This is my first time here on the recommendation of a friend. Nice décor. Love the rough(slate?) floor. Noisy Must reserve; fully booked. Tea not hot. For the life of me, I just cannot understand this. Chawanmushi — good — prawn and tender chicken Kobe beef with ponzu sauce, steak sauce and salt — Served at room temperature; Unforgivable at S$ 175 for 100 gm. Somen noodle — good Udon — good Mixed tempura prawns and vegetables — good Tuna cheek — don’t like this Dried overnight mackerel — okay, not great After we finished everything then the staff offered to change plates. Coke took forever to be served. I totally disagree with hot food or hot drinks that are served at room temperature.

If you’re craving a wonderful yet reasonably priced upscale Japanese lunch, don’t even think about it — just COMEHERE. For $ 22 you can get a beautiful lunch set of fresh fish of a unmistakably higher quality than your average Japanese chain. These assorted dons come with salad, soup, and a nice little dessert too. Other lunch set options rise quickly in price — up to $ 88(!) — but after my lunch today, I’m sure they’re worth it. A la carte also available for lunch but you have to ask for the menu. Drop your Sushi Tei/Itacho plans. Your search for lunch is over. You’re welcome.

This is the 2nd outlet in Singapore and being in Ngee Ann City, it is way more convenient than the first restaurant in Robertson Quay area. It is quite a big place with more dining area at the back. There is even a teppanyaki room behind where the chef also uses the place to cook the meat for other dishes. During lunch time, it seemed like the teppanyaki menu is not available as we were not given that. Kobe and wagyu beef seemed to be the specialty here too with a plaque proudly stating they serve Kobe beef at the entrance. I usually have the chirashi don but when I was seated in the teppanyaki room, the fragrant smell of sizzling meat just made me want some meat and not raw fish. I had the grade 5 wagyu hash beef lunch set. I was wondering what hash meant and it turned out to be a beef stew like dish on rice. It was really good. My friends had the assorted tempura lunch set which looked very appetizing. They said it was good and they would dine here again. The quality of the sashimi for the chirashi don was really good. It may not look like much but it will fill you up. Grab a seat at the main counter if it is just 1 – 2 diners as it is quite a treat to watch the chefs prepare or grill the food. Uni is very fresh too as the chef will open it in front of you and scoop out the meat before plating it. You can also choose your own fish or seafood. Reservations is a MUST as it is very popular with the Japanese expat ladies as well as businessmen and others who work in the area. Lunch sets are affordable starting from $ 22. Dinner and ala carte will be at much higher prices.
