There aren’t many places that I tend to return to in Singapore but Plank is definitely one I head to the moment I crave Pizza. Let’s start off by stating that they use SOURDOUGH to make their pizzas. CAMON! How many places would take the effort? Making Sourdough is a long process but the end result is always amazing for a real bread lover &MAN do I love bread. It’s a little hard to get to and parking can be a pain but in all honesty this place is worth it. Make a reservation because it’s usually packed for dinner. Start off the the Garlic bread and you know you’re in for a good meal. Remember garlic bread? How you used to eat them like crazy when you were a kid? I wonder why don’t restaurants make them anymore because it’s always a great start that everyone would love. Their pizzas are all made with pretty interesting and delicious combinations. I personally love the mushrooms & truffle oil combination but they also have eggplant, olives and chorizo and even dessert pizza’s too! Fantastic place if you’re craving pizzas. Great for the family and friends and they are connected to Baker & Cook so you can buy a bread, cake or grab a coffee on your way out!

I found this place when I was cycling to meet a friend at Baker & Cook(sister outlet which is attached to it). As someone who has made many pizzas in his lifetime(several thousand!), I wanted to give it a try. I love the location — in the middle of nowhere(residential estate) and next to a park connector(my ‘hood!). This is the ideal place for«ladies who lunch» and dog walkers and families after going to the nearby park. The funky lights and the brightly coloured walls and tables made of «planks» were great. It has a fresh, fun, friendly feel to it which is good. The service is a little lacking — several minutes pass without seeing anyone and the numbers are on the menu for a reason — do not stray from them! The pizza was good — a little pricey for the 11″ you get, however the base is really good. I love the crispness after being cooked on a stone-bottommed oven. It was perfectly coloured and the sourdough used gave it a good full flavour. I would have liked to have had more tomato sauce — it was not quite rich enough for me and of course a little fresh black pepper and oregano would really perk it up. The rocket was good with a fresh and peppery flavour and the ham tasty, although a little dry in some places. The cheese on the pizza was good and had a great texture. I am can also order items from Baker & Cook next door which is a nice little café. Not the best, but pretty OK.

Though a little pricier their pizza is nice. They do take great care to get the dough just right. Ambience is a good family casual set up but today is a take away.
