Brotzeit Westgate

I brought my mom for lunch and we ordered an onion soup, pork knuckle and mozzarella salad. The onion soup tasted too watery and was very disappointing. The pork knuckle and mozzarella salad were vast improvements though the sauerkraut didn’t taste as good as the last time I visited. I highly recommend the salad for its generous ingredients. The portions were also very big — to the extent I had to clarify if they served me a large salad instead of the regular I ordered. The meal cost $ 71 for 2 persons.
Service today was very good — though I wish they would come by less frequently to check if all is well (we had 4 different waitstaff check on us in the course of our meal). We were served by Jonathan who looks like a kid but provides terrific service. Thanks Jonathan!

The service here is consistently bad. Just tonight, the weirdest thing happened. They accidentally undercharged my credit card by 2 cents. So then they came back to me and asked for the money. That they even cared about 2 cents was so odd, and that they thought it was appropriate to bother me about it was even more odd. So, we gave them 10 cents, expecting change. We waited and waited, but they never came back with our change. Of course, we didn’t care about the 8 cents change, but it was crazy – Why were they so insistent on me paying 2 cents, but not at all concerned about returning my money?! These people have no clue what they are doing.

Delicious home style food. Tasted like my grandma’s cooking. Definitely filled my «home cooked food» void while on vacation in Singapore.

Brotzeit has a good traditional menu of German sausages, Rosti, schnitzels, etc. This West Gate outlet is fairly new, has pleasant outdoor seating with a nice breeze and a calm and spacious environment. The food is cooked fresh and tastes good.
The service, unfortunately, is poor at this outlet. On this particular Sunday, not busy at all, the waitresses seem uninterested to serve, and the only way of getting an order in is to actually stand up and go over to the bar and ask for it. Sadly the poor service attitude does not change, and at dessert time I need to get up again and walk over to the bar to place an order. Very disappointing service, and for this reason alone, this Brotzeit outlet is best left off my (and your) list.
