Fresh+ is… pretty good, but after I finished my meal, what stuck in my mind the most was«Meh. I’ve had better.» And while that fits the 2 star rating exactly, this is one of those moments when I really do wish Unilocal offered half star ratings so I’m just going to round it up. The portions are generous, the pricing reasonable, and from what I had, it’s just as advertised: FRESH! I just wasn’t really impressed with the selection of ingredients on offer. Personally I much prefer The Salad Shop( ) which is within relative walking distance. Fresh+ is admittedly cheaper, but I just can’t help but compare the two, and here, there’s less flexibility with your base(it’s always lettuce), the dressings aren’t quite as good, and there’s a smaller selection in general. So while definitely worth heading down to if you’re along this side of Robinson Road/Cecil Street(and much better than Sumo Salad in my opinion), I’ll make the longer walk to The Salad Shop for my salad fix.

If there’s one full-starred review I’m going to make in my lifetime, it has to be Fresh+. This bar is amazing and I cannot say anything bad about it. Really. Ok maybe the long queues at lunch and difficulty finding seating, but that’s endemic of all places in the CBD. Here’s why Fresh+ is awesome: 1) Value for money & big servings of high quality toppings — Fresh+ lets you pick 6 «free» toppings for pick-and-mix and that comes at $ 6.80 for a «Half Size» bowl that is quite big for Asian standards and a «Regular» bowl for $ 9.50. The free toppings are high quality foods like French kidney beans, mini asparagus, beetroot, squash, free range hard boiled eggs and best of all, TUNA. The only other place that offers a non-veg protein on the«free» toppings is Salads and Wraps but they offer you only a small scoop. Depending on the right server, you can get pretty darn huge servings. 2) Homemade dressings — I am madly in love with the honey mustard dressing. You can see the mustard seeds floating in the dressing. That’s how authentic it is. Tried a yoghurt based Caesar that was a little too mild and sour. But who cares when you have fresh honey mustard. 3) Service with a smile — I have never walked down the Fresh+ salad bar line and not felt happy after placing my order. Everyone who works there looks happy, even if they’re stressed by the lunch crowd. You’re addressed politely and people smile here. When the Chinese cashier man takes your money he says please and smiles when he returns your change. True story, when I had one more chop to go on my card for a free salad he exclaimed, «you have ONEMORE chop to go!» How can rare, good service not make you smile? 4) Free water — ask and you receive a glass of free tap water with ice. And they hurry to get you a glass, not sulk and argue about«hygiene issues» and other nonsense. I think that’s all I can rave in a short review. If you work in the CBD and you want a healthy lunch at a very reasonable price, go eat at Fresh+.
