is singapore really the most expensive city in the world? the jury is still out. but if, for any reason, you are feeling the money crunch, do drop by duke bakery. cheap is good but free is better! their free sampling, that is. very, very generous indeed! no dirty looks whatsoever from their staff and constantly refilled. just sample all you want, leave empty handed, if you want but mostly full bellied! but, i am sure, you will be unable to resist picking up something. i mean, just check out their wide selection of freshly baked artisan bread throughout the day, see posted schedule within for precise timings of the day. there is definitely something for everyone, be it sweet or savoury, they have it. unique tastes, innovative combos, mostly light yet classic bakes. having just celebrated their first anniversary and with a new outlet opening in thomson plaza, it looks like their formula works. do look out for their free lifetime membership, that entitles you to a 10% discount, currently being given out at their new thomson outlet. for $ 5 or less or none at all, this is a cheap, sometimes free but definitely good dukedom to maintain!

The shop has very generous samplings which might fill up many hungry stomatch by just trying them arpund by 1 round. The breads are chewy and delicous, a bit big in terms of size compared to those in other bread stores but believe me, you will keep eating piece by piece until you finish the bread all(like me). My favorites are the cheese chocolate bread and okinawa brown bread.

The Chocola Cheese bread was delicious! it was soft and chewy and i couldn’t stop myself from wanting more. Ingredients are Wheat Levain, Grape ferment, coffee extract, black bean, chocolate, cocoa powder and cream cheese. wonderfully crafted loaf of bread.
