Beautiful Balinese restaurant in the Botanic Garden. You pretty much enter into a different world away from the rest of Singapore. If you’ve been to Bali, this restaurant will definitely bring you down memory lane. However, the atmosphere wasn’t as quiet as I hoped for. The venue is huge with many cabanas and regular table seating all outdoor. They also offer an indoor bar lounge. The restroom was far and deep into the the back of the restaurant. If you’ve been to The Baboon House in Malacca Malaysia and The Secret Garden in Ubud, this restaurant is kind of a mix of both of those restaurants. Their menu extends beyond Indonesian food. They serve Western tapas and Indian cuisine. My friend loved the butter chicken as the flavor was quite unique. I loved their tofu tapa and pumpkin shrimp. The entrees were generous and definitely could be shared family style. If you order their Indonesian fish entrees, expect a regular size fish. The cocktails were lacking a bit. I was excited to try the Blue Bali cocktail, since I’ve been addicted to anything lemongrass flavor lately. The first sip tasted like alcohol but not the tequila flavor that I’m familiar with. Although, I was happy to taste alcohol and know that they didn’t skimp on it, I think the mixture could have been more well-balanced. I couldn’t really taste the lemongrass and lime. My friend ordered a cocktail(I don’t remember the name) and it tasted like juice. Wonder if there was alcohol at all? The service was fine. Nothing spectacular. Please note: — Sitting in the cabana seemed cool in the beginning, but 30 minutes later, I wish I was on a chair instead. — For the ladies, as my friend recommended me, wear a maxi dress or shorts if you plan to sit in a cabana. You’ll be much more comfy. You don’t want to be tugging on a short dress to ensure proper coverage. I recommend a 6 – 6:30pm dinner reservation so that you could experience the place in the daylight as well. After dinner, you could also take a short stroll through the Botanic Garden to get back onto the main road. It was nice to walk past jasmine flowers to relax the mind before heading home to knock out from food coma. Overall, a wonderful hidden gem in Singapore. If you can’t fly to Bali, miss it, or want to experience it, this is the place for you!

I’ve been in Singapore for a week now and this was the place where I had the best food. The prawn curry was simply fantastic, very tasteful and really creamy. The place itself is great and very comfortable. Will definitely come back and I absolutely recommend a visit to this place.

Excellent dinner. Atmosphere was relaxing, service was prompt and professional. Meals were prepared and served in a timely manner. The food was delicious; especially the pumpkin prawns, samosas and mango sticky rice.

On the recommendation of a friend, we dined with a colleague at Blue Bali last evening. What a special experience! I easily made our reservation online with a prompt response. The relaxed ambience is very Balinese with its multi-colored fabrics and lanterns, private dining pavilions with cushions and low tables as well as tables and chairs, soft traditional background music, wafting incense, and open-air feel while maintaining comfort with fans. For a starter, we enjoyed a lychee cocktail, red wine, and a beer along with sautéed prawns topped with a delightfully flavorful mango salsa. Our entrée was a shared Indonesian Rijsttafel platter and a tapas order of grilled pumpkin prawns. The platter was ample food for three diners, and the flavors of each dish(there were nine) were delicious. From prior reviews, we knew to save dessert room for the Mango and Sticky Rice Pudding — truly one of the best desserts I have had. The rice was buttery and slightly salty, playing perfectly off the sweetness of the mango. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. All in all, a delightful evening«in Bali».

Had a great meal at Blue Bali tonight. We ate the Indian platter as well as the Indonesian platter(was more then enough for 4 adults). The platters were good size portions for trying a little bit of everything. Great tasting food! I am allergic to nuts and the manager made sure I knew of every dish that had nuts in it. That is NOT the kind of understanding service you always get in Singapore! Even for a Saturday night it was busy but not crowded. If your driving parking is limited in front of the restaurant. A little tricky to find but use google maps and you’ll be fine.

Good food, romantic ambiance, but rather difficult to find in the Botanic Gardens. Be sure to take a taxi who knows how to get there!

Samys Curry was closed on a Tuesday night so taking the local Unilocalers suggestions we hopped in a cab and hightailed it over to Blue Bali. …initially it looked empty but outside under the Balinese canopy it was humming! Friendly and attentive staff was a good start and the same calibre continued all night with recommendations for the player for two skeptically accepted we were thinking about additional dishes and/or desert… Until it arrived. … uh sorry we doubted you.. and it may have been the generous offer of a 2nd(and third) pint of home brew for $ 6 that filled the gap but we just could not finish the mountain of indonesian delicacies that overflowed onto our plates… No details required… just go, trust the waitperson, order, enjoy, roll out the door and then spend the next day walking it off… you wont regret it.

Hervorragendes Restaurant mit sehr schönem Ambiente und lecker Tappas. Selbstgebrautes Bier und vor allem günstig. In der Happy Hour billigstes Tiger von ganz Singapur. Uneingeschränkte Empfehlung.

Tonight I escaped the hustle and bustle of THE city and found myself in a Balinese paradise. Blue Bali really delivers. Transported away from my usual restaurant experience deep in the bowels of an über modern mall, this gem is located directly on the lush Botanical Gardens. Blue Bali’s design is such that the initial building, with lovely Asian art and full bar, shelters the true splendor to be found in the back of the restaurant. Just outside of this restaurant is a recreation of Balinese Resort villa life. Elaborate hand carved wooden buildings, babbling fountains with water features running below some of the private couples villas, and traditional cushion seating caught my eye at every turn. The staff, all dressed in rich fabrics reminiscent of yesteryear in Indonesia, all greeted me warmly with genuine, almost shy smiles. This visit was a bit spontaneous and I went to Blue Bali for some drinks. The signature drink, the Blue Bali, was delicious. It’s a blend of blue curaçao with hints of lemongrass and lime, on the rocks. Among other things, I saw caipirinhas on the bar list… I will definitely be back for Brazil’s national drink! I took a tour of the micro brewery on site and was told it is more of a «nano» brewery. All custom beers… they seemed to be having as much fun with the beer as with the food. Beer with dragon fruit, beer with spices… there were at least 5 custom beers fermenting.(Loved the giant double crocodile wood carving mounted on the wall above the brewing machines in an otherwise stark room with shinning steel devices) Together with my drinks I had a wonderful fruit platter with red dragon fruit and an Indian styled appetizer with a spicy mint dip. I’m definitely coming back for more. Balinese charm, Pan-Asian cuisine done Bali resort style, Balinese music and smiling faces, a full bar and nano brewery, tropical plants, running water… can I move in?

the villa bali, ex gillman village has been transplanted, rebuilt and reborn as blue bali on cluny! after much delay due various reasons, they are finally opened! the ambience is great. well decorated with lots of outdoor but sheltered space. you will feel like you have been transported to bali. much effort has gone into recreating the chillax environment it is known for. even the staff are dressed and most speak the part. a great place for a romantic getaway or just an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. they have huge pavilions with long tables good for group outings and intimate small couple lesehans(little huts) too. the indoor area houses a microbrewery and there is also space upstairs for events. the entrance to blue bali is directly opposite the NUS law faculty. limited parking directly outside(especially in the day) but you will find more empty lots around at night. food wise, the menu is pretty much mixed. some balinese, some indian, some western. the platters all look interesting too. we settled for the gado gado, blue bali crispy chicken, bhindi masala, beef kebab, java satay and banana spring roll to end. what’s not on the menu yet is their in house brewed beer. for tonight, they had a dragon fruit beer and a honey, basil and ginger beer. i went with the dragon fruit aka pink mamba and it was fruitily good. the gado gado($ 13) was interesting. cabbage wrapped carrots, kang kong and bean sprouts sits on top of bean curd and rice cake submerged in peanut sauce interspersed with tomatoes and quails eggs. definitely recommended. blue bali roasted chicken($ 25) for only half a chicken. served with flavoured salt, prawn crackers and salad. taste was ok. juicy and succulent chicken. but i think pricey without being special. bhindi masala($ 18) was nicely done but naan was too doughy for me. beef kebab($ 9 for 6) was way too dry. basically minced beef satay served with sweet chilli sauce. javanese satay($ 9 for 6) was awesome. chunky well marinated and spiced cubes of tender grilled skewered chicken! with peanut dipping sauce. finally, dessert was a banana spring roll($ 12) akin to goreng pisang served with vanilla ice cream and strawberries. a nice sweet ending. date rating for this place is a 5* for sure! food needs to play catch up a little. and drinks they just have to keep brewing!
