This is an adorable little shop with a delightful and very knowledgable owner. I bought a book for my boyfriend, learned a bit about the history of Thousand Oaks, and found myself not wanting to leave the shop to go to my appointment! I’ll be back to this shop both for its books and its wonderful company!

My husband and I stumbled upon Mitchell’s magical bookshop last night while waiting for a table downstairs. It was like sifting through your favorite uncle’s study, combing the shelves for a good book. He’s read every book in the place, or darn near it, and was able to suggest a few titles we hadn’t read. I bought a thesaurus from the 1930s — it turned out it was his mother’s book originally — and a few back issues of Martha Stewart Living. I love Amazon and Barnes & Noble as much as the next cyber-surfer, but I loved finding this gem in the middle of Agoura. And Mitchell himself is worth the trip upstairs. Enjoy!
