Loud area, service is a bit slow, and to me it felt a bit rude in the European sense of not caring that much about customers the way it is in the US.

A combination of high prices with unfriendly and non professional waiters presented in a place which is neither a cafeteria not a bar (and they consider it to bed both at the same time).
They have a pretty big space in a great location. I stopped here for a couple of beers and some tortillas. The taste wasn’t anything extraordinary.
Apparently this place is frequented by business people who work around the corner. The decision is nice and they have quite a big variety of items to choose from. Only if the staff knee how to smile…

Went to Vait for coffee twice, and really enjoyed it both times. The café con leche and the cappuccino were both good. Fresh bread and bacon quiche were great. Reasonable prices. I’d go back!

Creo que el máximo atractivo de este local es su ubicación, por aquello de que está en una zona en la que encontrar un local de hostelería abierto un domingo por la tarde implica caminar varias manzanas grandes o pagar precios abusivos por consumiciones de dudosa calidad. El concepto es el de una pastelería de toda la vida, pero con un lavado de cara que la hacen más atractiva y una carta más amplia que te permite consumir productos salados a las hora de las comidas más fuertes, asegurándose así tener el local lleno en todo momento. Porque siempre está lleno, no me lo explico.
El día que nosotros fuimos a merendar estuvimos un poco conservadores y pedimos un par de cafés y una palmera de chocolate para compartir. El café lo encontré normal y la palmera estaba buena aunque las he comido mucho mejores en esta ciudad (algunas de ellas en sitios tan cutres que ya no deben ni existir). El servicio fue correcto y en ningún momento nos pusieron mala cara porque decidiéramos echar un buen rato ojeando las revistas que ofrecen sin consumir más. El precio final fue lo esperable para el barrio residencial más caro de la ciudad en el que apenas tiene competición; aún así, no fue de susto.
De todas formas, abundo en lo que dije en el primer párrafo: su fuerza radica en su localización; creo que si estuviera en un punto con más competencia similar alrededor lo tendría un poco más crudo.

Vait es la pastelería que todos querríamos tener debajo de casa si no tuviéramos miedo a engordar.
La variedad de pasteles apabullantes y su colección de tartas roza la perfección ¡todo casero!, su escaparate no parece el de una pastelería, sino el de un museo.
El salón de dentro es enorme, puede acoger grupos de cualquier tamaño y las terrazas de fuera también dan cobijo a los fumadores o a los que queremos tomar el sol con un cafelito.
Se queda en 4 estrellas porque algunas de sus empleadas son un poco bordes, pero salvo ese pequeño detalle es un sitio muy aconsejable si vas de paseo al Retiro.

¿Conoces Mallorca? Pues así es Vait, pero más moderno. Ayer entramos para llevarnos una merienda de buñuelos — si, ya tienen — y resulta que ¡son espectaculares! Todavía tendré que volver para una cata más a fondo porque no solamente es pastelería y panadería sino también café y tienen delicatessen para tomar o llevar. Así que no solamente sirven desayuno y merienda sino además pequeñas comidas y meriendas saladas.
Definitivamente un sitio para tener en la mente para cuando estás cerca de la Cibeles o la puerta de Alcalá.

Cute little bakery and coffee shop. It’s large and the pastries taste amazing and are picture perfect. My best friend and I killed an entire hour just on coffee and tapa like pastries and just let the world walk by. The waitress was super sweet and was laughing with us. They do know some English (very little), however, spoke in basic Spanish which was much appreciated and went a long way. They appreciated that we were making an effort and thus went the extra mile for us with our latte.

Possibly the best presented bakery I have seen hundreds of pastries, savouries and tasty morsels massively populated by local business types and the fashionable Ladies who lunch we were here twice once inside once outside, would have preferred a larger coffee but it’s about what you ask for, reasonably priced and food was very good also the place was spotlessly clean and staff very polite we even bought empanadas to take away

We dined here while walking through the city of Madrid sightseeing. It is conveniently located half way between the Arch at Plaza de la Independencia and the large fountain at Plaza Cibeles. We dined on the terrace but found the inside to be quite crowded and inviting as well (although you will pay 10% more on the terrace… but so worth it).
I had a cuban sandwich and fries. It is an interesting sandwich with an egg in the sandwich which is displayed through a little cut out in the bread. Very nice presentation and not something I had tried previously. They also have a great selection of cakes and pastries inside.
Service was very fast and friendly and very accommodating to those who do not speak spanish.
