Not bad — not great. Worth a try and I’ll be going back since it’s close by to my office.

For a city in Southeast Asia, it sure is hard to find a decent Vietnamese and phở spot. While strolling down Chinatown’s food row one evening. I discovered a Vietnamese restaurant nestled away in the middle of a ton of touted Chinese restaurants. Seeing as this Vietnamese place didn’t have a touter outside trying to win your business, I decided this was probably a safe bet. I had been craving good phở for a while, and was surprised after my move how absent phở was in this city. With its proximity to Vietnam, I thought there’d be more options. I didn’t realize how spoiled I was with phở options in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. I ventured in and placed my phở order, and in no time, a steaming hot bowl of soup was in front of me. After adding chili sauce and the many other condiments, I dived right in. I was pleasantly surprised how good the broth was. Every slurp and gulp was enjoyable, and the meat that sat in the soup tasted good as well. The price was reasonable as well. The owner told me that they had another location in Geylang that was better, so I’ll have to go out there, dodge the street walkers and locate this other location. If you’re in the mood for Phở, I definitely recommend this place in Chinatown.

Dropped in yesterday for lunch as we were looking for something a bit different in Chinatown. Ordered up the Summer Rolls($ 3.50) which were very fantastic and went so well with the peanut sauce and the chili sauce. Then had the Beef stew($ 6.50) which was similarly excellent. Surprised by the amount of beef in this dish, they did not skimp — amazing for the price. The décor is a bit skimpy, feels like a school cafeteria as it so bright. The service is slow, while the food is great, you should not have to wait so long for it. Lastly, ditch the charging for tissues, if you put it in front of me without me asking, I should not have to pay 30c for it.
