This place is not much different from your standard Subway store. You can expect your usual sandwich options here. I will be reviewing my experience with this store. Since, this Subway is part of the Marina Village shopping center, there are plenty of free parking outside. The store is usually not busy, and you are not likely to wait much at all before getting started on your order. The food quality is questionable. Although they can taste great, the ingredients are not always fresh and genuine. Sometime, my stomach don’t feel right after finishing the sandwich. I get this feeling if the ingredients are old or have too chemical process or preservatives. This never happens to me if I eat home cook meal with fresh natural ingredients. Thus, it could be this Subway left their ingredients out too long or their cost cutting factory are cutting too much corners on quality. Neither way, this is unacceptable, I will much not risk stomach ache and eat at other restaurants instead. The soda machine is also quite disappointing. I saw Pepsi and some other weird brand of soda and juice. I picked the orange flavor soda, but it is way too sweet to drink. They probably mess up on the mixing the syrup and soda ratio. If soda is not your thing, you can enjoy some room temperature tea. Overall, this Subway is a fast and convenience place to get a sandwich, but you have to beware of the quality of the ingredients and mediocre drinks.

I go here with my teammates after dragon boat practice every Saturday from March to Mid-November. We normally show up around 2 – 2:30, and the staff there pretty much expects us every week. I normally just order the Cold Cut Combo with everything but pickles. If you get it non-toasted, you won’t get charged tax here, so a $ 5 footlong will just be $ 5. :D I don’t get why you get charged tax for toasted bread… The staff here are nice and we haven’t had a problem here yet after two years! Will be back here next week!

I was pretty harsh on this place last time I came here. Came here today and must say that I was impressed with how fast the line went and the quality of the sandwich. Gonna raise them back up to 5 stars. Thanks for improving your operations and sorry for being so critical when you first started out here. Excellent staff and service. No, I wasn’t bribed.

I wonder what is causing Subway sandwiches to go to crap. Got 2 sandwiches from this one because the one off Island Dr. has bad meat. Nothing odd about the orders — no olives, no jalepenos. Got home and they were both so slathered with yellow mustard that nothing else could be tasted. It was awful. I have to say Bravo to Subway for encouraging me to make more sandwiches at home. Why not stick with the Subway program of doing things?

I try to avoid reviewing chains but I frequent this Subway pretty often. Not sure why the rating is so low as this place is just like any other Subway(except the horrendous one in Stockton but let’s ignore that). Sometimes there’s a line during lunch time(12ish to 1) but other than that, there’s generally been no line when I’ve gone. Some of the workers skimp out on the toppings and others pile it on. Just gotta be lucky I guess!

So I come here almost every Saturday because the Davis Racing Dragons team has practice at the Alameda lake site every Saturday from 12pm-6pm. The people here are nice and I’m sure they always expect me and the team to come here at around 2:30 — 2:45pm on Saturdays because that is when our lunch/break times are. Bathrooms here are decent. It use to be free to use but now they set a number lock thing on it so you have to order something from them and you use the number on the receipt to use the bathroom. I found out that the number password is the same everytime. I believe it’s 7161LOL. Anyways, I usually get the same thing every time. A foot-long Cold Cut Combo with all the veggies except jalapenos and banana peppers and sweet onion sauce and chipotle southwest sauce and not toasted. My place to go after first practice and before second practice with my dragonboat team.

Subway had only one associate here early in the morning. nevertheless, she was very eager to satisfy my tastes, whatever they were. many choices were offerred me as to bread, garnishes, cheese or no cheese, lettuce, salt and or pepper? just too many choices. which is why i seldom eat at subway. eats: 6″ breakfast combo with seattle’s best coffee(3) –choice of 3 meats, choose black forest ham and white egg, white cheese. white bread too. –skipped on the lettuce part. too much garnish usually messes up the sammie for me. –sammie was tasty but not filling. — i only wanted the coffee anyways. definitely not seattle’s finest when peet’s and starbux are 2 better known seattle coffee bix. –seattle coffee way better than farmers, superior. *brew mostly bold, not so smooth… ok for price. crumbs: –may repeat with other sammie choices. –3 stars taste, 4 stars value.

I was so disappointed this past Friday at this Subway! I took 2 little 6 year old girls who were running around Alameda all day on a playdate to get some sandwiches, and left with one of them broken hearted thanks to the less than pleasant sandwich maker. I wanted 2 kids meals with sandwiches, apples, and juice boxes in the cute little«Brave» bag advertising the new movie they’re so excited to see next weekend. She rudely tells me that one of them can not get meatballs on a child sized sandwich. No problem, I said, we’ll just make that one a 6 inch. When it’s time to pay I had to pay for all her things separately, which is understandable. Makes sense to pay for that meatball sub, apples, and juice box separate, right? Fine. But here goes the catastrophe… she REFUSED to give her the«Brave» bag! Can you believe that? And she wasn’t even the one to ring me up! The guy who did ring me up reached for it with no problem at all and she stopped him and said it was out of the question. Poor thing was sitting there with tears in her eyes and her head down because she wanted the bag more than the food and the mean sandwich lady would not let him give it to us! Just evil! I offered to buy it and she said they aren’t for sale and she wouldn’t even know how to ring me up. Terrible! The sandwiches were okay, but I’ll never go back there. Can’t support any business that would break a kids heart without a care in the world.

Good place to eat. The food is fresh and the service is friendly. Small joint… more seats would be good. Prices are still a bit high for some of the sandwiches.

This is mah spot, son! I’m a regular here on weekdays because I try to have a low-calorie lunch pretty often and Subway is cheap. There are plenty of Subway locations closer to my office than this one in Alameda’s Marina Shopping Center — but the convenience of the parking lot gets me every time. There are actually 2 Subways within 3 blocks of my office. But HEY, before you judge my lazy a$$ — in the winter(which nowadays seems to last 8 months long) when it’s raining and freezing, I am not walking 3 blocks in the rain and wind in my work clothes/heels. So I drive 5 minutes through the tunnel to get Subway here. I’m a genius really. One guy that works here memorizes my order. He starts making it the second he sees me walk in. He grabs the wheat bread, cuts it in half and says, «turkey, no cheese, no toast, spicy mustard only, all the veggies & extra spinach, right?» Uh, RIGHT! Good job buddy! I love when people remember me and know my order. One day I ordered oven roasted chicken instead of turkey, and he almost flipped out. HAHA I know. I’m CUH-RAZY for switching things up on him. Sorry, dude. You’ll adjust. P. S. The owner lady is kinda creepy. She works the register everyday during the lunch rush and just supervises her workers as if she doesn’t trust them. She also is a little more stingy with sandwich toppings.

I am not a big fan of Subway in general — but my teenage boys love Subway so I’m a fan. However, with the choice of different Subways all around, it pays to do research. This one is on the low-end for me: they are very stingy with the veggies(it’s like they just want to wave them over and call that enough… come’on, it’s like five cents for all that rabbit food, pile it on sammie!). Service is okay — go to the one on Park Street or Webster if you want a better Subway experience.

Hi, my name is Soo Jin and I’m a huge fan of sandwiches. Especially sandwiches that look more like salads stuffed inside two pieces of bread. I love Subway, eat fresh, be like Jared, show off a pair of pants that are OBVIOUSLY too big for you. We get it, eat Subway, lose weight. My drug of choice: 6 inch, oven-roasted chicken(more like, defrosted in microwave for 30 seconds, questionable meat), wheat bread, honey mustard dressing, all the vegetables, even the spicy jalapenos that I use to «flavor the veggies» and toss out before consuming because we all know, that those suckers are going to rip through your intestines… and well, ya know«cause an accidente.» Gosh, I love Subway. I really do. From the funky, onion smell that floats throughout the store, to the passionate throwing of vegetables and the, «would you like salt/pepper and oil/vinegar?» To which, I say, «yes.» And I watch the sandwich makers go nuts with it. Shake shake shake and squeeze!!! Go head with your bad self.

I really LOVE subway sandwiches — but this location is the WORST ever. Whenever I’m in other areas and have a Subway sandwich I remember how great they can be. But I work right near this one in Marina Village and about every 6 months I decide to try them again and each time I swear I will never go back. Biggest problem(for me) is that they are always rude, rude, rude and treat me like I’m bothering them by ordering. Even if the place is empty(and it usually is) — they seem really put out to have to make my sandwich. The bread at this location always is doughy and compressed like a ball of underbaked goo — they never seem to have the fresh baked bread that other subways have(even though they have the oven there — they either don’t know how to use it or put substandard crap in it). The ingredients aren’t always fresh like at other subways. And the really goofy thing, the lady taking the money has a hand calculator where she randomly adds on to the total whatever she feels like. Get the same sandwich three times and it will be three different prices. And she always gives me a mean look. I really, truly hope I can remember to read my own review before I forget and try them again in another 6 months. There are too many other great places nearby — the Magic Wok has new management and their food is great now(just a few doors down) and the Mint Leaf is wonderful. Even Carl’s Junior beats this Subway so there really is no reason to subject myself to another bad lunch.

Five dollar foot long — how can you go wrong? I come here order my oven roasted chicken breast on toasted wheat bread with Swiss cheese, extra mustard, no mayo, with banana peppers, olives, tomatoes, jalapenos, green peppers, onions, some black pepper and a dash of red vinegar and I’m good to go. I don’t expect much — The staff is always nice to me, They wear new plastic gloves when they prepare the sandwich and take it off once they ring the cashier. I normally go here for take out, however, If you decide to eat here at this location it’s pretty small, I believe they only have five tables, Nevertheless, they have a 32′ plasma HDTV. To sum it up — this is a pretty clean Subway location with quick service and nice staff — to me at least.

This place doesn’t completely suck, but I am usually reminded of why I avoid this place whenever I venture in, rather than my favorite over on Madison in Oakland. Yes, the English isn’t too good, but the attitude is worse. Just last week, when I asked for the amount of veggies I wanted(which is what I typically get on Madison) the woman at the counter quiped that they couldn’t afford to make my sandwich. Her sickly little grin did nothing to desguise the fact that she was serious and not joking, trying to shame me out of getting what I’d wanted. I told her that they could indeed afford it. I left with the sandwich I wanted(although this lame location never has spinach.. .which is another reason I avoid the place) and a bad taste in my mouth that had nothing to do with the sandwich. It is clear that these folks are trying to fatten their profit margin by shorting their customers. If it was up to them you’d get 3 olive slices and 1 tomato slice per sandwich. Screw these bastards!

From Wiktionary. DEPLORABLE — English — Adjective Positive deplorable(Comparative, more deplorable. Superlative, most deplorable) 1. Deserving strong condemnation; shockingly bad. 2. To be felt sorrow for; worth of compassion. Example of usage: This Subway is DEPLORABLE. The worst I’ve ever been to for so many reasons. After entering, I stood and waited several minutes before Employee 1 on the phone or Employee 2 cooking bread acknowledged me. After being acknowledged, Employee 2 proceeded to put mayo on my bread after i asked for no mayo… then proceeded to scrape the mayo off with a knife(instead of getting me a new bread). She would later use the same mayo spread knife to cut my sandwich(without washing it, of course), making sure i’d get mayo on my first bite into my sandwich. She would not spread my veggies evenly onto my sandwich. Instead, she would bunch them together and make my sandwich incredibly UNeven. While ringing me up at the register and accepting my Subway Club card, she would hand it back to me WITHOUT putting any points on it and tell me «You can do it yourself on the website.» She would then proceed to laugh and smile at her mistake. On top of this, the tomatoes literally appear to be rotten and the restroom sink is broken. DEPLORABLE.

I was roaming around the Marina Village Shopping Center trying to figure out what to eat for lunch. I decided to go cheap and head to Subway. I was pretty hungry, so I opted for the Five… Five…Five Dollar Foot-looooooooooong! I ordered the cold cut trio on wheat with all the veggies. The lady asked me what kind of cheese I wanted, so I said cheddar. She then proceeds to put on shredded cheddar cheese… like the stuff you’d put on a taco. I didn’t see any cheddar slices, so I just let it slide. Subway isn’t the ideal place to get a great sandwich, but its cheaper than Quiznos, and seemed healthier than the other options that I had. The bread always seems so floppy and smooshed. I guess I’d rather eat soft, smooshed bread than the stuff that cuts up your mouth when its over-toasted. And I can never eat a Subway sandwich without having the ingredients fall all over the place. Maybe its the shredded lettuce, or maybe I’m just messy. =P I was very full after my lunch, and ended up with a Five Dollar Food Coma! =)

It’s a Subway, but it’s above average for a Subway. That puts it at about average. The two qualities that sink or save a Subway: the freshness of the ingredient bar, and the quality of the store. If you give me a sweaty, stinky store, or a pile full of dirty-lookin’ meat and half-assed vegetables, I’ll regret every bite. This place delivered on both counts.

It’s a subway. They make your subs quick, you are getting mostly bread and you pay rock bottom prices. As far as the ethnic issues, I haven’t had any issues. Harder to get served quickly during lunch, but if you got there around 6 pm, you’ll be in an out pretty darn quick.
