Prices are very reasonable. The service was very good. Our cook was friendly, funny, and kept us entertained. The food was also very good and cooked how we wanted it.

«I feel like, in movies, this is one of those places where nobody knows what’s really going on. Everybody’s confused. Know what I mean?» My friend said this as he sat down for his birthday meal and his first experience with Teppan. I believe this was my third such experience(the other two at Burque’s longtime standard, Japanese Kitchen), and it delivered the goods. The ninja on the grill was definitely talented, he was kind of jovial and he kept the kids more or less enthralled, dude knew how to juggle a raw egg. I’ve said this about sushi joints and I’ll add Teppan to the list: the Japanese know how to streamline a dining experience. Sushi is so server-friendly, just collect the sheet of paper, get some drink orders and you’re golden. Same basically goes for this ordeal, where you order your protein and relax. They have a sizable menu, we ordered a few sushi rolls and split the tuna steak from the grill. Solid warning, reader: a plate of meat, rice and veggies around here absolutely feeds two, we’re talking supersized American portioning, so you and your date will likely be totally set with some sushi and a split. My remarks on the food: just fine. Not remarkable, really salty fried rice, and sushi that caters to sweet palates. Nothing was disappointing, including the service. Keep in mind that this place started in Lubbock before adding our location. I need not diss on Texans yet again, but I’d call this stuff… tastebud neutral. If you’re looking for the ol’ fire an’ brimstone performance on a plate, this place’ll do ya, and in case you were wondering, they keep the birthday song on the downlow. Very smart choice. (An aside. The website for these guys is pretty funtacular. I’m a big fan of «Engrish», garbled translation of any kind. The site is devoted to health, currently men’s health, specifically sperm health. Really. Here’s an excerpt. You can find more at ) «There are many kinds of infertility cause that could make a partner could not get pregnancy. There could be infertility on the male partner, or on the female partner or even to both of them. In 20 percent of the cases the infertility is on the male partner, while 30 percent of the cases stated that the infertility is on both partner, and only 15 percent that both partner does not have any problem at all even when they could not get pregnancy. When we see those study, we could get that men infertility plays for 50 percent roles as the cause of partner who could not get pregnancy.»

First time at this one and I think this was one of the best I’ve been to! We were seated right away and got drink orders taken quickly. Prices were good, great attentive service, entertaining chef, comfortable dining area. Little koi pond and glass waterfall were a nice touch too. Gotta try sushi next time… They give you a ton of food! I’d say it’s a super deal especially with 10% off coupon off their website. My mini-me enjoyed all the traditional«acts» like volcanoes and egg tricks. Great place for family outing The hard working chef said that thanksgiving is the only day they are closed. He even works Christmas Eve/day. This one is a winner!

I don’t really expect for this place to be extravagant. I came here for lunch, ordered the lunch special of 3 rolls. Now mind you I didn’t get it for the cheap price, but to have a taste of something simple and basic. Amongst all the Chinese chatter between the staffs here lays a bucket of really hard rice(barely any vinegar added if any at all, giving them the benefit of the doubt here) as well as extremely soggy seaweed. As I chewed be pieces, the seaweed dragged my teeth and I really usually don’t have this problem in US or Japan. The clear soup is extremely flavorful, packed with bonito fish powder and clearly not enough water, it’s difficult not to acknowledge the MSG. So what about the fish? It’s dry, hard, unflavored, and probably has been in the freezer for quite a while. If you absolutely must have Asian food and don’t care what the quality is, then this place is for you.

We dig Japanese grills. This one was pretty entertaining… the chef actually had some NEW material to entertain us, even though I almost wore an egg and an onion. lol The food was better than average and the only thing we were USED to having that they didn’t…some dipping sauces for the meats and seafood. And the soup isn’t miso, just a beef broth with a few slices of mushrooms tossed in. So those are my only two wish list items. But drinks were good(mango margarita was pretty dang excellent), food was great quality(we had steak, chicken, scallops and shrimp) for a decent price. Definitely up there with Japanese Kitchen.

Hayashi Japanese Steakhouse — Albuquerque, NM. — This is the second time I have been to this restaurant, and I have to say, it does not disappoint. The food is pretty good, of course cooked to order if you’re at the grill. It’s a little expensive, but you get quite a bit of food. My husband and I shared tempura this second go around, and it was excellent. We also both had steak, and they were really well done. The main reason I am giving this a lower score than a four is because the wait staff was a little underwhelming, and the lights were annoying… it was so bright in there for being dinner time. Our chef was amazing though, and he made the night incredibly enjoyable on his performance alone! Overall, I’ve had much better Japanese style grills… like Japanese Kitchen. We didn’t pick to come here either time, and it likely would never be our first choice, but it’s not terrible.

Hopefully, batch of fish used by chef was abnormally. One word that described last night’s sushies were«thick» fish were around half inch thick and rice was dry and way too much portion for size. Quality of fish was below par. Even simple salmon and tuna had no flavor. I chewed tuna and salmon by itself without rice, but couldn’t taste anything. No oily flavor you get from chewing salmon for long time. But when I thought about quantity they served against the price($ 20.00) it is reasonable to assume low quality fish. I’ll go for $ 15.00 teriyaki bento, but not for sushi or sashimi at this restaurant.

Good service. Too expensive for not so spectacular Japanese food. With the same amount of bucks, you can get better Japanese food in California. But, hey, you get you see a mini cooking show with flame on top of your food. Will come back if my family want but I probably won’t suggest it.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Albuquerque! The chicken katsu is my favorite meal and the sushi is always fresh and flavorful. I especially enjoy the happy hour specials. The service is usually good. I’ve only sat in the dine in section. My next time I’ll try the hibachi bar. This place is absolutely wonderful.

The Tappan grill was wonderful. We had two picky kids and the chef was very accommodating. The food was very delicious. We had tempura(which the kids loved). Sushi was good. And the food off the grill was very good! So fat this is my favorite Tappan grill in Albuquerque.

We had the Hibachi. Our group was big enough that we took up the whole table. The food was incredibly delicious even next days left overs were so good. We happened upon this place only because the other restaurant we intended to go to was closed. My kids loved it. They keep asking to go back. It’s kinda pricy for kids but they do give you a lot of food for them. So if you figure you are buying their dinner and lunch the next day, it isn’t so bad.

Food was great and the portions are good for the price. Kid’s chicken hibachi was only $ 7 and was a full sized meal. The service by the hibachi chef was awesome. He even put on extra fire shows for my son. My only complaint is that the wait staff could have been a little more attentive. To me, empty dishes should be cleared quickly and drink glasses should be quickly refilled. All in all, a good experience and we will eat here again.

The chefs personality and the quality of food is the only reason I didn’t go lower. I hate ordinary posing as upscale. They need to take a note from other hibachi locations and consider who they are seating people with like immedatley. Across the restaurant I saw nice dressed couples on dates, like us, each looking painfully displeased, as they sat with thier own set of loud drunken groups, or parties with more children the adults flicking rice around with thier chopsticks, standing in chairs. Etc. It wouldn’t have killed them to sit the couples together in a corner. We were a side note, had to ask for water and our edamame over and over as the«family» ordered sake bombs by the rounds, moving children from lap to lap. Who’s driving those kids home? I don’t know. Shouldn’t be my problem at dinner. It’s a shame the food was good, the chef fantastic. Atmosphere… ZERO. This isn’t an upscale date location. It’s a zoo.

Not impressed at all after tonight’s dinner. The egg rolls were tiny and weren’t that good. The soft shell crab wasn’t cooked properly and wasn’t able to tell it was a soft shell crab at all cause it was over cooked. Sushi was ok, just like California rolls, fish wasn’t fresh. Only that saved this place was the ambiance and fried rice. I was impressed by the fried rice. Service sucked, waitress got 2 out of 3 orders wrong. Never bother to ask whether or not we needed to order more. Will I come back? Probably not.

Awesome experience. The chef was very engaging and entertaining. Overall atmosphere was comfortable. They have a fish pond on the inside and they let our little one feed the fish. So nice. Oh the food? Yum. Everything worked together well.
