Who would have thought that hidden away on the 2^nd level of Snow City is this cosy and laidback restaurant and microbrewery. Yes, your eyes are not deceiving. We actually have a microbrewery in our western heartlands. If you are expecting Paulaner or Brewerz, go away. This is your friendly neighbourhood drinking hole.
So hows the beer? What catches one’s attention is a green beer. GREEN. Yes, incredible hulk green. Brewed with seaweed barley malt. The rest are your standard lagers, weizen and dark beers. Nothing fancy, but thirst quenching nonetheless.
The food reminds me of a typical street side warung in Indonesia which incidentally is where the owners hail from. I understand Fresh Beer is a popular microbrewery there. Did not get the opportunity to try everything but the fish & chips was pretty decent. And the Indonesian fried noodles was instant noodle fried to perfection just like the street stalls.
I give them a big 4 stars because sometimes we need an unpretentious no frills place to enjoy booze, grub and company. Forget to mention, the outdoor area will keep the smokers happy and the view of the Jurong Lake district means decent sunsets.
