We discovered this cute little place(cave) one night and ended up going back 3 times. Really cool place for tapas and drinks, the olives are amazing(everything we ordered was pretty much good).

Second time in Spain, and I remembered about this place. Their mushrooms are a must-try when you are in Madrid.

There are so many tourist spots in Madrid and we were on our way to try out the famous Botin oldest restaurant. We got there to check the menu and everything seemed too heavy so we walked up the street and found this little gem. The food was great and the atmosphere was lively. We of course had the famous mushroom dish as well as several other tapas. There was a man playing the keyboard that was entertaining and the environment was very cozy.

This is a food review. No self-indulgent ME generation facebook/twitter/whatever BS about my love life or the cute thing my dog did on the way to the restaurant. I don’t review often. I don’t work for Unilocal or an anti-Yelp competitor. I wonder if the rest of the«reviewers» on this restaurant can say the same after reading their 5 star ratings and then eating here. I had the mushrooms and the fried«ham-log» things. The ham-logs were not what I expected. I expected to taste some ham. Instead they were filled with a mushy, too creamy tasteless filling that would remind any American of canned Underwood Deviled Ham. The mushrooms were ok. Nothing to rave about. Similar to a sauteed mushroom app you could get at any average restaurant in America. Each mushroom had a piece of hard, salami like mystery meat in the middle of it. The best part was the glass of wine for $ 1.90.

I am a crazy mushroom lover and their mushroom plate is the best form of cooked mushrooms I’ve ever had. Its not to miss!

Mushrooms are tasty but Sangria was too strong and not refreshing. OK for a quick stop on the way somewhere else.

I have gone to this restaurant many times over the last ten years. It has never disappointed. Typically they are very busy I have had most everything they have to offer. Their oil and ham filled mushroom caps are to die for and worth the trip alone. Peppers well prepared and tasty sangria tops their offerings as well as fresh cured Spanish Jamon. Good light entertainment from the keyboard player and prompt service ensure my return to this restaurant every time I’m in Madrid.

Was recommended to this place by a friend… Was phenomenal!!! First off before I talk about the food, the atmosphere here was incredible. Although it was small and hectic, it felt quite cozy. There was live music being played. Lots of American classics that the entire place would sing along to. The restaurant was just vibrant and full of life. Now the food, they are known for their mushrooms so of course we got that. It was to die for! Full of flavor, absolutely pleasant for the taste buds! Next plate we got was the cheese and jamon which was pretty good. Apparently the pimientos del padron are pretty good but we didn’t try them:/ Overall this place is a must go if you are in Madrid!

Only had 1 night in Madrid and this was a really fun excursion. A friend took us here and it turned into a really fun night. Organ player playing all the fun sing along hits. You know, all the songs that you know the Chorus but can’t remember the rest until it comes back around. So funny. Everyone gets involved. Touristy, certainly. Guess what, didn’t matter. Just come in for the Craic! Food was good. The mushrooms were fantastic! Chorizo, Nam Nam Nam, lol. Sangria is one of the best. Go, Go, Go is all I can say. p. s. We did end up dancing with a few tables next to us. US, Spain, Japan & Germany represented this night.

Awesome mushrooms with chorizo, so much fun to watch him grill 100 at a time behind the window adjacent to the bar. Don’t forget your padrons, these peppers are fantastic, not very spicy, just flavorful, though they say you can run into a spicy one once in a while. With some crusty bread and sangria from the barrel? Yikes! Stick with these items and you can not go wrong. And yes, the little old guy with his mini keyboard that appears to be 60’s vintage(not the guy, the keyboard, the guy was spanish revolution vintage!), fantastique!

This review is specifically for the mushroom plate, late night — we walked in around 1ish with barely anyone else in there, ordered promptly and got some beers, and the mushrooms were out in 10 minutes. Fantastic dish — good for a «4th meal» type of bite before heading out.

We came here one night after getting a rec from a friend staying in Madrid. She mentioned we should go here before dinner for the mushrooms. We had lots of mushrooms and a bunch of other tapas. The mushrooms were deliciously awesome. The other tapas on the other hand were not so great. I kind of understand why we should have stuck to just the mushrooms. Theres also a really cute little old man who sings while you’re there. His louie armstong impersonation is amazing!
