Wow, I can’t believe this place doesn’t have more positive reviews. My girlfriend and I loved it here. They have the absolute BEST yam(sweet potato) fries I have ever had! They practically melt in your mouth & the pesto mayo is a great dip; no need for ketchup here. My girlfriend lived the tiger shrimp linguini. I had a chicken BBQ sandwich which was ok. On our next visit I had the thai beef salad and it was sweet without being too spicy. The beers were fantastic too; I especially liked the nut brown. Check this place out, it’s good!

Its hard to give a pub five stars as the food is pub food and beer is beer. So the next best thing is four stars and this place gets all four. I love the location, as I use it as a meeting place for business lunches, or when friends are flying into town or coming in from the suburbs. With four major transit lines terminating here it also has the feeling of going places/coming home. The architecture is beautiful, the bathrooms are quality, and aura is just right. The service has always been really friendly and down to earth. I always seem to get the bison burger with a side of mushroom gravy, but it is really good.

I work in the area and go to the TransContinental often for lunch. The food is great and reasonably priced. I love the salads the sandwiches/burgers. The servers are very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is pretty good and the booths are cozy. I definitely recommend it!

Went for a beer on Saturday afternoon with a group of 20. The atmosphere was fine, we were comfortable, had pleasant conversations BUT: While I was drinking my first beer I think the waitress asked me three times whether I wanted more and whether I wanted food. I know we weren’t partying and eating like crazy, but it was only 6 O’Clock. We were having visibly intense conversation at our table and the waitress had nothing better to do than to interrupt us every 3 – 5 minutes! If I had known my company a bit better I might have told the waitress to not bother us so often.

I came here while in Gastown for a few pints with a few friends on a nice sunny patio and found it to be a good place. The patio is great for the afternoon as it faces south and gets a lot of sun, unlike the neighboring Steamworks Brewery across the street that is shaded by the building to the south. Walking through the front doors and gazing around on my way to the patio, I was welcomed to some sort of bridge motif with beams supporting the ceiling, high vaulted ceilings, large springline windows, medium colored wood tables and chairs, backsplashed bathroom walls, blue banquettes, and happy hour, of course. The drinks were decently price and so was the happy hour food. The fries with some sort of cheese, I think it’s Gruyère but I’m almost certain I’m wrong, were delicious. Perfectly crisp and the cheese gave just the right amount of salt. Service was a but lacking as at times the server seemed too busy or disinterested and at other times the server was very attentive and caring. I found this very odd but maybe it was a bad day. The food came rather quickly so I was pleased, especially when a few pitchers in and all you want is a nice fried snack. Overall, it is a decent place for a patio and drinks. Sure it’s definitely touristy but the beer is good and the sun drenched patio is even better. Decent bang for buck is always nice, especially when happy hour is attached.

Service is not the fastest for a lunch place, but the food is pretty good. I had the beef dip and it’s what you would expect for good pub grub. Overall pretty good value for money.

I agree that this restaurant has a breathtaking appearance and a very lucrative location — but that is really all it has. The service was very slow, so if you’re on a lunch hour break from work(how most of the patrons were) — its really not a great choice to go to. The mac and cheese, along with the ginger beef, both were very vinegar-y. And the servers were pleasant, but didn’t really go out of their way for you.
