This Muslim-owned bistro has moved from its original location from Bali Lane to a spacier lot at Telok Ayer. Located right across the historic Thiam Hock Keng temple, along a cram street… you should be able to spot it. Perhaps this place is just too new as it just opened for service mid last month; hence word of mouth is still not spread around much. It was lunch time and the place was still quite vacant. Only two tables were occupied; one was the owners and probably their acquaintances. Regretted being so paranoid of taking the trouble of reserving a table. It was only about 1pm++ did we notice more and more people coming in, but there were still a lot of tables available. We were a group of 4 colleagues, lunching out together. Most of the food ordered were shared, just so we could have a bite of everything purchased. Opinions shared amongst us obviously varied. And oh! Do note that not all the photos posted here were taken by me. Haha! We shared our snaps. *giggles* We got ourselves ‘Nacho Lover’, ‘Fried Mushroom’, ‘Crispy Wings’ and ‘Signature Prawn & Crayfish Pasta’. For drinks and desserts, we ordered ‘Mango Crème Brulee’, ‘Affogato’, ‘Iced Lemon Tea’ and… ‘Halal Champagne’. Yes, you read right. ‘Halal Champagne’: non-alcoholic. They even have ‘Halal Red Wine’. Two of us have never touched alcohol before, so we asked one who had and she confirmed that the taste was exactly the same as a genuine champagne. It tasted like an extreme Apple Zapple to me. *shrugs* Nachos were served with 3 different dips: cheese sauce, salsa and guacamole. Okay! Not too overpowering. Fried truffle mushrooms were a bit too soft to our liking. Then again, I dislike mushrooms. The pasta was nice but those chicken wings… Wow! Loved them! We didn’t share the Affogato though. But my colleague who got it did say it was good. Coming to the crème brûlée though, I’ve tasted Chempedak and even Durian flavoured ones before, but this was the first time I had a Mango flavoured crème brûlée. I absolutely loved it. My colleague however found it too sweet… Oh well! I have a sweet tooth. Hence the reason why I guess my Iced Lemon Tea was a bit too bland. Oh! Getting here is best via public transport. We took a cab here. Parking is almost impossible in this area. Most did illegal parking. Even then, there were no more spots.
