Islands Resturant

I Walked in on a Friday at 3pm, the place was very quiet. As stated in a previous post, the restaurant needs to work on its Host/​hostess greeting. I stood there for nearly 15 minutes, trying to catch the attention of a staff member to be seated and during this time i had numerous staff members acknowledge me, yet walk past me and carry on conversations with each other. I can understand if restaurant is busy but clearly this was not the case, when i walked in. Once seated however, the server did a phenomenal job at making sure we had everything we needed. Our food was cooked to perfection. My favorite burger at the moment is the Mavericks burger,. I have been here on numerous occasions and found the food to be excellent, the servers do a great job. The only downfall of this restaurant is in the area of the Hostess/​Host greeting once you enter the restaurant. Luckily for me i love the food here otherwise i would have be tempted to turn around and walk right back out.

Ordinarily an awesome place to eat, it’s gone SUPER down hill in the past few months since they added those electronic ordering systems.
In the past 4 – 5 times I’ve gone, they have consistently messed up our order; it’s either been not what we ordered at all, an incomplete order, or sometimes they just don’t bring out someone’s food at all. Today, for example, they got my order wrong, then came back with it «fixed» but still wrong, and then finally a third time gave me my order. They never refilled our drinks and when we asked for a basket of fries we were given the check instead with no mention of the fries coming; after another 5 – 10 min of waiting, we had to leave.
Every time something like this has happened, the manager or someone has come by and apologized, but good faith has definitely faded by now. The food isn’t bad, but you can only have your order be wrong so many times before you get fed up with it. Not going back for a while until I hear that they’ve gotten better about service.

I had the BEST experience at this restaurant! Our server Saul absolutely went beyond expectations to welcome and serve myself and friends. He made sure to recommend is delicious food, check on us often, and be easy to talk to as well! If I lived in Cali, I could definitely see myself being friends with him! Great place! I highly recommend!

Took the family there this week, was great to sit back and relax and have a good lunch. The burgers are great and their fish tacos are great! Very low key but great atmosphere– reminds you of the islands with the surfing memorabilia. Their fries are unlimited and my boys love them and go through 3 – 4 baskets when they eat!

This was the first time at an Islands where they actually made my burger well done. I didn’t have to ask for even extra napkins they walked by to ask how the food was and then offered more of them. I was shocked that they were so on top of everything. The margaritas were perfect and I liked that they asked if I would like another. Overall I am happy we stopped on the was to the zuma beach.

Happy Hour is so great here and our waitress Katie was amazing. She was so sweet and helpful. The food and drinks were awesome.

Been here many times. Food is usually good. This time there was much less cheese on the cheese fries (quality was just okay), and when my patty came the turkey patty was obviously hastily thrown together with red bell peppers in the patty meat which they insist has been protocol forever, I beg to differ. Either way we waited longer then usual for the meal and it just wasn’t over all satisfying at all this time. Melanie the manager did come over and simply apologized, which I much appreciated.

We had an amazing lunch. Saul was our server… he was very friendly, funny, attentive and courteous. The food was at our table in a very timely manner and Saul made sure our refills of soda and French fries was quick. I will be back again soon and I would definitely ask to sit in Sauls’s section again. I haven’t had such a fun experience at a restaurant in a long time. Give that kid some KUDOS… I’m Team Saul!!!

Came for lunch, busy but able to be seated right away. The hostess was very nice — I our server was very attentive.
The food was delicious! I was stuffed or else I would’ve gotten a lava cake!

I love the Maui burger!!! Love the endless fries and the fun atmosphere.
The waitstaff are always friendly. I love watching the surfing videos while we wait for our order. I’ve had the Chinese chicken salad here too. The Tiki Tenders are good and so are the tacos.

Absolutely love the burgers here! I’ve tried atleast 3 different types so far, they’re so incredibly full of flavor and delicious, there hasn’t been a time I’ve had leftovers because I just can’t stop eating! Their sweet potato fries and tortilla soup are delicious as well! Haven’t been here for Happy Hour but Im thinking I should try it out!

I’ve been to multiple Islands locations and this, by far, has been my best experience. Our server Kristina was beyond helpful and extremely attentive. She got our orders down to a tee, including all of our annoying add-​ons and substitutes.
You can never go wrong with an Island burger and fries but I would definitely come back solely for the amazing service.

Let’s start from the beginning. There was no host or hostess when we walked in. My husband, daughter and I stood there for a few minutes, until one of the waitresses took us to a table.
Someone came and immediately took our drink order. Then a few minutes later, someone else came and took our food order. My daughter ordered the kids slider with apple slices, which is supposed to come with some sort of yogurt dipping sauce. I asked for very well done grilled onions on my burger.
Food came out about 20 minutes later, and my onions are almost raw. No! I asked the guy who brought our food out if I could please get some well done onions since the raw ones will kill my stomach. A few minutes later, my daughter points out that she was supposed to get apple slices instead of fries. But where’s the waitress to tell her? Nowhere to be found. 10 minutes later, still no waitress or onions. My burger is getting cold, my overtired 5 year old really wants her apples. Ho hum… still no waitress. Another 10 minutes later we FINALLY have someone come to see how everything is. We asked for the apples and onions and got them a few minutes later. The apple was barely sliced and it didn’t come with any yogurt dipping sauce. I had no patience to even mention it at that point. But seriously? 20 minutes with nobody coming by to refill drinks, check on our order, anything?
Time to pay the check. I put down my credit card and then wait. And wait. And wait. Can someone PLEASE come take my money so I can leave and put my daughter down for a nap?!? Please?! My goodness!
I eat at the Sherman Oaks location, as well as the Woodland Hills location regularly. This location is seriously lacking wait staff and customer service. It’s a shame, cause we usually enjoy Islands. Not today.

Went with my family today for a late dinner. We ordered the Buffalo Wings Appetizer, which were nothing special. We also ordered the Beachside Sliders, which were tasty but the patty was slightly dry. In addition, we ordered some fries which were perfectly seasoned. The service was very slow though, and when we told our waiter we needed more time to decide what we wanted to order, she went behind the bar and started chatting away with a customer and another server. She did not return to our table for at least 15 minutes! Set aside from that, Islands is a very clean restaurant, and has many options on the menu to choose from. I had an average dinner at Islands, and I will probably revisit with some friends or a large group.

Maybe it was this particular weekend i came here, but there was nothing but dirt queens here!

I know the deal around here! They are delusional if they think that islands is gonna offer something better than a tasteless burger.
The fries were cold. The drink came without ice. They added onions when i said I didn’t want onions.
Service was rushed, I’m assuming it was because they closed in AN HOUR, and i came in 60 mins prior to closing.
It didn’t need to be said, it was implied with their constant questions like «how’s everything?»
«heres the check» «almost done here?» «can i take your plates»…asking me that question 2 mins after i got my plate.

I know I should have realized this earlier, but you go to Islands for the food, definitely not the service. I know the servers do their best, but it is obvious that they hire first time servers and give them absolutely no training.
We went in late last night, and the girl came and took our drink order. We ordered 3 waters and one beer with a side of limes. The waters came out rather quickly, but it took another 5 – 10 minutes for someone else to bring me the beer, which was now 3 inches from the top due it the head then must have poured earlier has gone and it was sitting for a while. Guess what, there was no lime. A couple of minutes later she came by and said, «Oh, I need to get the limes.» Then another 5 minutes went by and I asked her for my limes and she went to go get them then.
Our food came and guess what!!! She brought me the wrong burger. The other two were correct, but she brought me a Tsunami Burger, not the Hula I ordered. I waited another 10 minutes for my replacement and she stated they were working on it, but the manager is on it. A few minutes later the manager brought my burger and stated, after a little bit of prompting, that she would take it off our bill. Now please explain to me why it took so long to get me my replacement burger. You would assume that a restaurant that specializes in burgers would always have a burger on the grill. By the time I received my burger the other two in my party were almost finished with their food.
Now the burger was very good, once I was able to eat it, and I love their fries. My daughter when to the restroom and at a able near the restroom there were several servers sitting eating a dessert. I don’t get that. Don’t they have a break area in the back of house? I think that is tacky.
Again, you need to understand that you’re going their for the food, nothing else!

Great burgers here at Islands! Some people I know and myself had been trying to go here for a long time and when we finally made it it was well worth it. I had the Malibu burger which is a bacon cheeseburger. It was very good. I asked for medium rare and I was a little disappointed with that because it came a little more cooked than medium. It was delicious. There were other disappointments however including the «bottomless French fries». Our entire table had asked for more fries many times and each time we only got one serving of fries each time. That doesn’t go very far for 5 people. This was very frustrating to sway the least. I was also a little astonished by the price of the bill it was a good burger but I’m not sure I will be back anytime soon.

We have tried this place twice in the past few months. At our more recent done-​in experience, the booth we were seated at had crumbs and leftover morsels from the last guests on the seat. The table was wet since they had just wiped out down. We tried a Siracha burger and it was okay, not spicy enough for my liking. The waiter was friendly and attentive, and our food came out quickly and was hot. Overall, am OK experience, but not planning to go back to eat here.
More recently, we ordered food to go from this location with the curbside pickup option. The Cobb salad was okay, but didn’t taste fresh — possibly the lettuce. We also ordered fries and they were very dry and hard, like they had been overcooked. The kids burger bun was also hard. For the amount we paid, I expected the food to be better.

Islands is a great place to get lunch. The food here is always good. The menu includes burgers, salads, tacos, and a few sandwich choices. I particularly like their salads. They are large in size and I always end up taking half home. They also offer endless fries, which a lot of people don’t realize. So when you finish your fries, you can always ask for more!
This location is okay. It is conveniently located off of the 101 freeway. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is clean.
The servers are friendly but on the two most recent occasions that I have been there, they have been super slow. It took a while to get seated and then to have our order taken. After we got our food, the waitress was scarce and we had to flag her down when we were ready to go and wanted our check.
I usually stop here when I am in the area and looking for a good lunch.

Stopped here on our way into Calabasas from a long drive from Las Vegas.
It was the first non-​fast-​food restaurant I saw and I was starving soooo…
It is a chain, so you can visit it outside of California, as I know there is one in Vegas. The ambiance is surfer/​beach/​what have you, paired with mainly burgers, as that appears to be their main entrees.
I opted for the burger that was on their HH menu, which came with fries. Burger was all right. I should have gotten the regular ‘ol white bun because I got the wheat, that they give you a choice of, and it was DRRYYY. It actually fell apart while I was eating the burger and it kind of made me sad for the burger since it kind of ruined it. Lesson learned. If I’m gonna eat bad, I might as well eat BAD.
Although the burger kind of disappointed the chocolate shake with whipped cream topping was very good. Thick, and creamy, and it comes out in one of those frosty mugs like you are getting a root beer float.
Overall I would skip Islands in the future, just because I’ve been here before and I’d rather try a local spot.
