Great restaurant with a small quaint vibe. The owner was talking to us the whole time and also was our waiter. This just shows the great small restaurant that Le Patron is. The food is outstanding too. I had the steak tartar, which was served perfectly and with fries. If anyone is ever in Madrid, go to this cheap but delicious place because I cant wait to go back.

A very small eatery run by just two guys. Despite their limited command of English, it was a pleasurable dinning experience. We had the Ratatouille and Langoustine, and the tuna Tataki. Both are delightful dishes. Would particularly recommend the tuna Tataki — the tuna was well seared. You could taste the crunch, the slight charred bits, the sweetness of the fish. The meal was sufficiently well-salted. However, I would actually like it to be less salty, but that is just my preference. Good job, guys!

The service here was very good, but we were the only patrons! My husband had the rib eye which was cooked to perfection. I had a starter of glass noodles with vegetables that was just the right amount of food. The veggies were cooked al dente, just perfect. I wouldn’t say this place is French. Probably more eclectic than anything. It has a funky dining room, quite small. The waiter brought us complimentary squid on toast. The squid was well seasoned, sautéed, but the toast was burned. Nonetheless we enjoyed our meal. Check it out.

This very nice restaurant is located in an ordinary looking street. The ambiance and high quality food are definitely one of the many reasons that make this place worth to visit. Try the steak tartare and the cheesecake as a desert, you won’t regret it!

The food was tasy. The bread is with olives inside. They gave us some edamame while we waited for our dishes. My tuna was very fresh. And the beef withliver of my husband was perfectly cooked and beef was really tender. We ate enough but we still decided to try the cheese cake. And this was a very good decision :)

Small restaurant close to gran via with a friendly owner that really has put his heart in this place. He simply chose his favorite food to create the menu, that is inspired by his extensive life experience abroad. So you would have some French, Italian, Japanese or even middle eastern inspired dishes. Perfect for picky eaters. I chose this place for the good reviews on Unilocal and for the closeness to my hotel as the first dinner here in Madrid and i was very pleased with my burrata and tuna tataki that was just perfectly served in a simple way. Total of the bill with a drink 35 €. This is really the kind of place to look forward to visiting while in Madrid thank to the great welcome.

Quiet, intimate, and unassuming this restaurant was nestled in the middle of a steady block about a 5 minute walk from my hotel on Gran Via. Honestly, I bookmarked this restaurant as a backup to the busier, bustling gastropub, La Gastro-croqueteria — which if you don’t have phone service here to call ahead for reservations will not see an open chair. Nevertheless, Le Patron made up for the disappointment and then some having the added intimate, candle-lit, small group ambience needed for a final night meal in Madrid with the wife. Opt for a bottle of white, their basic vino blanco(Clavidor) was actually amazing. Refreshing and impossibly smooth, we almost ordered another one before the buzz really hit us. Our meal began with a complimentary tapa of panko-crusted chicken skewers, tender, juicy with a small oil-less crunch. This was of special importance to us because having dined in Spain for a week at this point, we were exhausted from all the fried or oil-drenched seafood. Our first order was the foie gras 2-ways. If pâté is an acquired taste and texture, the accompanying jam will elevate anything to appetizing. The tuna tataki, which seems ubiquitous in Madrid, we had at Le Patron was a local triumph. Perfect sear on the outside, fatty gooey tuna on the inside. Better than I’ve had at many Sushi restaurants including Hatori Hanzo near by. Lastly we were strongly encouraged to try the Thai Chicken Curry. I normally wouldn’t try a meal outside of a restaurant dedicated to that cuisine, but here they managed to delicately balance all the necessary flavors without overcompensating or totally missing the target. With a similar tenacity to my food snobbery, I devoured the bowl with a vengeance. I could not have asked for a better meal in Madrid. Service and food was executed precisely. If I had a complaint, it would be that the meal took a little long to come out as the night of Flamenco thereafter could not wait.

This was definitely a highlight of my visit in Spain. The owner’s passion in his dishes and wine is very evident, and he loves talking with customers. We came early with a reservation, but you honestly don’t need one if you’re coming before 9pm. We were seated immediately and we opted for the seats by the window. It’s nice to be able to people-watch while sipping on wine, and you can enjoy sitting in a big comfy chair. We were given a complimentary appetizer of two quail eggs with a strawberry compote and balsamic drizzle — it was yummy! And this is coming from someone who isn’t too found of eggs. From the past reviews, my friend and I already knew what we wanted to order — the steak tartare and tuna tataki. We also ordered the burrata appetizer, which was delicious. It came with a side of truffle oil and truffle salt. Truffle life, ’nuff said. The owner also gave us suggestions on what wine to pair each dish with, and they were excellent suggestions. Unfortunately, Anjou wasn’t available when I came but hopefully they get it back soon. I thought the steak tartare was very well-prepared and the fries that go with it are great as well. The saltiness of the fries pairs well with the steak tartare, and the crostini are fine but I didn’t really eat it. My friend’s tuna tataki was yummy too! I wouldn’t have expected such a good Japanese dish in the middle of Madrid but I’m glad I was proven wrong. We ended up staying there for 2.5 hours, just drinking, eating, and relaxing. It was a great way to end my trip to Madrid and I’ll recommend it to any of my friends heading to Spain.

The food here gets an A+ for presentation and flavor. The tuna tataki and steak tatare came on rectangular stone-like plates ready for instagram. Even though the tuna tataki is a Japanese dish. I definitely recommend it. It’s a small restaurant, so don’t come with a group with more than 4 people.

This tiny place is such a great find. It has only 2 small dinning rooms(as far as I could tell), yet they were accommodating a couple of large parties of 8 or more while we were there. Everything was excellently prepared — the tuna with sesame soy was perfect. The Thai chicken dish was wonderful too. The proprietor is very friendly and his English is flawless! I would definitely return.

Excellent restaurant in the heart of Madrid. It’s a small place and definetly of the beaten track. Food creations are excellent and price-value is good. If you are looking for something different it’s a good place to go. Service is friendly, menu selections are just about right, not too much, not too little. Only spacing is a bit tight, however in this case its not disturbing. Not to be missed if you are looking for good quality food in Chueca.

We had a lovely evening here. The service was wonderful and the food was great. We enjoyed several items on the menu, but of special mention is the mese plater(the baba ghannouj is crazy good). They serve very shareable items and have a full bar and nice wine options. This is a nice break from some of the heavier items served here in Spain.

A great Unilocal recommendation. We went the day after they opened after vacations so unfortunately the menu was limited from what they normally have but still a nice variety. We shared the Burrata cheese as a starter, very tasty and fresh. Only bit that put me off on this was that the bread is an extra charge of € 1.50/pp and with a starter like this you need the bread. I had the steak tartare. It is done a bit unusual as they don’t mince their meat, instead leaving it as chunks. Personal preference but I do like it minced. As far as the taste goes, it was nice but nothing extraordinary. I love tartare and do eat it regularly, so I was a bit disappointed that it was not as phenomenal as other reviews had stated. My husband had the tuna tataki. He said it was slightly overcooked resulting in it being a bit dry. For dessert there were unfortunately only 2 options, the tiramisu or the sticky brownie. We chose to share the sticky brownie which was accompanied by cookie dough ice cream and 2 café con leches. The brownie was nice, very american style. The coffee was a good quality, nice was to end the meal. Overall, I would return and hopefully have more options available to try post-holidays :)

Food: 4.5 stars Service: 5 stars Get the STEAKTARTARE. It is to die for, especially paired with the Anjou French wine(see pic) that the owner recommended. The wine and the tartare balanced each other perfectly and I was in pure bliss mode. The beef fillet was also good, but the foie gras was a bit weird. I think the super creamy texture just threw us off a bit. The owner speaks English and was very friendly. We talked about how surprised he was to learn about all the great Unilocal reviews and to get a call from Unilocal about his business x) His wine recommendation was perfect and not overpriced at all. Such friendly service was uncommon during our stay in Spain and we really appreciated it. The owner also suggested a great wine place just down the street(we wanted to know about a place where we could purchase the Anjou) which we visited afterwards and had a terrific time. This is an excellent alternative to all the bars and tapas places in Madrid. Highly recommended!

Love Love Love Le Patron!!! I loved the International menu! It was in Spanish and in English if you weren’t sure what something was on the menu. To top it off, the owners/staff are so welcoming and friendly that you feel like you’re visiting a close friend or family. The atmosphere is warm and cozy as well. The food is fusion of many cuisines from around the world. My Spanish friend ordered 6 different Tapas. Every single thing tasted INCREDIBLE!!! We enjoyed every bite and had great conversations with people around us. On that night, there were bunch of tourists from England and we shared stories of our favorite TV shows, movies and actors. All in all, it was a pleasant night with a good crowd, fantastic staff and delicious food. It can get packed so there may be some wait and don’t expect to be in a quiet environment. But it’s all worth it!!!
