmas, order ahead because there WILL be a wait!

Best Chinese food in the Kingstowne and Springfield area. Food is delicious, attentive service in the restaurant and fast carry-out service. The hot mustard is fantastic! At lunch, there are inexpensive specials that are served quickly. They are a bit expensive for dinner, but the food is excellent and it’s worth it.

My family has been dining here for well over 20 years since we first moved to VA. And it is indeed the best place to get Chinese food! Their style/ambiance is a lot like Peking Gourmet, but the food is 10x better. Unlike Peking Gourmet, ALL of the food at Dynasty tastes amazing — not just the duck. My family’s been getting the following dishes for so long, the staff has our order down pat: Appetizers + Fried Meat Dumplings with fish sauce + Fried Wontons filled with crab, cheese, and served with sweet/sour sauce and spicy mustard Entrees + Shrimp Lo Mein + Orange Chicken/Beef + Scallops Hunan Style + Beef Hunan Style + Triple Delight(beef, chicken, and shrimp) And you can’t forget their oil-based hot sauce. For dinner, they serve sorbet/sherbet after the appetizer/before the meal as a palate cleanser. And you also get a hot steamed towel at the end of the meal. Chuck is the best waiter you’ll ever have, but the whole team there is always so pleasant and friendly. Definitely my first choice for Chinese, whether dining in or carrying out.

The food is always good here!!! Nicely flavored and good portions. The lunch combos come with more meat and veggies than rice which is good. Most Chinese restaurants fill your lunch combo up with a lot of time and no meat but not here. Also they have plastic to go containers which makes for easy transport and nice to repurpose for other meals at home.

We come here often for large family celebrations. The group menu is good for groups of 5 or more, you can order a number of dishes served family style and comes witih soup and ice cream for a reasonable price. The service is good and has always been attentive. The food is typical of other Chinese restaurants, but done well. No complaints here and will be back for more!

5 stars plus 5 more invisible ones. I was worried when the ownership changed hands. Usually this brings disastrous changes. NOPE. The new owners didn’t change a thing. Hell, they even hired back the previous owners to come work there. I’m giving you my Unilocal promise with the secret hand shake and high five. If you ever have a bad meal here, I’ll pay for it. Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Cleanliness: 5 stars Cost: 5 stars Being able to order Hunan from anywhere else: 0 stars… all others will suck the big spring roll. Bottom Line. Go here and high five General Tso.

If lunch, Chinese food, and lots of food are things you are interested in, try House of Dynasty. I go here for lunch on week days and must say this place stands out from the rest based on their quick service and food. Their lunch specials are great and it is the little things I like when comparing this to other lunch options in the area. First, they have a variety of soups that comes with the lunch menu and they are all great. Plus they come with those fried crackers which is really cool. Second, I always give bonus points when you get water or tea and the servers leave the pitcher or kettle on the table. It is annoying to be thirsty and waving my hand in the air because I’m about to choke. Third, let’s be honest here. It is Chinese food guys. It’s pretty hard to mess this up or surprise you unless you are hardcore and going to a «Chinese» Chinese restaurant. You can see what the typical lunch entrée looks like in my picture below. Chicken & Broccoli & Egg roll = party in the mouth! Fourth, the bill. Let’s just say I’m Bob Barker when I visit here and the price is right — even when I ask for extra chicken.

Yum! The hubs and I came to check out House of Dynasty for dinner. Located in the Hayfield Plaza Shopping Center, this restaurant has been around since ’85, serving up a variety of Chinese fare such as Hunan style whole fish, Szechuan Style soft-shell crabs, seafood/chicken/beef/chicken/pork options, rice, noodles, soups, and other appetizers. Right when we sat down, our drinks and a pot of hot tea were served. We tried the Pu Pu Platter(serves 2, and it came with BBQ spareribs, spring rolls, teriyaki on sticks, fried wontons, chicken wings, and shrimp tempura; I actually thought the BBQ spareribs were tasty — they had a bbq/sweet/sticky consistency, but the meat was tender(the hubs wasn’t much of a fan of them); the spring rolls were forgettable(contained tons of cabbage); the beef teriyaki on sticks that can be placed on an open flame were delicious; the fried wontons, which supposedly is the restaurant’s house special, were also forgettable; the chicken wings were of generous size and crispy, but had a slight off taste to them; the shrimp tempura were molded to be round, so it kind of looked like calamari; hot mustard and a sweet sauce(that tasted like apples) came with); Dan Dan Mein noodles(this was a cold noodle dish that was made with peanut butter and sesame sauce; the hubs enjoyed this more than I did, as it had a watery consistency, and I just wished there was more of a peanut-y taste to it); the hubs had the Hot & Sour Soup(made with spicy chicken broth and filled with bean curd, mushrooms, mushroom, bamboo shoots, and a cup of fried wontons; he said that it was just okay); chicken fried rice(this was actually pretty yummy! Definitely not the typical greasy rice, but it was filled generously with vegetables and strips of chicken; I probably would opt for the veggie fried rice next time and request extra peas: D; Shrimp with String Beans Szechuan Style(while the shrimp was extremely large, they had a water tank taste to them and did not taste fresh; it was sad, as the chili sauce on them was actually tasty; the string beans were plentiful and cooked all the way through, and had a light coating of the sauce(I just wished the sauce was a little thicker to have more coating on them); I’ll definitely just get the string beans only next time!; and, Crispy Beef(definitely not a Crispy Beef I’ve tasted before; this was not overly sweet, which I really liked, and it had an ever-so-slightly kick to it; this was really tasty and crispy). I loved that we even had a mini scoop of sherbet in an egg cup as a palate cleanser, and the fact that we had multiple hot hand towels to wipe our hands after the appetizer and at the end of the meal! We had some leftovers, and they actually held up well and were quite tasty the next day: D Our servers were Mr. Roger and Mr. Chuck, both who were very efficient, professional, and so much fun!!! :D I’d love to come back and try out their other dishes; I can see why this has been a local favorite for all these years! +beef teriyaki on sticks(over an open flame) +chicken fried rice +String Beans Szechuan Style +Crispy Beef +BBQ spareribs +ask for Mr. Roger and Mr. Chuck: D +friendly service: D +hot hand towels: D +rainbow sherbet as a palate cleanser: D +located inside the Hayfield Plaza Shopping Center +to the right of KoChix

This is a fantastic chinese food spot. Both dinner and lunch are ultra-viable options for HoD. The pace with which they get you through lunch, despite a heavy crowd, is incredible. I’m never seen a DC area restaurant provide the courteous service I received here while attempting to handle such a rush. Kudos. The food here is traditional Chinese food; everything i’ve tried is excellent, and they clearly use the higher end ingredients as the veggies are crisp and meat is expertly prepared. If you’ve had chinese food anywhere else, then the type of food should come as no surprise; the quality, however, will impress. A+.

I was just here recently after having not been in a while. I used to love it, but it didn’t taste like I remember. It could just be me because it was still really good and my friend still says it tastes just as good. There are no surprises. They are a pretty typical American Chinese restaurant. Though I do love their hot tea better than most. I usually get the Broccoli in Garlic Sauce and add chicken. The spring rolls are huge so I only get the one. But they are good. Staff is friendly and the locations has a lot of parking.

So happy to have a really tasty Chinese restaurant near both work and home. Probably the best discovery since moving into my new work location — and pretty much our go-to spot when having some type of office celebration. They have a fantastic deal at lunch. For between $ 8 – 11 you get soup, spring roll, rice(white, brown, or fried) and main dish. Along with the hot tea that comes to the table with your food, its the perfect portion of everything for lunch. On the menu your choices for soup are hot and sour or corn, but they’ll usually let you substitute Egg Drop which is what I do. Likewise, you can substitute any main dish for one of the lunch special mains for a small fee. I have 2 favorite main courses here: the Shrimp Hunan Style(I get it without the broccoli, they usually put in extra mushrooms :-) YAY) and the String Beans Szechuan Style, probably one of the only times I’ll choose a vegetarian dish over all other options. Both dishes are fantastic and one makes an excellent side dish for the other if you order both and then share, ummm or take home the leftovers for a second meal. Everything delicious and very affordable, both on the lunch menu and the dinner.
