«Moo» means pork, «Kata» means skillet. Originated from Chiang Mai, it uses pork lard instead of the usual oil or butter. A combination of a Korean BBQ and Chinese Hot pot. We ordered a set of 4 that consists of a combination of meat and seafood. Quality of meat and service is better than other mookata places I’ve been, especially when you can eat comfortably in an air conditioned environment. Set for 2: $ 34.90 Set for 4: $ 68.90 Meat Lover’s Platter: $ 74.90 Seafood Catches: $ 54.90

This is 3.5 stars for me, but I will round up to 4 because the staff are nice! I’m very new to the Thai BBQ scene. In fact, I never realised that«mookata» loosely translates to «pork skillet» in Thai(at least, this is what a light search on the interwebs tells me.) In a way, the mookata style kills two birds in one stone, as the grill is part BBQ, part steamboat. I’m more of a griller than a soup person, so I just stuck to the grilling part. Since the grill is dome-shaped, I found it a bit difficult to operate because my food would always slide down and end up in the soup! But this is truly a first world problem. We ordered a mix of beef, chicken, pork, and mushrooms(wrapped in bacon since it’s a lot healthier that way.) I’m not sure how it was seasoned, but whatever they put in there made the meats taste pretty good. Add in the 3 dipping sauces(ranging from mild to Thai chilli hawt) and all was well with the world. We came here for a late lunch, so there weren’t too many people there and the staff was very quick to come out with everything. I wouldn’t mind coming back here and perfecting my Thai grilling skills, especially since I’ll be living nearby now!
