If you are looking for somewhere quiet, with Internet, free power for your laptop and a fantastic view of the city and sea, this is the best place to go to! not forgetting it is THE research library that is open to all visitors. Really a great place, very inspiring to get work done. If you are looking for old microfilm of newspaper archives, this is the place to be as well. The only annoyance is that you are not able to bring other books in, or even study notes. You can bring bags in but you have to leave books and notes in the locker outside but at least it is free. The security guard outside the library can be very annoying with their checks. There are often a whole load of people using the power points so it may not be easy to find seats so the best time to go are meal times.

On any occasion I was working on school projects on the local community and couldn’t find relevant material online, I knew I could fall back upon the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library. It has played a very instrumental part in my research for school projects. It has free Wifi, microfilms of old newspapers, videos, a photocopy room, rare titles, magazines, encyclopedias, journals — just about everything I needed to complete my projects! The downside? You can’t borrow the books home, if you need something, you gotta jot down your own notes or go to the photocopy room to zap the pages you require. If I need to go to the library, I usually try to go in the morning so I could grab seats.
