LA GLORIA CERVECERA.
Qué linda sorpresa este bar cervecero en el centro de Madrid. Sin dudas este es un lugar genial, con buena vibra, un ambiente copado y una decoración acorde al universo de la birra, desde las distintas botellas que hay por doquier hasta diferentes insignias y cosas de la bebida que más amamos en el mundo.
Lo que hace a este bar algo supremo es su catálogo de cervezas de todo el mundo, posta que en botella tiene una cantidad inmensa, en tanto que la gloria viene por las tiradas, ya que podes probar delicias belgas como la Kwak y la Chimay. Todo es una delicia, onda que te sentas en una de esas mesitas o en la barra y tenes la felicidad asegurada.
Otra cuestión genial de La Mayor es que la gente del lugar tiene muy buena onda y la atención es excelente, encima siempre con tu cerveza te traen algo para picar, ya sean papitas, maní o alguna que otra cosa más. En fin, volvería un millón de veces a este lugar, un paraíso sin lugar a dudas.

Great little bar with a MASSIVE beer selection. The paella and tostados were delicious. It feels a little like a dive bar with blues playing in the background and beer bottles stuck to the roof. Great atmosphere!

I guess they don’t have to try very hard given their location. They have a good selection of beer but I wouldn’t eat there again. This was the worst meal I had in a month of traveling around Spain. I will follow my own rules in the future and not go to a place with pictures of food outside, regardless of their Unilocal rating.

La Belgique à Madrid !
Bön OK y’a aussi l’Afrique, l’Espagne, les Pays Bas mais il faut avouer que ce sont les bières belges qui sont le mieux représentées à La Mayor. Le choix est bluffant, toutes mes bières préférées y sont, et c’est donc tout joyeux que je pars sur une Westmalle Triple (ce que né dit pas l’histoire c’est qu’après j’étais bien plus joyeux que ça !). Le prix tourne autour de 5 € pour la bouteille donc c’est carrément raisonnable.
Niveau nourriture rien d’exceptionnel j’ai pris l’assortiment de jambon/​fromage. C’était bon mais à 19 € la planche je m’attendais à un peu plus de contenu. C’était un peu léger et j’avais encore faim en sortant. Dommage !
Donc 4 étoiles pour le choix impressionnant de bières et le service plutôt sympa :)

The paella deal with 2 drinks and dessert is my favorite. Their collection of beers is very impressive, however do not get the «African beer». It is not beer and it is so not african. The food was delicious and service was impeccable

Después de visitar la Almudena y con el calor que hizo hoy, una cerveza en La Mayor.
Se pidió, una Alhambra 1925, 3,50 €. Heineken 2,80 € y pinta de Chimay triple 5,50 €.
Como se nota la zona y los precios suben. Caro no lo siguiente.

I love belgium beer, they have all my favorites plus some great local food and incredible value for money.
In the hot summer months it is a great refuge from the heat!

At the very end of Calle Mayor, you’re going to find a quaint corner shop. Inside lies one of my favorite places in Madrid, La Mayor. I went there twice during my stay in España.
This seems to be a place that caters to the locals, though there were a good amount of thirsty world travelers on one of the occasions I was there. I’m guessing it’s due to the proximity to the Palacio Real. Anyway, the beer selection here is VERY good given the size of their space. A few taps and a whole lot of bottled beer selections are the options here. I asked for a good local beer and was given a Cibelles lager — which hit the spot, given I’d been on my feet all day.
Their food menu is solid as well. I went big and had one of their entrees: pork covered in a chocolate chile sauce that closely resembles «molé» and potatoes. This was on-​the-​money Spanish comfort food.
As I sat at my booth by the window and watched people start to make their way out for the evening, I though to myself what a gem of a place this is. If you’re ever in Spain and doing the tourist thing near Calle Mayor or el Palacio Real, do yourself a favor and stop here. You’ll be glad you did.

Nice, unpretentious little place with a superb beer selection, even the ones on tap. We had the Kwak dark beer in the coolest glasses. We also tried the Lentils Rioja, probably the best lentils I’ve ever had!!! Made very traditionally but so delicious.
The crowd is also great, young people and older folks just having great conversations with a drink and friends.
Stop here if your in the area, for sure!

Basic cheap hot tapas and beer. Their calling card is bottled beer from all over the world. Friendly staff. Good in a rainstorm but nothing exceptional as an eatery.

I might be biased, but when you need a real beer in Madrid, and can’t stomach another Mahou or Estrella, etc… head to this place. You can find an incredible selection of Belgian and other styles of beers. If you’ve been living away from the US for a long time and don’t have Embassy friends to hook you up with Sam Adams, you can always get one here. It’s not big, but the atmosphere is great. It’s off the beaten path of Plaza Mayor but not too far and is within staggering distance.

Esa pinta de La Trappe bien merece repetir visita. Magnífica cervecería.

Esquina con la calle mayor y cerca de la Almudena, se encuentra este santuario dedicado a la cerveza. Cervezas nacionales y de importacion por doquier, ademas de tostas.

Mientras estudié en la Escuela de Letras, éste era el cuartel general de los profesores. Yo solía ir antes de las clases a tomarme algo con ellos (cuando aún estaban sobrios), por lo que le guardo cierto cariño a esta taberna.
Muchas cervezas, de todas las clases. El dueño, muy fan de la Formula 1, tiene colgadas unas cuantas fotografías en circuitos de karting con Fernando Alonso.
Muy socorrido para las cañejas del mediodía y para echar las tardes, si coges mesa. También hay tostas y raciones si la cosa se complica. En definitiva, un lugar a dos pasos de Sol en el que se está tranquilico.

No os voy a contar mi vida, pero durante aquella temporada en mi vida, en la que era guía y paseaba a adolescentes por las calles del Madrid Conventual y del Madrid de los Austrias… pues todo el mundo se paraba en el escaparate de este bar. por THE LEGENDARY DUFF BEER, si la de los Simpsons… la verdad es que todo el mundo se fija :)

Yo que sé, es que a mi me pones 10 tipos de cervezas diferentes y ya has fidelizado una clienta :)
El sitio está bastante guay, a mi en concreto deben odiarme por que lo utilizaba de parada del grupo para ir al baño, pero oye con la tontería también se hacía consumo: D
Definitivamente, un clásico de la Calle Mayor, si es que, en este bar además siempre salen conversaciones controvertidas, está enfrente del Corte Militar y entre la Duff y el El Corte militroncho, y las 70 cervezas diferentes, se pasa un rato estupendo jejeje
