The porridge and clay pot rice in this place are delicious. All their porridge is dried scallop based, which gives it a sea food-y umami test. Very traditional with peanuts and you tiao. The rice is also very full and thick, not the watery stuff you find in hawker centers. The clay pot rice is equally wholesome, with chestnuts, chinese sausages, mushrooms and whatever meat you ordered. The sauce gives it a smoky kick and it’s wonderfully fragrant. One pot is generally sufficient for 2 or even 3 people, so don’t over order! I would also recommend their fried pumpkin coated with egg custard, it’s the same sauce used in salted egg yolk crab but you don’t have to deal with crab shells so it’s bite after bite of awesomeness. I had one bad experience with their service though, I asked for napkins(which considering that they’re a restaurant and charges a premium on their food plus service charge and GST, is a reasonable ask), and they asked us to pay for a tissue packet. I was given paper napkins with no questions asked a previous visit, so it was kind of an annoyance when the waiter insisted that we pay for the a packet of tissue. It kind of irked us that a restaurant charging 13 bucks for a bowl of porridge can be this cheapskate, so –1 star for that. Nevertheless the food is pretty good so give it a try!

It’s a legit place for rice porridge plus clean as whistle. I had the«premium» dried scallop porridge for their 3 to 6 pm happy hour at 50% off. It was flavorful and generous portions. I would try again if in area.
