Salmon quiche set($ 10.50) — 2 stars The salmon quiche was unpleasantly salty while the accompanying beet and carrot salad was oddly flavorless. Pain miche($ 7.50 for a quarter) — 4.5 stars REAL(European/hearty/not the gummy flavorless supermarket variety) bread in Singapore is hard to find! I quite enjoy this one but I’m still looking for a 100% wholewheat loaf. I like the ambience but it does get crowded on weekends. I’m also still hesitant to fork out $ 17 for a stack of pancakes or French toast…

Great coffee and fantastic breads and pastries, although their cooked breakfast selection is a bit limited and lacks imagination.

I agree with fellow Unilocalers that service here is questionable, but the bread is quite good. Having moved recently from the US, I have been looking for a solid bakery to buy my weekly loaves of bread from. Their baguettes have met my criterion by providing crispy, yet airy goodness at $ 4 a piece. I also tried their walnut loaf today which had surprisingly abundant loads of nuts stuffed in. If you buy a loaf of bread, I recommend staying at the café to try your purchase at the tables, as they serve complimentary jams at all the tables.

I was drawn into this bakery café by the pastries and bread. Having bought the bread and currently chomping on it for breakfast. It is easily the freshest I have found in Singapore. Definitely recommended if you want a fresh loaf, far from the sugary bread that is standard.

Great tasting coffees and a nice selection of breads, pastries and cakes. I enjoyed the salmon quiche and Egg/Mayo/Avocado open sandwich. Trendy décor with stools and benches laid out for seating. I wouldn’t see it as a place to spend your time chatting away with friends or kicking back to relax as the hard seats do become uncomfortable. Pricing is moderately expensive, but you do get what you paid for in quality and freshness.

Doughnut is ok actually after eating a quarter of it I can feel dizzy from the sugar level. It’s too sweet. Also this espresso is burnt. It’s awful. But this place reminds me of baker & spice so it has a nostalgic feeling(+1 for that). There are much better places than this.

Their coffee is decent. But everything is expensive. I am addicted to caneles so this is the only place closest to me that sells them and boy are they expensive. They are $ 3 each and everywhere else I have seen them is way less. Avoid Saturday mornings unless you enjoy seeing sweaty middle-aged men clacking around in their Lycra bike shorts and cycling shoes. Not someplace where you can sit down in peace for a nice morning coffee and read the paper. On the plus side, it is open early at 7:30am.

Service is cheery, breads are decent. But what’s ridiculous is charging for a pat of butter. It’s by no means great quality butter either. It’s disappointing given that this is meant to be a slightly upmarket establishment

baker and cook is this chain of bakery-café that’s been around for ages — I think it’s an easy choice for breakfast or brunch on the weekends, if you’re not into trying too hard. this particular outlet — as would suit the demographic in this locale — is packed with expatriates and their kids, and gets a little manic(service is both harried and difficult to get). but the food is decent, and good if you can score a seat. it’s a simple menu of morning goods like scrambled eggs and breakfast meats — bulked up with an array of baked goodies like croissants and bagels(they also bake cakes and breads, if you’re so inclined). it all looks pretty much as-you’d-expect, which is to say it’s appealing in a homey, familiar way. my granola was a generous portion served up with a berry compote and greek-ish yogurt, with milk on the side. mashed up and left to sit, it softens into a nice, not-too-sweet bowl of wholesomeness. the price points are reasonable(though really, this expensive climate means even reasonable is probably too much), and the café is casual, comfortable seating. if only it weren’t quite so packed — but then again, that’s the price you pay for good food.

I’ve heard a lot but wasn’t impressed when I finally gave the place a try. There was just something about the flavour profiles that didn’t sit right with me. I had the chilli con carne pie. The filling didn’t have enough tomato and the pastry was way too buttery(yes I’ve had my fair share of British and Australian pies). It could have been a generic minced meat pie from the frozen foods section. The pie did come with broccoli salad on the side. And chilli and lime. I’ll eat Thai, but it just didn’t seem right right with broccoli.

Chaos and cacophony — if you want a relaxing weekend brunch, keep looking. The design of the place makes the already-noisy din even louder, with the sound bouncing off the walls and floor. Cramped and shared tables, a constant in/out-flux of people, and the food is ok but not really worth all this. Not the cheapest nor the most expensive, for us it was a one-time thing.
