Shaw Theatres Premiere

To a movie buff like me, spending big dollas’ on luxury movie experiences could be detrimental to the pocket, but given that I was getting to watch X-​Men for free as a treat at Nex’s Premier cinemas, I couldn’t find it within me to say no.
Being a tad bit late, I could not fully appreciate what was on offer, however, I was quickly ushered to a cinema with approximately 24 to 30 luxurious recliner seats, that were accompanied by personal blankets, a small table for food and drink, and a very useful ‘Call’ button, very much like how you would call the flight attendants on a plane journey. It was a brilliant feeling to cosy up in those seats, stretch out your legs and watch a movie on the big-​screen with unadulterated comfort.
We called the attendants multiple times for a couple of beers and popcorn but the only disappointing facet they need to work on is the fact that we were made to make payments right after the order was delivered. Struggling to concentrate on the movie, we had to fiddle with our wallets, cards, cash, change etc in almost near darkness, and obviously there could only be one ‘winner’, definitely not the movie.
I had another minor complaint, something that cannot really be helped, but my legs were a tad bit too long for the seats, and awkwardly pressed up against the partition that separated us from the seats in front of us. I guess we can’t have everything!
Leaving the cinema, I was made aware that there were a whole bunch of food /​beverage options I could have taken advantage of prior to the movie, and have it delivered inside as well. Along with a specific queue for Premier seating patrons, and restrooms that were specifically for Premier ticket holders. Decently priced compared to Golden Village’s Gold Class, this is definitely a must try for those special birthday treats, date nights or anniversaries that you do not want to spend a bomb on!

My 200^th post! How did that happen?
I have been wanting to try the Première theater but somehow the movies shown are not to my liking, i.e. I am not such a big fan of thrillers or action movies which seem to dominate the screens.
Maybe it was a Monday evening, but it was a quiet night for movies. We had the whole theater to ourselves, pretty surreal and a bit scary if you let your imagination run wild when horror/​thriller trailers were shown before the movie started.
Excellent service by the staff. You have the choice of having your food served in the lounge area or in the theater. And if you need to transfer the food from the lounge to the theater, it will be done with no eye-​rolling or irritation from the staff. Instead they are generally very helpful and always ready to assist. As we were the only people watching the movie that night, we could actually sit wherever we want. The staff actually recommended our seats, saying not many people actually sit there and so the cushioning will be better and not so flattened. True enough, you could see the indentation on some of the seats.
The seats are very comfortable and you could recline with just a touch of the button. The staff covered our legs with the individual blankets. I hope they do wash them after every show, but who knows. The table between the seats is not very big so it is best to only have drinks and maybe a light snack/​dessert in there. Somehow I still find it strange to eat when watching a movie, but that is just me. I cannot eat and watch at the same time. Sound system is good, and it is not too cold, or maybe the blanket does help to keep warm.
The washrooms are down a flight of stairs, so it may be a shorter trip to head to the general screening hall area to access the larger washrooms over there.
I would definitely go back again, if they are screening movies which I like.
Pricing is also lower than the other two cinema operators, which makes it a big plus point.

This is THE place to watch a first-​release movie if you hate crowds. No big groups of people whispering loudly during the movie, nobody kicking your chair, nobody bringing all sorts of food into the theater, and no stinky overcrowded toilets. The seats are super comfy! Reclining chairs, and I love the blankets. If you are hungry, you can order some food from the menu, and they serve it to you while you watch the movie, and the prices are not crazy expensive. Highly recommended.
My only complaint is that although they have private toilets, you have to go down a level to the toilets, not great for the athletically-​challenged.

Starting from the dedicated queue (or non-​queue) to collect the shiny silver Première tickets, the service at Shaw Première was impeccable!
I really loved how there was a special entrance into the theatres through a lounge, and the butler service that came along with it. Throw in the fresh, clean blankets and the leather reclining chairs in the theatre, and all I can say is that it was an experience fit for a Queen. Only issue was that the ground staff at the first level didn’t seem to know how to answer my questions for Shaw Première. We made it up to the Première lounge anyway, where my issues could be resolved, thankfully, and I started feeling like a Queen.
Specifically, I chose the Sparkling Christmas Set because I reasoned that the Première tickets were going to cost close to $ 30 per person and all decent restaurant fare would be overpriced on Christmas Eve anyway.
So all in all, the Shaw Première experience was wonderful because of the impeccable service, blankets, comfy chairs and privacy (the seats are in pairs). On hindsight, however, the Sparkling Christmas Set was not really value for the price I paid. The bf and I would have liked a choice of appetisers/​mains/​desserts because not everybody has the same palette and there wasn’t alot of information on the food served. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to have a free flow of wine as well, as one glass seemed really sad. We might have been better off ordering the ala-​carte dishes which seemed pretty affordable. That said, there are other promotions which seem really value-​for-​money such as the weekday brunch set, so we look forward to returning or trying out similar experiences at other cinemas.

For those that have yet to experience watching movies in luxury, I’ll attempt to give an analogy here. Leveling up from watching movies in a regular theatre to a ‘Première’ one is like going from economy class to First class for your flight. (Ok, I haven’t exactly tried first class, but I’m guessing it will be like that.)
Anyway, back to my review. The seats are big and spacious leather recliners. Coupled with personal blankets and a side table for placing your food and drinks, it is definitely one luxury movie experience. If you feel hungry at any moment, just pick up the menu and call upon the staff with the ‘call service button’ to take your orders.
One thing that stands out the most from my experience at NEX’s Shaw Première is their SUPERB staff service! I bought 2 tickets as a gift to surprise my Godsis for her birthday. I turned up early to collect the tickets first and to make food and drinks order before she came. I ordered a plate of nachos and tiramisu as a b’day cake. I requested to have a candle on the cake as it was her b’day. They politely told me they don’t have that at the theatre. But somehow or another, one of their staff managed to dig and find a candle and a ‘Happy Birthday’ b’day cake topper. — That staff really went the extra mile for me! — I could even choose the time that I wanted the cake or any of the ordered food to be delivered. Very impressed!
Oh yes! There’s also a separate priority queue for those première movie goers, So that’s an added plus. The nachos taste pretty good too! Unlike the normal ones that you buy at the cinema snack bar, this one has salsa
If you have tried Golden Village’s Gold class, Shaw’s première theatre is definitely comparable in terms of service, movie & food variety. The only differences that set them apart is the type of seat and price. GV has very comfy velvet recliners while Shaw offers leather ones. The tics at Shaw is also much cheaper at ~$ 25 while GV’s priced at ~$ 39. I’ve tried both and I’d prefer to go for Shaw’s première (NEX) at a cheaper price and great service.
