We left after they closed and they wouldn’t give my girlfriend water(even tap water) because«the system is closed down». Awful service.

I like the hot chocolate here as it is thick and not so sweet. The artisanal chocolates are also excellent. Great was a post dinner dessert.

I stopped by to get some sweets to go while waiting for some takeaway food from another shop. I have seen other outlets of this chain and wondered about it, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered three things, and in all I would say I’m not terribly impressed… maybe it was what I ordered. The first thing was a slice of white chocolate butterscotch block. It looks great in the case: delicate chocolate roll cake inside a white chocolate cream, topped with butterscotch. But in reality it was rather disappointing. The cake itself was OK, although the white chocolate cream had a strange texture — it didn’t quite feel like cream, nor was it exactly chocolaty — rather it was pretty dense. On top of that, the so-called«sweet-salty» butterscotch does not accurately describe it. It was VERY salty… saltier than a salted plum salty, saltier than ham salty. I could only conclude that they make their butterscotch starting with salted butter — a big NONO. The next things weren’t so off-putting, but they didn’t impress, either. The second dish was a hazelnut crumble. It has a base similar to a dense chocolate brownie(almost like flourless chocolate cake), topped with a hazelnut-and-chocolate-flavored crumble. Let me emphasize the hazelnut flavor, because there weren’t any pieces of hazelnut at all. The crumble was much too stiff and didn’t actually crumble, either. I’ve had better crumble(sans hazelnut) on top of many a store-bought«dutch» apple pie. The third dish was a couple of dark chocolate truffles. These were perfectly fine. The texture was reminiscent of the Royce’ type of truffles that are popular in Japan, but aren’t as good as the chocolate truffles from Chocmod you can get at Costco back in the U.S. Maybe I’m missing something, and should try a different dish… such as their little cupcakes. Of course, based on the saltiness of their regular butterscotch, there’s no way I could stomach the«salted butterscotch brownie.» I will think twice before returning

Everyone in our family, including the in-laws, got a cake from Awfully Chocolate for his or her birthday last year. That’s a lot of chocolate. And we aren’t sick of it yet so we might repeat this year. Out of the three types — all chocolate, chocolate banana, and chocolate rum and cherry — we like the all chocolate the most. Rich and dark, I love the solid mass of chocolate. I also like it that we can walk in and find a cake without having to pre-order. Wish Lana Cake Shop was like this as well. SUM: Good enough for now.
