Great ice cream great service. The quality of ice cream is very good with high butter fat content and lots of different interesting flavors. They give you a lot of ice cream for the money. I had sleeping bear Sandune’s chocolate and triple peanut butter. I highly suggest you walk into this General store into the back and grab yourself some ice cream. Guaranteed to make all children very happy and adults like me!

Went a year ago and wasn’t too impressed. This year I got the seaside caramel(or something like that) and it was crazy good knocked my socks off. 10 or so flavored but I would never stray. Butterfinger cone was awesome too.

The best ice cream in the area, Higgins Store is open typically till 9pm during the week, and you cannot beat the ice cream and the value! Go there any time, expect to wait a few minutes in line, but it’s fantastic!

Been going to Higgins since the late 70’s and my kids have great memories of getting ice cream from the rear of this wonderful store that is a throwback to the days when there was a neighborhood store that carried darn near anything and did it with a smile. Complete with the hardwood floors from the early 1900’s. Take a trip back in time, meet some nice folk and see what a real ice cream cone looks like.

A classic small-town general store, in rare form. Higgin’s Store was the busiest spot in town the night we happened through Alden — it was a warm one and ice cream was a popular treat… Cash only, so come prepared — but it’s worth your while. Flavored waffle cones and quality ice cream make for a wonderful way to finish a warm summer evening.

Higgins store has been in Alden since 1892, which red and white sign over the entrance proudly reminds you. You can get basic convenience items, rent movies, and buy hand scooped ice cream seasonally. In the summertime, you will see people sitting on the benches outside devouring ice cream cones. They sell alcohol, if you need to stock up for the beach or boating.
