Besides some rude waitresses this place has great food, a great atmosphere and is an all around fun place. Waitresses weren’t rude to me but one was rude to another and it wasn’t deserved at all. Regardless of that I enjoy coming here. Just beware of the tiny Korean chick. She’s a snot. Bartenders are always sweet. The regulars there are a riot I come in at least once a month and I will usually sit at the bar since the bartenders are much nicer and the conversation is always fun.

Found this good pub in the middle of industrial warehouses. Good but not too extensive selection of craft beer on tap and in bottles. The food was good pub fare and with a good menu, including Shepherd’s Pie and some type of Bangers and Mashed Potato. I had the house burger, which was a little dry on a hard roll, so I didn’t enjoy it much. Appetizers were great, including the Nachos, which are enough for at least 4 per order, and the poppers and potato skins were good. Service is very good

Prices too high. This is Albany. NOTNYC… Service is slow. Food is average at best… Make sure you are out of there before 8:30 — 9:00, that is when the Frat boy brigade starts rolling in. Cash only is a drawback. Perhaps they want to avoid dealing with credit card companies, but if I owned a bar, I would WANT my patrons to use plastic. Much easier for them to order another round when they simply have to sign for it. Service was slow. Sat out at a table outside. I had to go to the bar to get drinks once as our waitress was MIA. As others have posted, if they made this more of an «Adult bar» I think they would be onto something. Once 9pm rolls around, it feels like I am back in college…

So, my Girlfriend and I rolled in here after having an absolutely dreadful Friday, and decided that we wanted to get some food and some drinks. We went to two other places before settling on Stout, based solely on the fact that there was a table available. We rolled in, were told that we could pick any table and that someone would be over to take care of us. We sat down at the only available booth, which was sticky, and there was only one menu. About 10 minutes went by and there was still no server. Given the cleanliness of the table, the lack of selection on the menu, and the literally non existent service, we decided that it was time to go. So, I don’t know how the food was, but if that lack of attention to detail was to be a guide, I don’t imagine that the food was going to be very good at all.

Stopped in on a Wednesday nite, small crowd , seated right away and the service was down hill from there. The tall waitress took our order, never told us the specials. when she served our order she nearly slid my son in laws dinner in his lap. after serving dinner she disappeared. we never got a chance for refills. Had to find her to get bill. Food was average service horrible. will never go again.

This place is horrible. The bartender was unpleasant and rude. I stood at the bar for ever and the bartender did not even acknowledge me. He finally got me a shot of tequila but when I asked for my change back the bartender refused to give any back and got me kicked out. Are you kidding me? One shot of tequila, and not good quality tequila at that, does not cost $ 10. He even took the drink back from me. Now that is unacceptable. Never going back to this place. I’m going to stick to Beergarten across the street. At least they don’t overcharge you or are rude to their customers.

Stopped in today for lunch and a couple of pints. Went with the pulled pork sandwich. Served with fries, coleslaw and a pickle. The pork was fine. Could have used a bit more sauce but that’s just me. I like getting sauced. Sorry. The fries were good but the coleslaw. Holy Mary mother of God. TONEDOWNTHEPEPPER. 2 fork fulls was all I could take. Service was 1st rate. I’ll be back.

The worst. After waiting an hour for bar food, we got overcooked fries and leathery fish. I would rather have a lobotomy than eat here again.

I like the way the inside is set up, the beer selection isn’t bad, but everything else… eh, no. Major issue: cash only. Please explain that to me in a bar that is so conventional — to a fault — in every other way. I hate being served in a plastic cup, it makes me feel like I am at a frat party. And this just feels like a college bar. It would be so much more enjoyable if they would change the elements that cause that feeling to create a nice, adult bar. It has the bones for it, yet refuses.

lunchtime dine in option was chosen. We got the pick 3 combo app & chicken ques. with fries. Everything was delicious & came rather quickly seeing it was prime lunch time hour. staff was very friendly and efficient. daily specials offered here as well. only 1 small con — not much food for the price fries — 5.50(hand cut but maybe only a whole potato worth) pick 3 combo — only 2 items per item selected(we got chick tenders, mozz sticks, & potato skins) We will go back again to try different menu items!

Stopped here for lunch with a coworker while in the area for business. From the outside it looked nice. Walked in and the server said we could sit anywhere. Chose a small booth and immediately noticed that the seats on both sides were sticky. It was a nice day and the doors were open, could smell cigarette smoke coming in from outside for a short time. Ordered the turkey ruben, which was okay, although the bread on the bottom was quite soggy. I did like the french fries. Personally, I would not return. After reading the other reviews, I would like to add that we did pay by credit card.

Pro: 1. The waitresses are very attractive. 2. Beer is reasonably priced. 3. The food is reasonably good. Con: 1. The music is EXTREMELYLOUD — even during happy hour on slow days. Even when the bar is empty, the music is so loud you cannot have a conversation with your friends. The unreasonably loud music keeps me from frequenting Stout. No need to turn off the music — but there is no need to turn the volume up to 11. 2. They do not take credit cards for some reason. This is ridiculous in 2013… everybody takes credit cards, except Stout, Beer Garden and English Pub — all on Broadway. The only reasons I can imagine for this are — they are too cheap to spring for credit card fees(which shifts the cost to customers who need to use the conveniently-placed ATM) or because they want to hide their income from the IRS(which is fraud). Either way, this is an easily fixable problem that Stout refuses to fix. 3. The location is not great — not a particularly nice or safe part of town. The parking lot is terrible. In summary — if they turned down the music, accepted credit cards and paved the parking lot, this would be a reasonable place to have a beer. Until then there are plenty of other options.

This bar has everything it needs to be a great happy hour destination, but the music is SOLOUD that you can’t have a normal conversation with people standing right next to you. I would go here a lot, but the huge speakers they have hanging over every seat in the bar make it annoying to stay for more than one beer — so annoying I can’t even give it three or four stars it otherwise deserves. This seems easy to fix… The staff and the menu are perfectly fine. Seems pretty shady to be cash only in this day and age, but I guess that’s the IRS’s problem.

I’ve been to Stout twice so far, and absolutely nothing about it makes me want to go back. On my first visit, I met up with some girlfriends for a few drinks. I ordered a Sam Adams and I was floored by the price. Something like 7 or 8 bucks for a beer. Yes, I understand that it’s 20 ounces, but that’s still far too much for me to want to stay and order more. It was a Friday night I believe and only about 8pm, so there weren’t many people at the bar. However, I got a distinct whiff of frat boy from the place. I didn’t realize until my second visit why it felt that way: I neglected to notice the«Graney’s» above«Stout» on the sign. The original Graney’s, on New Scotland Ave, was always filled with college dudebros and I never, ever felt comfortable there. The music was so loud that I could barely hear my friends talking. However, what irked me the most was that the bartenders were clearly playing to the opposite sexes. I don’t know if that was to get larger tips, but the female bartender only served the male patrons and vice versa. I stood at the bar, clearly waiting to order another drink, while the female bartender was standing right in front of me talking to the guys next to me. I waited and waited for her to take my order, and she didn’t. Finally, a solid five minutes later, the male bartender came over from the other end of the bar and got me another drink. Absolutely ridiculous. Needless to say, I didn’t stay long. My second visit was during happy hour. I figured maybe, since it was a Wednesday and earlier in the evening, that the atmosphere would be different and the prices a little lower. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Four dollars for a Sam Adams! Insane. Again, the music was blasting so loud that I had to scream at my friends to hear me. Blasting! At HAPPYHOUR! I couldn’t believe it. Forget the fact that Stout is supposed to be an Irish bar and yet nothing about it is Irish aside from the shamrocks thrown half-assed on the walls. It’s just all-around lame.

Go on a Tuesday night. I went in for a friend’s birthday and was informed that all beers on tap are $ 4 for 20 oz. That’s the best deal in this entire area. Plus, they have a great selection on tap(about 16 taps). Seriously, I need to move my drinking nights to Tuesday. Otherwise, it’s $ 4 for 12 oz, $ 7 for 20 oz, which isn’t too terrible. I like Stout. It’s a very modest bar, open floor plan, good atmosphere, cool bartenders, and a front deck for when the weather’s right. I think it’s a nice addition to the neighborhood. They are cash only like everyone else in the area, so hit the bank before heading down. I haven’t tried any of their food, but if it’s anything like Graney’s, I’m sure I will be a fan.

A beautiful early Wednesday evening visit found the deck tables unsurprisingly full. The wide-open doorways to the inside allowed us to choose a table just inside but still have a good view of the outdoors while admiring the layout of the bar, booths and indoor area. One complaint I express is that they allow smoking at the tables on the deck. There are ashtrays on those tables so I assume management encourages smoking in that area. Of course, this means that any breeze outside, or temperature differential between outdoors and inside will bring the cigarette smoke indoors. I don’t know what the State law is on this aspect, but other establishments I frequent require their deck or patio patrons to move to a distant area for smoking. There was a nice selection of beers on tap with at least 5 of them being stouts. We tried 4 of them and you can certainly taste the difference. We ordered the Stout Nachos(my mistake, I meant to ask for the ones with the Irish stew on top — Snatchos). First impression was that this dish did not look inviting. I could get past the cheeze-wiz, but the tomatoes were grayish colored(see picture). We’ll probably make it back sometime because we like the atmosphere and the beers. Maybe during the afternoon when the beer prices are a bit lower.
