Jang Shou BBQ is a Korean-run bbq that serves authentic Korean food. At $ 40 per pax(after GST), it does seem to be a bit pricey. What is nice though is that they serve a wide variety of Korean food, from the raw meats to cooked food, there is no shortage of food. They serve beef, pork and chicken in a variety of marinates. I especially enjoyed their samgyeopsal(bbq pork belly). While their cooked food does seem to have normal fare(chicken sausages, fishballs), they serve Korean style pancake and sweet and sour pork. In addition, they use electric grills in their airconditioned place, so there is minimal smoke and smell in the restaurant. It is nearly packed with customers so reservation is required(unless you are exceptionally lucky). It is located at the 2nd level, above a Japanese restaurant and might be difficult to find. However, one can park directly at the carpark next to the building. Finally, upon paying for the bill, they present one with a coupon on the receipt to redeem for free parking on the next visit.

Here’s one korean BBQ that may not be the cheapest, but definitely most value in the service and quality of the food available, even on weekdays. The pork ribs with olive oil and honey(Jang SHou Galbi) is one of the highlights of my experience. The taste is sweet and fresh and you cans till taste the pork instead of having it drowned in marinade. The service is prompt where people remove unwanted plates as soon as you are done. They also timely wipe your grill down to remove charred bits, and it sure helped to keep going and grilling without having to keep signaling for the alumnium foil to be changed. If you are hoping not to smell, then it’s a loss cause. Still this is something I am prepared for at any korean bbq restaurants, unless you can going to a very high end option with people barbecuing your meats. The lettuce here is fresh, with no rotting pieces that you have to fish out yourself, which can be rather distasteful. I do enjoy the sugar coated yam and the thin slices of pineapple that i put on the grill to refresh the palates when you’ve had too much meat in one go. The condiments are great as well with a good spread of 6 – 8 varieties.
