My boyfriend and I stopped here while passing through the town. It is extremely small, but quaint and cute. We were one of 2 tables on our tiny side of the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and came up to us right away; the coffee was very good and she refilled that just in time every time. We both ordered eggs, hash browns, meat, and toast. The eggs were great, the hash browns were perfectly crunchy, my bacon was great, and the toast was great. We got the breakfasts and coffees for 15 bucks, which is a deal in my opinion. The only complaint I have is that the bathroom was not heated and literally freezing! Other than that, I would definitely return if ever passing through Alden again.

Stopped in to order breakfast while up for the weekend too take our docks out and see the fall colors. The Northerner Omelets were awesome and our daughter loved her pancakes and biscuits and gravy! Had to order carry out this time and our food was ready super fast. We always make the Wild Onion our go-to place for breakfast while up here.

Stopped in this morning for brunch. The Barnyard is the bomb. Perfect combination of flavors for the no man’s land between breakfast and lunch where you can’t decide which to have. My daughter ordered a Deluxe Burger which got a two thumbs up! Pancakes and French Toast were also tasty. Despite being new, our server Aubrey was great. She checked on us when needed and was super friendly.

This restaurant is your typical mama’s home style kitchen restaurant. But then it’s not. We were attended to immediately when we walked in the door and seated right away. Our waiter took our order relatively slowly but as there are many options on their menu I can understand why. When our food came to the table it was all nice and hot(there were 6 of us). I had the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and it was phenomenal! The pork was tender and juicy and the sauce paired perfectly with it. It came with fries and the fries were perfectly crispy and crunchy! I will definitely stop by again when we are next in Alden!

Although the food here was adequate, the service was below average. The waitresses were inexperienced, and not personable. Also, when we showed them the 10% off discount that popped up here when we checked in they called the owner out to check it. He was extremely rude about it and blew it off and walked back in the kitchen so note to disregard that offer. Lastly, the atmosphere is below average. For sure could use some TLC. We were pretty disappointed with this experience.

Poor customer service. Will not honor the 10% off coupon on Unilocal as the owner said he doesn’t know how it got on here, and was very curt about it. Décor is 1980’s vintage, food is average, nothing to write home about. Waitresses like to ask customers questions from across the restaurant. Lastly, who runs out of the soup of the day at 1 pm?

I’m writing this review as I sit here inside The Wild onion Restaurant. The number one rule of having a good business establishment is having respect for your customers and treating them with kindness and courtesy. This is something that was lacking today during our visit. All was going decently well until we went to pay our bill at the register. Unilocal had a 10% off meal coupon posted, so we showed the lady at the register. She quickly became puzzled and called up the manager/owner to the front. He looked at his page on Unilocal, and said he knew nothing about the discount and rudely just responded, «I’m not accepting that,» and walked back into the kitchen. The discount didn’t matter as the food was super cheap, but the demeanor of the staff here was very rude and unprofessional. It would have made a huge difference if they took the time to help us understand why their page said there was a discount available. A simple friendly response or apology for the confusion would have made all the difference in the world. We simply won’t return here next time we are visiting Alden.

It’s been a long time since we’ve been here. From what I remember the food was just ok and the people in the kitchen were always coming out to the dining room to see how many people were left so they could hurry up and leave for the night. They would look on everyone’s tables to see if they were almost done or not… not real welcoming. I’ve been to this place 4 times the past year an a half and we never even made it through the door. One time in the middle of summer, it was 2 pm and we came here but the door was locked, the sign said they closed at 3… an hour early?! It happened again a few weeks after that. We didn’t come back for a long time. Finally today we were there at 1:30, open sign on and flashing and what do ya know? Door was locked. That was my last straw, no more second chances. I guess you have to get here really early because they do not want to serve you after a certain time. If they really don’t want business that bad then i won’t give it to them.

We liked the food here but the place is in desperate need of a visit by Gordon Ramsey for a serious restaurant makeover. Our server was great and tried her best but she was young and inexperienced. We came for lunch and the food was good. Burgers, chicken tenders and the like. Will probably try it again someday only if it’s convenient but I’m in no hurry.

Some days, I want a big fancy benedict with crabcakes, velvety hollandaise and some saucy poached eggs. Other days, I’m perfectly happy with a giant bucket of scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. If you are seeking out the latter in Alden, look no further than the Wild Onion. They have a breakfast buffet for around $ 7.99, and it’s filled with all your breakfast basics: Eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, biscuits, fruit, pastries, etc. Coffee was decent and the waitress gave us some advice on where to spend the rest of our day. Decent joint.
