Shin Gi Tai

Shin Gi Tai is an exceptional classic cocktail bar found a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of Bugis (a pleasant few blocks walk from Bugis station).
Anthony, the head bartender, has trained in Japan and applies the Japanese attention to detail to his Craft. His passion for service as well as cocktails is evident and I would say unmatched in my exploration of Singapore thus far. Definitely recommend this place!

Shin Gi Tai is a cosy craft cocktail bar hidden away at 51 Waterloo Street. Just look for the very large 51 on the front of the building and head down the rabbit hole below it. Wonders await! Behind the doors of #01−04 is a small cocktail bar ideal for the gathering of friends. In this space, Anthony spoils his guests with his interpretation of classic cocktails. The cocktails are incredible!
The bar has only been open for a few months. Unlike other similar cocktail bars, you won’t find any flaming drinks or cocktails garnished with rubber duckies. No gimmicks here. Shin Gi Tai is in a class of its own. Hands down the best gin martini I have ever had. Not sure how he does it, but I am a fan!
They say they are developing the food menu. We sampled the Chicken Wings, Bangers and Mash, and the Fried Calamari. Let me tell you about the Calamari! I normally loathe this chewy, flavorless, choice for an appetizer. Here at Shin Gi Tai, the chef has taken fried Calamari to the next level. Using Sambal chilis, he has created something that is perfectly prepared and as equally crave worthy as 28 Hong Kong Street’s legendary Truffle Mac & Cheese Balls. (Blasphemy!) Our group of 5 ordered 4 servings of this simple and flavorful dish.
The Good: The cocktails, the service, the cosy bar, the calamari
The Bad: It’s hidden away at 51 Waterloo Street #01−04. Not hard to find if you know where to look. Looking forward to seeing an expanded tapas menu.
The Verdict: Impeccably prepared cocktails (OMG!). I highly recommend Shin Gi Tai for your next happy hour. Also perfectly romantic for a date night cocktail before or after dinner!
