Had a superb dinner at Fru Heiberg. Cozy French café setting in a popular neighborhood near the lakes. They offer a pris fixe three-course menu at 245Kr, which makes it excellent value for such an exquisite experience. There is a small, well chosen wine selection. Fru Heuberg is very popular, so reservation is a must. First course was an asparagus risotto with green peas and tarragon that was one of the creamiest, most delicious that I have had. It came with a garlic«croûton» that was more of a lavosh and freshly made. My husband had steak and I, roast duck. Both were served with browned new potatoes that are so wonderful during the summer in Denmark. The steak was nicely marbled, beautifully charred and topped with garlic butter, though it had a bit more rind than my husband prefers. The duck was nicely seasoned, crispy and succulent; and it was served with cucumbers in dill cream. We finished with a generous crème brûlée and a rhubarb custard that was outstanding. Dinner for two, with wine came to $ 700Kr, which seemed less than I would have paid for a comparable meal in Chicago(our hometown). And a special hats-off to our lovely server who pulled off a friendly and helpful service under intense pressure. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.

Fru Heiberg is a nice restaurant with a charming décor. I visited the place together with my wife and were not disappointed. Service at this place was top notch. It was polite, professional, yet on an appropriately casual level. Despite the server being alone, she did an outstanding job and not once did we have to wait for service longer than expected. Super! The food was above average. The beef bourgoigne was slightly dull, but the other courses were nice and well worth the money. The wine recommendations for the starters weren’t perfect, but with the main courses it really hit the spot. The place has offers for a 3-course menu, which I found to be appropriately priced. You can also add a coffee, avec and petit fours for a modest amount of money. Smart pricing I would say! Why this place is not marked as French cuisine escapes me. Can definitely recommend!
