Rice was either under cooked or they use bad quality rice. Their dark sauce tastes of duck fats, not really what I would want on my char siew rice. I also ordered their roast duck rice which came with a dubious fried chicken wing part, was informed by the lady it is bonus. Oh really? I could see there were only a measly portion of duck meat. Perhaps you ran out of duck meat and didn’t want to cut up another whole duck to just to make up for the short number. I would feel better if you had admitted instead of telling me it is a bonus and that I have to thank you for. Duck rice for $ 5 and char siew rice for $ 3.50, makes me feel sorry for the many other good genuine stalls that serve real authentic roast meat rice at lesser price. Simply overhyped, maybe it was good, but definitely not anymore

While the avocado wars break out, the stall just two doors down slowly accumulate a queue of their own every lunchtime. Here you’ll find some of the best roast pork in Singapore. I dare to lay this claim because I feel that I’ve been around the country hunting down every shop that dares lay this claim, and found few worthy. Apart from the keong saik wanton mee shop and the one at dawson’s place, I dare say that this comes third in my books for how tender it is, how well marinated it is, and how good the gravy is. That for me is the one edge that this shop has over the others — they do a delicious rice to gravy pairing — very very well cooked soft rice with brilliant gravy. The portions can be slightly small, so I usually get a portion of crispy pork as well, which is unfortunately also sliced in rather thin pieces. But the crispiness is worth it! So I probably wouldn’t even think twice.
