I have always had positive experiences when I visit Sushi King. This visit happened to save the day for me this past weekend for Valentine’s Day. All throughout the city, it seemed like every single restaurant was bursting at the seams with hungry lovers looking to stuff their bellies. I was actually headed home after nearly giving up my search when I seen no cars in the parking lot and the open sign glaring in the night. What more could a guy ask for? We were treated to an empty restaurant which made things seem a bit more romantic. The service was great and the food came out really quick. We had the miso soup for an appetizer and both had a combo D for the main course. Just an advance warning: the combo D is HUGE. I have a big appetite and this plate owned me. The only slight complaint that I have is that the food is a bit pricey, but hey, it’s sushi and sushi is always a bit pricey. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at this sushi king location and will definitely be back in the future. Long live the KIng!

We have become regulars at this location because of the warm service and consistently great sushi. I recommend the crab salad and salmon lover roll.

Favorite Sushi place I’ve tried in Abq. Miso soup is always perfect. Monkey balls are a must try appetizer, it’s SO good!

This was one of those time I wish there was a half a star because I’d definitely give 2.5 as my visit was really sort of «meh». Granted, this was my first time here so I’m hoping this was just one of those things that will get better if I go more often or at another time. I joined a group of friends for an early dinner and were sat fairly quickly, but we sat for a little while before we could get our order in noticing several empty tables. One of my very favorite sushi rolls here is the NM Green Chile roll… well, they were out. The other rolls were alright but not great and they fell apart easily and were a little large to fit a whole piece in the kisser. The edamame was good and the drinks were good, we just waited a bit for refills, for the check and for the check out. Not too bad though, I’ll be back and maybe things will turn out better.

I was actually very very happy with my last visit. The service was good and the sushi was bombDOTcom! In the past, I haven’t really been impressed, but the 4 of us each ordered a roll and we were very happy with 3 of them. I’ll definitely go back and order the Lady in Red again! Yum!

Best little sushi spot in the heights! Forget the other popular places, there are some real artists working here. :)

Came here with my fiancé and grandma a couple weeks ago. My grandma’s never had sushi, and this has been one of our favorites for a long time. Unfortunately, my grandma was more pleased with the fried oyster appetizer than she was with the rest of the meal, but she was extremely pleased with those oysters.(: we ordered the lady in red, the crunchy salmon roll, and the avocado roll. I’m honestly disappointed because I feel like we’ve had much better quality ingredients in our sushi before, and this time was very disappointing. It was extremely difficult for me to enjoy my meal because the quality of the food was just not what we’re used to from Sushi King. We’ll keep trying because I have a soft spot for this place as it’s the spot where I had my first date with my fiancé, but I am disappointed.

Tuna seemed a bit off– left a pink fluid on the plate. Philly roll we had tempura and that was pretty good. All in all it seems that they are consistently low quality

The food was ok. The service was friendly and the environment was nice and quiet. For as much as sushi is, I would’ve expected better quality and fresher ingredients.

I eat here often. This is a very good place to eat and a great value. Jennifer is a great waitress & «T» is the head sushi chef & Money is the owner. They are very hard workers and will go out of their way to make sure everything is to your liking.

Beautiful restaurant with nobody in it. Makes you wonder. But we figured it out pretty quickly. We ordered 3 rolls. They were beautiful but something tasted dirty. One roll tasted like a dirty rag, the Salmon smelled like a dirty girl. It only took a few minutes and a few bites for us all to lose our appetites. Don’t Waste your money. Go somewhere else.

Great service, great food. A friend recommended Sushi King and I was not disappointed. All of the sushi portions were very generous. Our waitress was very attentive the entire time we were there. I will definitely return.

Good sushi and really good miso soup. Definitely recommend the caterpillar roll but the crunchy roll and philly roll were good also. Tried the New Mexico roll last and it was awesome!!! Not too spicy either. Went on a Saturday midday and the service was quick.

Not bad… I like their combo deals for sushi rolls and nigiri. Although, I will admit I do like their rolls better than the nigiri. Its not easy to find great or even good nigiri/sashimi in ABQ. I hit up Sushi King if I’m craving tempura rolls, cali rolls, etc. I would go elsewhere for sashimi. Close to home and friendly to the pocket book.

The reviews on this place were a little inconsistent so we were hesitant to try this place but it’s a great sushi place. The staff was extremely nice & friendly, the restaurant itself is clean & doesn’t smell like fish(as noted by someone else ‘s post). The sushi rolls are very good and you can’t beat the prices. Recommend the crunchy roll, crazy roll, and the arigato roll.

I love sushi and usually have it two to three times a month. This sushi was NOTGOOD. The fish was not only warm, but smelled and tasted disgusting. The service was poor. I was offered a free meal as compensation for the terrible experience, but even so, I will NOT be back.

This is by my house, and I love sushi, so I thought I’d give it a go. It’s that adventurous spirit that makes Unilocal so important. I’m willing to take one for the team, and at Sushi King, I got beaned by one high and inside. The sushi was just OK. Not that fresh. To their credit, they did have a lot of different rolls in different combinations. I’ll give them that. Let me tell you what not to order: the Dynamite lunch/dinner special. It’s listed on the menu as: «Chopped Fish, Scallops, Shrimp and Vegetables baked with Spicy Mayo, Smelt Eggs and Green Onions.» While it may indeed have all these ingredients, I couldn’t get past the utter fishy-ness of the smell to really dive into it. I had seen a half eaten dish on a table when we walked in and I wondered why someone would do that. Now I know, because it was the Dynamite. Dyna-don’t order this. Service was pitiful, given that it was 7PM and there were three other tables. Also, it took forever for them to produce the rolls we ordered. The saving grace is that I didn’t get sick. This place kind of lives up to all the worst stereotypes of an inland sushi joint; I won’t be coming back here any time soon.

Sign of a good sushi place: it doesn’t smell like fish when you walk in. When we went, it smelled. But we gave it the good olé college try. and. it was ok. probably won’t go back though. I had the crunchy shrimp roll, we ordered a side of chicken fried rice, and my husband had a variety of sashimi.

Fish was stinky. Waitress spilled cold water on me and it was freezing inside. A little expensive for sushi, poor selection of japanese beers and saki. The rolls fell apart easily, I was just really not impressed. It felt kind of like a cafeteria. We were the only ones there. I wouldn’t go again.
