Sidewalk Tavern

Food is relatively good. Decent steaks & sides. Overpriced for a place like this eg. I was charged 3 dollars for a sunny side up to go with my main. Other items were pricey as well if you compare it with a similar restaurant. Ambience is cool as well, kind of the sports bar concept.

What a sad little place this is, average in every respect in my opinion, I had the Steak and Guinness pie which gave me food poisoning and my friend had the lasagne which looked like it was straight out of the packet, which it probably was, the service was ok, prices were cheap enough I guess, I’ll never go back there myself, but enjoy!

this is my goto when i’m too lazy to travel and want a consistently good steak without shelling out too much. they have a range of cuts, but i usually go for the rump steak ($ 29.90), which is a little less fatty than the rib-​eye. i’ve tried a few of the non-​steak items but wasn’t impressed, so i don’t really recommend the mains if you don’t eat beef.
they have an extensive list of drinks, with a pretty decent happy hour to boot, so it’s basically the kind of place you go to if you want to watch some kind of sporting event in public and stay very, very lush.

Good ambience/​atmosphere, solid food. Great neighborhood type of pub. Very good service also. Worth a try if you’re around that area.

Good food and drinks. Nice atmosphere. Eclectic crowd and music to go with it… Including families, drinking buddies, couples, etc. Sports on the Tv. Good if you just want to have few drinks and catch up on some reading, bring you family and friends for a meal, or anything in-​between. Something for everyone. Outdoor dining is available, but will have to bare the noise of the traffic. Overall, you won’t go wrong.

Two words — Sunday roast.
They’ve got a sandwich board out front every Sunday with those two magic words, and every week I drive by, bothered only by the still, small voice in my head that mutters «eh they got Sunday roast leh», while trying not to acknowledge it when it then asks, «eh actually what is Sunday roast ah?»
In my head (thanks to many Googled pictures), Sunday roast is this glorious slab of beef/​lamb with a lovely accompaniment of roasted vegetables, all coated in a lovely brown sauce. So simple, so yum. And as we sat to order, I had but that one picture in my head. This roast, thankfully, did not disappoint in this respect, and tasted pretty damn good.
My gripe — my $ 18 roast lamb plate had three, maybe four slices of meat? I finished this plate wayyy to quickly, and though a refill option was available for $ 7, I wasn’t sure how much that would get me.
While I wonder where else I can get Sunday roast here, I guess theis place will have to do — and it’s a pretty decent option!

The sidewalk tavern is a restaurant that serves a refreshing mix of the most popular Asian and Western dishes.
The service here was prompt and attentive, and after making our order, we managed to get our food fairly quickly. We ordered the cream of mushroom soup, salt and pepper squid, baby back ribs and marshmellow parlova.
I was rather satisfied with the starter of the cream of mushroom soup as it was very creamy and delicious. This led on to the salt and pepper squid, which had an excellent texture and was chewy. The star of the show is no doubt the baby back ribs, which is basically a slab of ribs marinated in barbequed sauce. The baby back ribs were grilled to the right degree and the meat was very succulent and tender.
As for desserts, we had the marshmellow parlova, which was soft and melted in the mouth.
Overall, this is an excellent place to get a good meal and I would highly recommend it.

Situated in East Singapore, at the bustling stretch of Siglap, Sidewalk Tavern is an alfresco concept restaurant that is suitable for group dining and unwinding after a long day at work. It is a small and quaint restaurant, sandwiched between a tiny coffee shop and a Khmer eatery. This restaurant serves a good mix of a large menu of Western and Asian dishes coupled with an extensive selection of beer, wine and spirits, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
One of the most popular main courses there would be the L’Entrecôte, good quality tenderloin with a thick butter, and cream and mustard sauce with a tangy aftertaste. Another favorite is the Baby Back Ribs, which is a large slab of ribs marinated in barbeque sauce. The ribs were grilled to perfection, till tender and juicy. Finally, finish off with the Apple Crumble, which sweetness is pleasantly balanced with the slightly sourness of the apples.

There’s all day breakfast, which served as a draw. English style comes with two eggs, sausage, bacon, shrooms, grilled tomato, baked beans and toast. American style is much like the above, except there’s steak in place of sausage, and the absence of shrooms. While I was pleased at the spread, a marauding baby cockroach invaded our brunch as it skittered across the table.
The wait staff squished it with a piece of serviette and said it might have come from outside. Right. No service recovery whatsoever. Will I be back? Unlikely.

Run by a lovely English-​Singaporean couple, the bar’s selection of standard lagers and Archipelago offers keep most people happy; this spot is great for people-​watching in the heart of Siglap and all it holds. It isn’t the cheapest you can find, but if you’re willing to pay a couple of dollars more for great music, ambiance and service, this is the spot you’re looking for.
It gets even better when it rains; Sidewalk Tavern has a cosy feel that much of Siglap has lost in its quest to be the Holland Village of the East.
The food started out excellently but has since decreased in quality. If you’re looking for food, however, Siglap has plenty more places for less $ and more taste. If you’re at the Tavern, it’s the atmosphere and beer you’re here for.
Basically, skip the food and go for drinks. It’s a great place for a date or to bring friends/​family to!
