We waited for 20 minutes and weren’t served(there was only 1 waiter). Had to leave hungry :(

I was very suspicious about eating here, as it’s in a very touristy area and I expected it to be an expensive tourist trap with bad food. I was very wrong. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the plaice fillet with prawns and caviar, and my friend had the grilled salmon. We were both very happy with our choices, and the price was good for the value. The only downside is that the restaurant is small, and they have tables in tight spaces. The servers kept poking me to make me move while I was in the middle of my meal in order for them to pass. Now it’s not their fault as they are trying to do their jobs, but move the tables, instead of moving the customers repeatedly.

It’s not cheap(but it is in the heart of tourist town!), but actually the food was pretty good. I had the lunch menu and took the salmon platter which was really tasty, followed by beef bearnaise which was also very good. If you want to sit outside there are blankets if it’s a little chilly.

we came here with a smartbox in hand on a cold evening. even in the winter, i have to admit that nyhavn looks very nice. but to me this area is for looking, not for eating; it is mostly only tourists and older danes i’ve seen eating at the tables outside. my expectations aren’t very high for any restaurant sitting smack in the middle of a tourist zone, since businesses can charge pretty much whatever they want for whatever quality of food or drink to people who just want a place to sit and enjoy the view. heering was cozy, but a little too cozy; the tables are placed close together to squeeze more bodies in. anyway the wine was good and so was the bread. due to the smartbox, we were limited to a set appetizer and main course. the salmon tartare came out very quickly and was pleasant with the textures of raw, smoked, and cooked salmon. it came with a dollop of sour cream and a generous slice of lemon, just enough for me. the osso buco and butternut-potato mash were a sadly under-seasoned and needed several grinds of salt.(though you may think americans eat very salty food [and are fat, own guns, etc.] i can tell you this one does not.) the meat was tender and the mash was good. maybe it is for the tourists’ sakes but the portion was HUGE. i appreciate getting the most bang for my buck, but i couldn’t finish and the plate probably would have looked better with less. it was a far cry from awful but i probably would not come back; there are just too many nice places to eat in copenhagen. but if you are at nyhavn and starving, i’d suggest you try damindra or tango y vinos. if the weather is nice or you are on a budget, get a box or two from thai asien take away and sit, dangling your legs over the edge of the canal.

Kann Harry Hendl nur zustimmen, phantastische Gulaschsuppe und leckere Heringe auf Körnerbrot! Dazu garniert mit sehr reizenden, leider verpeilten, Bedienungen. Jederzeit wieder

We were a bit leery about eating in Nyhavn, a notorious tourist area, but we made sure to look for middle-aged people having beer and schnapps before noon. Sure enough, we picked a winner. We went with traditional Danish fare of smørrebrød and were not disappointed. As William mentions, it’s not cheap, but the great food, fine Danish beer, pretty scenery, and people-watching are worth it.

A canal-side outdoor/indoor café in one of the most picturesque locales in Copenhagen. Google«nyhavn«for a picture of the area. A marvelous place for lunch or coffee or dinner. The golden lobster soup is almost a spiritual experience and the rest of their fare is just as good. When it’s cold they have warmed blankets at each outdoor table. Pricey, but more than worth every kroner– once.
