Ang Mo Kio Public Library

Public libraries with their own stand-​along buildings are my favourites, while many are just shoved into shopping malls. For an expansive experience, head over to the Ang Mo Kio branch, my all-​time favourite public library in Singapore (it ties with Bishan library).
There’s a large collection of both fiction and non-​fiction books, and also comic books! The children’s section is also quite big, with an activity room all to themselves. Unfortunately, it gets quite noisy at times, but the librarians are generally able to keep things under control.
Recently, they’ve also begun loaning out selective DVDs, so you don’t have to travel all the way down to library@esplanade.
On the downside, the library has blocked off almost all power outlets, likely to prevent electricity-​hungry teenagers with their laptops and iPads and whatnots from sucking up all the power. Just come here with a fully charges laptop and things should be fine.
