The place has gone through a change and is now having a bigger dine in area. But no more view of the koi ponds. In celebrating 20 ribvolutionary years in Singapore, the restaurant is having a promotion of having either of the 2 anniversary entrée with a bowl of soup for just $ 20++. One could enjoy this promotion by showing the voucher which is available from facebook. Although it is only 2 of us dining, we are shown to a comfortable booth table. We are served some bread with butter. The bread is soft and is quite delicious with the garlicky butter. Mushroom Soup($ 6.90++ usual) The soup is quite rich and creamy with lots of mushroom slices in it. French Onion Soup($ 6.90++ usual) The soup is topped with a rich layer of melted cheese. Rich broth with caramlised onions in it. Signature Trio($ 20++) Baby Back Ribs, Southwestern Chicken and Onions Rings served with 2 choices of side dish. I have selected mashed potatoes and coleslaw as side dishes. The mashed potatoes is topped with savoury bacon bites and has chunky soft potatoes in it. It is the real deal, unlike some restaurants which makes mashed potatoes with powder form. The rib is tender and juicy, as well as the chicken. Anniversary Trio($ 20++) Baby back ribs, fish fillet and mozzarella sticks served with salad mix and a side dish Here I have selected broccoli as the side dish. It is best to eat the mozzarella sticks while they are still hot, because you will find that the cheese can stretch to a very long distance. Total bill is $ 47.10. Overall the serving is quite huge and the two of us cannot finish it even thought we are both very hungry when we start eating. Although the place is packed, iced water is refilled regularly.

It was the husband’s birthday, so I gave him the privilege of choosing wherever he wanted to eat(without me disagreeing and making a huge fuss about it.) Since we were in the Suntec area to run an errand, he decided on his favourite Tony Roma’s for a late lunch. Walking in, I was a bit surprised I was going in to a Tony Roma’s. It’s definitely been a while since I’ve been to an outlet. I didn’t realize they rebranded and that they relocated their Orchard Hotel outlet to Orchard Central at the end of last year. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to feel. Although the old outlet in Orchard was dated, it had this ‘90s American feel and pictures of the original Tony Roma’s that really communicated what the brand was all about. However, the Suntec outlet had Mark Rothko prints for their artwork. I like and appreciate abstract expressionist art as much as the next person, but it just wasn’t communicating ribs and steak realness, ya dig? But I digress. I was surprisingly not hungry so I settled for the Sonoma salad. At $ 16.90, I wasn’t expecting much, but I was surprised that the portion was enough to feed two! I really couldn’t finish it on my own. Miguel ordered his usual original baby back ribs with 2 sides of rice, and was quite satisfied with the result. Since we went during an off peak time, service was good and we got our food quickly. Everything came out as expected, with no surprises. It’s definitely on the pricier end for a meal, but for decent ribs and a taste of home, it’s a good once-in-a-while type of place.

Always a must have meal whenever i visit Singapore. The amazing thing about tony romas is the consistency of the cooking. Ordered full slab of original baby back ribs, corn, baked potato and side caesar salad for starter. The yellow rice is out today but if you are a rice fan you should try it.

Suntec City is currently undergoing renovation, and Tony Roma’s moved from one location into Suntec to another. The original location had the Tony Roma’s ambience with wooden décor, exactly what you see in the U.S. The new location must have been done in a rush or cheaply, because it looks like the inside of a Chinese restaurant, with wood tables. So the ambience is a bit cheesy. But the food is very American. I usually get a slab of the ribs. There are a lot of sides to choose from, and the service is nice enough that if a sandwich is to come with fries, you can substitute it with another side no problem. Prices are $ 30SGD per person, which is pretty good because you leave very full of meat.
