Was pleasantly surprised when i had dinner there with 2 other friends. The selection was adequate and quite satisfying if you are not a big eater. My favorite was their roast meat platter — delicious tender char siew and roast duck. The laksa reminded me of katong laksa though its soup wasnt as rich. There’s also wanton noodles, sliced fish noodles and szehuan noodles for your choosing. Dim Sum was so so and nothin much to rave about. There’s also a pizza and salad bar if you prefer western to local. I had the frutti di mare and roast duck with lychee pizza. The latter was a tad too sweet for me but my friend liked it just fine. The dessert selection wasn’t too shabby and I enjoyed the durian pengyat, berry cobbler and bread pudding very much. Pretty good deal to go for when you get one free with 2 paying adults.

One word: fancyprofessional ;) Yes. I did it like outcast’s speakerboxx… The hospitality of the staff here is phenomenal. Food: very good. Simple but nice, clean presentation. Enough options but not so many that your head is spinning. The American style food? No. Don’t go there. You’ll be disappointed. And it’s okay, it isn’t supposed to be Singapore’s forte. When in Rome, do as the Romans do… Partake only in their specialty cuisines. And their service is excellent. Dude, tips on top of that 10% &7% tax base!

this review is done using maslow’s hierarchy of needs: Assistant restaurant manager, Simon Jacob was empowered to ensure a proper service recovery. He gave 1 free buffet, extra 30% discount, a complimentary lava cake and free parking! Self-actualization _______________________________________________________________ Bar one, the staff here treats you with respect. The non-compliant staff, disappeared thereafter. Esteem _______________________________________________________________ A nice place to bond for families, friends and even couples, as they are neither a crazily crowded nor an obnoxiously noisy buffet. Love/belonging _______________________________________________________________
A clumsy staff attempted to serve a HOT bowl of noodles by leaning and stretching over the opposite end of the table! No scalding injuries, but clearly an unpleasant mess, to say the least. Safety _______________________________________________________________
4 live cooking stations = wait but food not cooked to death! From roast meats, dim sum, noodles, claypot rice to pizzas. Tasty tasting portions that allow you to try more and not get stuffed. Bak kwa pizza: cheese, bak kwa, pork floss and mayo on thin crust! Lap mei fan was a crispy blackened mix of sausages, rice in a claypot. Dessert from ice cream, fruits to red bean soup. But the durian mousse, is it! Physiological _______________________________________________________________

Open House is the buffet restaurant at the recently launched Grand Park Orchard, also known as the hotel with the Knightsbridge /Abercromie and Fitch. Located next to the hotel’s swishy rooftop bar near the fourth floor lobby, Open House looks like it should have a lot going for it. It’s a buffet with a large variety of cuisines, served a la minute rather than in a typical self-service buffet line. The service is decent. The place looks nice. There’s a view of Orchard. It’s very, very decently priced especially for this area and for a hotel of this class. Yet it’s let down by the food, which tries hard but doesn’t quite do it for me. The main types of food are dimsum, roast meats, claypot rice, pizza, noodles, dessert, also sushi and salads and even local dishes like mee siam and laksa. The problem with this type of food, when an international hotel tries to do it, is that the food tends to be watered down or modified for foreigners. So while it tastes okay, and in quite good and I didn’t dislike anything, it also isn’t anything special. Still, for the price you can’t complain, I guess.
