The thing is that we have already tried other T.G.I Fridays in Europe and I strongly believe that they must improve the portions here in Copenhagen. When you pay 140 kr, for a nice burger, you expect also a nice portion. The famous Jack Daniel’s burger that we had yesterday was not value for money, also a little dry with no cheese in it and the meat was dry. The Oreo desert had on top something like… watery melted Nutella? I don’t have a clue. The potato skins were good but also very few for the large portion. So… yesterday we spent almost 500 kr for a dinner at Fridays and for the only thing that we were satisfied, was the nice and polite waitress.

I decided to go out of character and be one of those American tourists who go overseas and eat at an American chain restaurant. I started with the Chips & Salsa, Jalapeño Poppers, and the Sesame Jack Chicken Strips. I then ordered the California Club. The chips they used were corn tortilla chips. It is healthier but less tastier than the usual white tortilla chips that you get in the US. The serving size of both chips and particularly the salsa were very small even for me(see photo). The salsa tasted okay but I wished there was more. The cheddar jalapeño poppers and the fries that came with the California Club were okay but I suspect that they were sourced through a ready-made food company like Sysco. The poppers were not spicy at all. The Sesame Jack Chicken Strips tasted a lot better than they looked. They were also thinner than the typical American version, appearing more like chicken fries rather than chicken tenders. Fortunately, they were cooked nicely, i.e., not dry, but they could have used a bit more panko. The California Club was served on ciabatta bread instead of toast. But this worked out okay though it would probably be cheaper for the restaurant if they used toast. There was also a side of guacamole that was just plain awful. Someone went crazy with the lime juice so that basically killed the taste and the dish. Overall, it was a good experience coming here. My server was friendly and attentive and the food was okay. If you want a quick fix of American or Friday’s food, this version of Friday’s is close enough. For me, I would stick with my tried and true practice of solely dining on local cuisine whilst traveling.

Franchised Restaurants imply a level of standardization. «Thank God It’s Friday» is no exception. Actually it should be used as a textbook example. Based on your surrounding«local» alternatives, this is an expensive and mediocre place. And when those two adverbs are used in the same sentence, you know it can’t be good. If you’re going here, you’re depriving yourself of other excellent dining experiences you could have picked for yourself in downtown Copenhagen(See my other reviews for tips). I had Margarita Baked potato skins with the Artichoke Dip Original Ribs(with fries) Chicken Quesedillas The Margarita was pretty good. But it ain’t rocket science to make a decent one. The price was high considering the possibility of them putting«margarita mix» they ordered from the central TGIF warehouse in it. Their famous jacket potatoes are good and so is their famous artichoke dip. Fun little starter. Their Ribs were okay, and if you have a craving for ribs in downtown Copenhagne(And can’t deal with walking to Barbie) they’re an okay choice. The fries were soggy and mediocre. A waste of time. The Quesedilla reminded me of the ones I’ve had at Taco Bell, for 1⁄10 of the price here. The staff and waiters were really nice and cool, 5 stars here. I usually dine at these restaurants if I’m in a foreign country(or airport) and need something reliable(kinda like ordering Evian water at a restaurant in a third world country). But I can tell the foreigners reading this, that there is no need to choose this place, unless you really want TGIF. Go to Barbie if you want ribs and barbecue.

The new TGI Friday’s is great– much cleaner and fresher food than their American counterparts. They make their marinara sauce in house… By hand! What a concept! Great recommendation from the manager who recommended the Yucatan Chicken salad. Birthdays here are a hoot, complete with singing servers and a sparkler.

Good and friendly service. Pleasant atmosphere. My companions were happy enough with their meals. However, I had the salmon. Fairly dry and the vegetables(just rice and broccoli) were even more dry. All the portions were on the small side. Given the price that has to be paid, you come away feeling a bit disgruntled.

I ate there with a friend, since we have both tried TGI fridays before in other countries, and it has always been a good meal. Not this time. I got a very nice appetiser with chicken dipped in Pango crumbs, which was quite good. For main dish, I ordered a Burger and asked for it to be without cheese, as im lactose intollerant. It arrived almost completely cold. They offered a free beer as a compensation, and I ate the burger. When I was almost done, I noticed something on the meat, which looked a lot like cheese. I asked our waiter to find out if that was indeed cheese, and yes it was. So that ruined the rest of my evening, as I had to go home due to the lactose intolerance acting up. I hope this experience is only because of the restaurant being fairly new, but I dont think ill be eating there again.
