I feel like this place is really nothing to write home about, but it’s still pretty good. I can only think of the things I like and don’t like in a pros and cons list. Pros — Great atmosphere! The décor is stellar and the lighting is ideal. You can see your friends but it doesn’t feel like you’re in a cave or in a mall. — Good selection of beers, ciders, etc. — Peanuts. Everywhere. — Darts for fun! — Birthday boot of beer! Cons — The tables are picnic style tables which can get really troublesome if you’re with just two people or 8. It’s a tight squeeze or a jerk move if you have too many or too little people. The bar is always packed with couples and singles because they don’t have a place to sit. — It always seems a little low staffed. I’ve gone there a large handful of times and there’s never been more than 2 bartenders without a bar back. It seemed a little rough on the staff but they managed.

Why haven’t we been here. We moved to the Capitol region about 3 weeks ago! Someone employed at the Marriott recommended this place for good eats and excellent German beers. I am so glad we decided to come for s double date. I had a Pilsner and my husband had the IPA. Free hot dog with the purchase of a liter. We had the chicken schnitzel, get that and that’s enough food for 2. Not sure how the pork would be but I’d be willing to try the veal next time. I loved their pretzels salted to perfection and the beer cheese was a tasty delight with the right amount of kick. Fried pretzels were good, too oily for my liking and I prefer chips over the spears. Chicken schnitzel plus a liter of beer makes for a rest weekday or weekend treat! We can’t wait to come back and try more beer. All beers are reasonably priced 4 – 8 bucks unless you get a liter and those are $ 11 – 14 for a liter. Awesome place and definitely worth your money.

Many German beers on tap. Briergarten attracts a «different“crowd(I mean that in the worst way possible). I don’t know if it’s the fact that they serve larger pints of beer, everytime I go there multiple people are falling down drunk. Not to mention they allow small children to sit at the bar and watch their parents drink. I can think of a more appropriate place for a child to be at 8pm on a Friday night. It’s also an only ok place to eat. I’m from this area and it’s by no means my favorite place to get a beer or eat. But perhaps you’ll enjoy the slippery floors from people throwing their peanut shells all over place or the nerds with fake soccer jerseys on. Enjoy!!!

Stopped in for brunch this weekend and had yet another amazing meal. I created my own breakfast by ordering a bunch of sides — scrambled eggs, bacon, potato pancakes, and the gurkensalat. Their scrambled eggs, it should be noted, are extraordinary. They are not just any eggs — they are cheesy, seasoned to perfection, and topped with chives, and for $ 3 they are an absolute steal. All of that, along with my husband’s stack of pancakes(which came with the choice of coffee/tea/or orange juice), cost $ 23. It was quite a feast, and an affordable one at that. I got myself a Nine Pin and I was ready to tuck in. The place was decked out for the holidays, too, so it was an even more lovely place to eat and watch some football with friends! Love it here!

I love everything about this place! Great German food, awesome ambiance, and the employees are extremely nice. The schnitzelwich(schnitzel sandwich), reuben, fried pickles, and fries are all absolutely delicious. There is a large selection of beers to choose from and a bar tender that is more than willing to help you find the perfect one. Fun to come here for birthdays to get the daas boot($ 40 deposit that you get back if you don’t break the boot and they also prefer you order food and drinks). There are very large tables to sit at and the actual bar has plenty of seating. Darts in the back and another game I’m not sure what it’s called. The interior is decorated super nicely right now for Christmas time.

This place was so good that I spent my two nights in Albany here drinking the beer and sampling all of their wursts. The place is a bit smaller than I had expected, but it looks like it was built in an old fire house — pretty cool. The meal portions are very big, so come hungry or find a friend to share. I had the wurst sampler(4 different types) with French fries one night and bacon panel mac and cheese the next. I ate both until I saw the entire dish. The food did take a bit to come to the table so keep that in mind. Tons of beer on tap in .3 L,.5 L and 1.0 L sizes. I didn’t see flights as an option which would have been awesome . The first night I was there my friend told the bartender it was my first Wolff’s experience and asked if I could have a sample of the beer she was trying. He returned with a bunch of samples and asked me what I thought of each before choosing a delicious wheat option for me. I thought it was very nice and showed he wanted his customers to be happy. They also have games like shuffleboard and darts, and they always have a soccer game on in the background. 3 birthday parties happened while I was there and they allowed balloons and small decorative items(some places won’t let you do that). I will certainly be back next time I’m in Albany! *Credit cards are not accepted :(

Chugging Spaten Optimator and peacocking restrained rowdiness is the name of the game here. A cash only money factory for the owner. If you’re the type who requires an excuse to get your kicks, look no further than this place’s atmosphere and a boot of beer. The Schenectady location seems less crowded and less loud.

I had a beer & the wurst sampler plate, basically three grilled sausages, with some sides. Quite substantial sausages. I liked it, but after this plate I haven’t wanted Wurst for quite a while. Good value for the price.

$ 20 to get into Oktoberfest? Seriously? Stopped by to see whether it was worth going in — and on the short walk over — was greeted by quite a few obnoxiously drunk people. Getting to the entry point — could see that by 5PM, everything had descended into the atmosphere of every bar you hate. When we realized it was $ 20 to get in — and for that price, you only got a cheap plastic beer stein — we went elsewhere. If you’re outside of the: A) Bro demographic B) Obnoxious 30s person who still tries to be cool category. You’re better off spending your money at a good bar, serving good beer, with good company. Their Oktoberfest could be awesome if they focused on the atmosphere. But why do that when thousands of culture-less morons are willing to pay $ 20 for the privilege of buying your overpriced drinks and food?

Super relaxed vibe. Good selection of lagers, pilsners, wheat biers and dopplebocks. If beer isn’t for you, cider and wine is available. There are five large tv’s here, so It’s a great bar to watch sports especially soccer. The food is solid. I would recommended the fries, spaetzle and the brats. Notes: –Bad peanut allergy– maybe you should stay away. There are peanut shells decorating the tables and floors. –Credit cards? — No, it’s cash only. There is an ATM located in the back. –Like Darts?- There are four darts boards to play with friends. –Party time?-On your birthday, get the boot and have a DD with you!

Loud and fun excitement of a German beer garden in Albany! Been wanting to try this place after reading the Unilocal reviews. Wednesday night at 10pm was about half full and almost felt like the crowd and partying was just starting, with a layer of peanut shells covering the floor. Had the veal and chicken schnitzel and a side of Brussels sprouts, all excellent. Great selection of draft on tap and bottled beers, local and from around the world. Dart boards in the back of the beer garden, TVs with baseball and soccer, literal buckets of roasted plants in the tables, or is this our German sports bar? Cash only but there is an ATM on the premises. Food and Bar are self service and cash only. Come prepared for a casual rocking German style beer garden. Would give this a 5th star is they took credit cards and had table service. Easy street parking, but it was crowded even at 10pm on a Wednesday.

What a little summer oasis on such a hot summer night. Went with another couple on what felt like the hottest day of the year. We were a little apprehensive about it since it was indoor/outdoor and no AC, but with the ceiling fans blowing it was more than comfortable. I gave this place 5 stars because I love the relaxed atmosphere, very laid back. Eat your peanuts, throw the shells on the floor-literally. But the glam it up with beautiful lighting fixtures, warm woods, TVs with world arm wrestling championships playing in the background, dart boards, and large tables perfect for groups of your closest friends. Food is definitely worth mentioning. Schnitzelwich was a little slice of sandwich heaven. Crunchy, flavorful, major winner. Fried pickles, absolutely a must if you like pickles. The fries were phenomenal, greasy but crispy and crunchy. The bacon and Brussels sprouts were actually quite good, though a little salty but cooked perfectly. The only miss was the loaded pig which I would skip. Cheese tasted fake, onion topping was salty, bread was unimpressive. Service is minimal here. You go to the food counter to order food and the bar to order drinks. They’ll bring the food to your table. All in all a great experience. I’ll be back for more fried food in the near future.

I liked almost every aspect of this restored firehouse, German beer hall with family style picnic table seating. Peanut shells scattered throughout the flooring invites those who enjoy eating peanuts to eat them, swipe em off the table, and let them fall onto the floor. So don’t wear your favorite shoes! Each table has a large bin of peanuts to share while waiting for food. The line had formed around the cash register while the 8 of us were studying the menu. We were told that they only accept cash and there is an ATM towards the back. Good thing for us. we appreciated being able to pay for our orders separately and were told the food would be delivered right to our table when ready. It’s opposite side was the bar that boasts itself with German beers and a few ciders. The bartender was nice enough to let me sample some beers before I took my final pick. In the surrounding you will note a ping pong table, shuffleboard, and some dartboards with real darts. Best thing about it is that they don’t charge… they only require keeping an ID/license at the bar until you return the borrowed item. Our group shared many of the items we ordered including potato pancakes(served with side of sour cream and applesauce), red cabbage, sauerkraut, wursts(with a side of mustard), schnitzels, salad, fries(very well seasoned!), and wings… we had a pretty good spread I’d say. I did not meet anything I didn’t like in our spread. Considering this is more of a pub than an actual beer garden the food was very good! So if you like a casual and fun time with a few and don’t mind trying German style food this place will not leave you unsatisfied. Our group all agreed we had a great time! I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu and the brunch as well.

So much to love here! Really good beer. Great selection. Friendly staff. Awesome events. Great breakfast menu!!! So nice having a fun friendly place to get great German food and I love it day and night. Daytime probably more as I don’t love how busy it can get super late night. Breakfasts sandwich, spetzle and Mac and cheese are my favs here but I’ve never ordered anything I didn’t like.

German style beer hall. It basically rocks. For awhile they only served beer and a few options for wine… but now a days they actually have a liquor selection with mixed drinks making this place appeal to even more people. So my first experience here… there are peanuts all over the tables and floors and people sharing great times… it was awesome. They have a really fantastic menu of food choices which are filling and affordable. Their beer selection is of course amazing and I highly recommend this place to just about anyone. if you want to come with kids or for a softer night, just come earlier and it is a very welcoming and easy going atmosphere… then later at night and on weekends it can start to fill with the college crowds and be a just a great experience for those looking for that. I come here often and love the staff and bartenders as well… great people who are knowledgeable and friendly. Try this place out sometime!

You can tell that the person who designed this bar has obviously been to Germany. A good way to get me to love your bar is to put games in it. A better way is to put more than one game. The best way is to put a bunch of them and not charge me to play them. Wolff’s is definitely what the doctor ordered when it comes to this. Ping pong, shuffleboard, and darts are readily available and free of charge. I do wish that the ping pong table wasn’t where it is, as I feel bad having to make other customers chase my ball when it inevitably ends up under their table. The draft list is a good selection of German beers, with a few others thrown in in case Germany isn’t what you’re after(in which case you may want to ask yourself why your are at a biergarten). Each of the beers is available in a variety of sizes, from a .3L glass to the gigantic boot of beer(rumor has it that it’s almost 2L). While we didn’t eat a meal there, we did share a pretzel(delicious), with beer cheese on the side(not so much). Definitely skip it and stick with the mustard, which had a great horseradish flavor and a great tang.

I don’t drink beer and I’m not a huge fan of German food, so this post may be useless in that aspect. I am, however, a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of breakfast foods… thus I think I’m qualified to review their brunch. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon(obviously). It was fantastic! The croissant was perfect, I think the best I’ve ever had. So buttery and fluffy. The eggs and bacon were cooked to perfection. It was really just a delightful breakfast sandwich. Typing this makes me want another! The meals come with a drink, but not the alcoholic type. You can choose from orange juice(not fresh, poured out of a store-bought container, but still good), coffee or tea. While I was here with my friends, some of them were generous enough to let me try their food. I tried the pancakes, which were delicious, and the scrambled eggs, which were also delicious. I am getting so hungry! Everything else looked delish: The pulled pork with eggs on it, the Belgian waffles, the burger, everything. There are two things I don’t like about Biergarten. I despise the fact that they don’t take credit cards. That’s a huge pet peeve of mine, I feel like in this day and age everyone should just take credit cards. The other thing I don’t like is that to order food, you have to get up from your table and walk to the back of the bar and order and pay for it there. The food is brought to your table, so there’s that, but for those of us that are lazy(and probably those that are hungover) extra walking is just not needed. Despite those two things that I don’t like, it’s still impossible to give them anything less than 5 stars. Unlimited peanuts are provided, and you can throw the shells on the floor, so that’s fun, and nice to have something to munch on while waiting for your meal. Now I can’t stop thinking about this brunch haha. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Great atmosphere, good service, and pretty good food. I’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile now so my friend and I randomly came here on a Thursday afternoon. It was freezing out and parking was a bitch but beyond that everything went smoothly. As we entered I was confused by this ceiling-to-floor-long drapery hanging in front of the door. Was this place closed off for an event? Nope. They were clever and put a barrier between the cold and the interior. I’ve never seen anywhere else do this and I was quite impresses because nothing is worse than sitting at a table and getting hit by the cold every time the door opens. Walking into the place we were surprised by the décor. It was quite awesome with deer antlers and streams of lights hanging from the ceiling and the giant fake tree in the middle of the establishment. The only problem was the lighting: above the bar was perfect but the opposite side of the restaurant was lacking. I liked how they had free peanuts and you could throw the shells on the ground and, also, that you could write/draw on the tables. It gave the place a really laid back, relaxing feel. I was impressed by how many people were here for a Thursday night as well. We went up to the concession-looking stand to order our food. I was dying for a good reuben, so both my friend and I ordered one plus an order of wings to split. We ended up getting half an order of their Maple Bacon Wings and half Garlic Sriracha. The wings were cooked well, they weren’t crispy but they weren’t under-cooked either. They gave plenty of sauce to coat; I hate it when there is barely enough sauce for the wings. The maple bacon wings were disappointing because the sauce wasn’t even sticking to the wing. The taste of the sauce was pretty good, but you didn’t get a lot of it. I kept dipping my wing in the sauce but it kept sliding off. I wouldn’t get these again. The garlic sriracha was tasty; I’m not a big fan of the sriracha flavor but my friend loved these wings and definitely wants to come back for more. The fries, which were served with the reuben, were delicious. They were probably some of the best fries I have ever had out at a bar/restaurant. They were super crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and the taste was amazing. The oil they used must have been fresh. They were on the salty side, but this didn’t bother me in the least, if anything it made them better. This may be strange, but the fries almost tasted like mozzarella sticks — I don’t know what it was about them, maybe the oil they use? Either way, they were really good. Now for the reuben. I was quite disappointed to find that their thousand island dressing had horseradish. It did sort of ruin the flavor for me and as a result I wouldn’t get this sandwich again. I love lots of sauce with my reuben and the horseradish was way too overpowering to enjoy that aspect. Otherwise, the reuben was great! The bread was rye, the corned beef was plentiful and tasty and the ratios of the swiss cheese and sauerkraut was perfect. If you like horseradish, you would probably love this dish. It was interesting how you go up to order but then they deliver your food to whatever table you sit at. I wasn’t sure weather to tip the guy at first or not. We ended up going back up to in the end. The food took some time to come out, probably about 15 – 20 minutes, but we weren’t in any rush. We weren’t sure where to get soft drinks at first. It turned out to be the bar. I liked how they even served soda and water in their HB beer mugs. It was a nice touch. Also, the bartender seemed very friendly. Overall, the food is pretty good. I loved the atmosphere and how hopping the place was for a weekday. I can only imagine what it’s like on the weekends. Even though I wasn’t crazy about the reuben due to the horseradish, I definitely would come back for the Das Boot and to try another sandwich of theirs. I would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates a good bar with nice staff and decent food.
